This episode of "Life With Lucy" was great. I laughed so hard at watching Ball and Ritter bounce beautifully off each other.
I bought a copy of all 13 episodes of "Life With Lucy" from a vendor at "ioffer" dot com. "Life With Lucy" wasn't the greatest series ever, but it certainly wasn't as awful as some people made it out to be. And the John Ritter episode was particularly funny.
Two unforgettable icons... reunited as legends... RIP Lucy Ball and John Ritter Together, both are so beloved and both made us laugh even during hard and troubling times.
I remember that episode so well, and at the time, I thought "Life With Lucy" was doing well also - I read somewhere that Lucille Ball was shattered when she learned about her show's sudden cancellation - Such a tragedy for an icon who has made it her life's work to make the world laugh in the 50s, 60s, and 70s-
Ritter pretty much idolized Lucy. One awards show - being the no nonesense pro she was...He was introducing her, going on gloriously about her awards and achievements. She knew the show was running late, walks out on stage, and says, 'they all know me, let's get on with it' (or something close to that). She adored him right back, and was a fan She hosted a Three's Company retrospective as a favor. Sadly, "Life With Lucy" never worked for various reasons. Too bad, Ritter wasn't cast as her son.
It's funny (strange) that growing up my mother was a HUGE I love Lucy fan and it rubbed off on me, then when Three's Company came out we were huge fans of that show. My mother always swore Lucy was the best and I always stuck by John Ritter as the best - it wasn't till years and years later that we find out that those two are huge fans of each other, and when we found out, we were kind of like, "Well it makes perfect sense!"
Despite Lucy's age, she still was an active woman in the acting business. She did charity work, among other things. She never felt the urge to quit acting. She was a pioneer busineswoman, among other things. She might have been difficult to work with, but she did it the hard way and proved everyone wrong.

Ritter ruled, including Lucy. Every other thing Lucy did, other than I Love Lucy she was horrible in. She wasn't funny anymore. Needless to say, Ritter was great in everything he did. He was the only funny thing on this episode of Lucy's final show. Brilliant physical comedy.
Lucy is so confidently wonderful in what was a so-so show. Ritter never displayed a 20th of the talent she had. She knew when to be subtle. He replaced subtlety with yelling really loud and acting like a fool - more desperate that skilled. That was the only way he could do it, and the only reason he was fortunate enough to guest with her was because his over-the-top-at-every-moment-yet-wildly-successful-in-the-seventies-show was a hit on ABC.
What about that retrospective Lucille did of Three's Company? I have all 8 seasons of Three's Company, and that seems to be a lost episode. Anybody have it?
I'm surprised it's not included in the DVD release because it's part of the syndication package, as a two-part episode. If you get TVLand, watch out for it because it shows up every few months.
I want to see this episode.

Always loved John Ritter and Lucy .... but to be honest with you, this "shtick" gets a little tiring. Slapstick comedy is okay in small doses only.

does anyone have this episode or a clip, I would like to see it.

The sad part is both Lucy and John died from aortic dissection. Strange coincidence...

I had all 8 episodes of "Life With Lucy" recorded on VHS. My Mom recorded over EVERY SINGLE ONE by mistake. I was heart-broken!
