@CherryConcrete Don't say crap if you don't know shit about it.. It's real ash wood, since Ash wood has a much crispier and brighter tone vs Mahogany. Also, have you even played it? I was scratching my head over this and a Tayler Elec/Acous and eventually bought both. Great guitar for it's price and plays almost as well as my Taylor. Only problem is if you look at the action it's a bit slanted towards the top which is what some people prefer but I really like it level. Oh and I paid 374 for it.
i saw this guitar in a pawn shop for $380 or so a few weeks ago... and i literally cant get it out of my head, its in good condition, missing 2 strings, olding, but that will just give it a more beautiful tone! im trying my best to buy it!
@maggot6639 Go to guitar center if you haven't bought it yet. There's a 10% discount promo + it's priced at 389 but you can get it down to 374 with tax included.
I bought one.... my house burnt and I replaced all my instuments except my 6 string cause I decided to start my daughter and so I let her pick out one in plae of mine
BUT when I went back a couple of weeks later to get my 12 string case I saw it and bought it after only hearing like 2 chourds on it...... it was well worth the price.... it doesn't have the "tiger stripes" like this one it's actually curly ash but on the back the grain looks like a picture of dragon or something
nice i'm planning to get one of these but never tried an acoustic guitar with ash body how does it sound?? and how about the pickup how does it unplugged/plugged?
I've been wondering.. is the body thin and comfortable? Like does it feel like you have to reach your arm around it? and Is the neck thin to where is comfortable to play?
Please Reply, i cant find this information anywhere.
I'm was going to buy this exact guitar from GuitarCenter for like $400. Any advice about the quitar like if you know of a place to buy it cheaper or if you recomend this guitar would be much appreciated. I've been playing for about three years and am looking to trade up. Again any advice would be much appreciated. Thankyou.
@maxiJaz1979 I have the bubunga version. I part exchanged it for an Epiphone. I am chuffed to bits with it. It is tremendous value for money. Definately get one if you haven't already. You'll be pleased you did.
I´m interested on this guitar, but left hand, it´s the only ibanez have....do the guitar a fishman sonicore pickup? and what is the difference with the EW30?
Sounds great unplugged. And it's really good for soloing. The smaller neck and low action make for much easier string bending and faster playing. I strongly recommend this guitar
Man,the first song are very beautifull, and no matter that it was record without amp and on shit cam,the song really great and guitar too,and player too ^^
ismylethe, make sure your tuner is off, or it wont work. i also replaced the batteries it came with, with duracells, and it stopped working. put the old ones back in, works fine. i dont know..
I love mine, I got one and her name is samantha, ( : check out my videos using her..I am looking right now to improve my playing, so it's cool to have come across this vid, you know I didn't even know what the guitar's model name was..I picked it up on sight for 400 bux and after playing it, I fell in love!
Hello friends. I really trust this guitar, but I can not get audio output from the amplifier before connecting to is how do features. 600usd I should give you.
i have this guitar in the 12 string version, i think it sounds and plays great. its great both plugged in and unplugged. it does have a pretty wide neck though, so i'd definitely play it first.
One Great thing about "Ibanez' Guitars they are Great realiable Work Horses. You can't go wrong with an Ibanez, I have Gibbys,Fenders from the Ole days when they were affordable.
But, To me Most of the Ibanez guitars I've played, Are Great. You can't beat um for the money. They beat Epi's and most of the other stuff out there.
I have a question about the neck. Unfortunately I have somewhat small hands and on some acoustics I've played, the necks tend to be meaty and hard for me to play but lately I've been looking into this acoustic. How thick is neck on this guitar? =] Thank you for your response ahead of time.
I've got a Hohner acoustic that I've had for quite some time and I know what you mean by the meaty necks (I've got big hands to deal with it though ;D) and the neck on that Ibanez feels almost identical to my SG's neck.
wow crazy enough man, i just earlier learned layla (acoustic) on my crappy yamaha, looked this vid up to see if it was worth buying and i heard you play that. lol
I just recently sold this guitar. If you only have around $300 to spend on a guitar, this one is a no-brainer. It beats out everything else in the $200-600 price range, but I found it not to be the best for finger picking. If you are a strummer however, this thing will rock. You will probably want to get it set up when you buy it though...
Hello MaxiJaz, i have got an Ibanez ew20wne, a guitar that has a jumbo body like your guitar. In your opinion, what is the difference, in terms of sound, between a jumbo guitar and a dreadnought guitar? Sorry for my Italian english and thank you if you' ll answer my question :)
Soundwise, these two will be very close together. My EW20 is a jumbo, but if fits comfortably in my old guitar case, which I originally bought for my previous guitar: a dreadnought. They're both similar in size, although a jumbo has a slightly slimmer waist and bigger hips (if that female body-analogy makes sense to you?). I prefer these bigger acoustic shapes for their large range and great low tones...
Yes, I read that on the brochure too, I've got a EW30WNE OPN model. It would make sense that WN stands for Walnut. Perhaps Cordia is part of the laminate, or something; either way it's a really good guitar from Ibanez for the price :) Awesome demo video btw
very helpful post..i was wandering if youve seen the zebrawood version of this guitar..im trying to find out which one has the better sound...i guess i could go to guitar center and find that out for myself but i dont know how to play,, yet..thanx
The zebrawood was nice, but it looked a bit too whacky for me.
Soundwise I liked the ash model the most.
The others all sounded great though, so I guess it's a matter of personal taste.
Most other woods will sound a bit less bright than the ash. I'll upload a new movie in a few days where I play the guitar through the electronics and my new amp.
Im thinking of buying this guitar what does it sound like unplugged, would you recommend this for a beginner with small hands Im used to playing a yamaha which has quite a narrow neck
The thing about those 'exotic woods' Ibanez guitars is that most of them are actually plywood.
You have to really shop around to find one that isn't.
No idea why they made it this way. Not nice Ibanez, not nice

Walnut is also known as Cordia?
ryl417 3 years ago
I'm not an expert in wood, but the EW20WNE on the Ibanez-website has 'cordia' for the top, back and sides...
In my local store, they described this to me as 'walnut', which would also explain the WN in the type description.
Of all the ones I've played, I like the ash most, but the WNE is a good second. Nice sound.
maxiJaz1979 3 years ago

scooby3291 3 years ago
did anyone maybe compare this 'EW 20' with the 'EWC 30' and can tell me a little bit about the differences?
maximalguitar 3 years ago
The EWC30 is basically the same guitar: most features are identical: materials, tuners, bridge, pickup, EQ, integrated tuner...
Biggest difference is the one in size:
The EW20's a jumbo-body while the EWC30 isn't.
This makes the EWC30 easier to handle standing up, or when you are on a stage.
I personally don't gig, so the size doesn't matter that much. I actually prefer the look and, most importantly, sound of a bigger body:
more tone.
