I remember that cat at 0.15 snuggling down on top of someone's coalbox, very well... one of the trademarks of the show, back then. Always used to wait to see him/her, every episode. I called it, 'Fluffy', but I don't think that was its' name. Good old Eddie Yates with his green parker on. LOL
The characters in those days all looked, dressed, acted and spoke like genuine working class people. The insides of the houses all looked like real working class homes. These days everyone in Corrie (supposedly set in one of the most deprived areas of Britain) looks like they've had a designer makeover.
@tirayi You and im sure 25/26 millions viewers who watched that episode in Christmas 87 still the highest watched episode apparantly, and Hilda was also my mum's all time favourite Corrie character, they don't make creations like her anymore and Annie Walker was great too, they were all part of that great golden era of the Street that i so sadly missed being born early 80's.
Was the greatest soap ever, it had everything Drama comedy and entertainment like no other. Sadly the present format has left a lot to be desired, too limited and depressing. Pity as it was an institution in British culture.
@mickeyh1961 This was defintly the best era of Corrie 70's/80's, with characters like Hilda Ogden,Annie Walker etc, who were legends in their own rights, the Street of the 21st century and its characters will get no where these sort of women in terms of class.
Us lot in Bolton, still speak like this especially when Albert repeats the word 'daft' in one sentence! LOL

@6foxy6roxy6 Me too one of Corrie's greatest creations, none of the modern day Street actors/actresses come anywhere near as good as Hilda Ogden.
