  • sounds like mcr or panic at the disco or some shit

  • @alexadventure123 not panic anthing but panic at the disco

  • Best live vocals I've heard ever.

  • EPIC...

  • Follow me, set me free... Wait, this isn't Sonic!

  • Oh look, someone accidentally hit the dislike button while furiously masturbating to this song. That's a shame.

  • @JDapollosarmy That was me man..no joke.

  • Julio has the best fucking stage presence

  • Her breath escapes her, but her pulse remains

  • I seen them when they played with coheed. I like them but my only problem with them is I think they could loose one guitar and then id enjoy a little more.

  • Their so fuckin amazing. . . This live performance is great!! Fuckin Bravo!!

  • like i have said on previous Dear Hunter live videos, they have such a great time playing their music. They get so into it, and that is what music is about. These guys are great, and I hope more people recognize them! I have showed my so many of my friends this band. And, does anyone think, when those choir voices would kick on those parts of the song, that they should let the crowd do that part? I don't know, but I think that would be a pretty sweet thing to add to their act. Dear hunter!

  • It's always refreshing to hear someone who can sing at least 90% of the notes in tune during a live show.

    Bravo.

  • I neeed more bands like this

the closest I've found is Anathallo

and of course I already know about Mars Volta

  • @healingv1sion these guys are good but no where near the mars volta

  • @captainphrank you obviously have no idea why you're talking about....look deeper than this video

  • The Dear Hunter > Deerhunter

  • I hate when people get the two confused.

  • @MelloMarMar Dude it looks like you have your sign backwards!

  • one of their best and catch songs, those verses simply can not be beat!

  • i wish i coulda been to their first show :)

  • m

    asadsfasdasd

  • I <3 your taste, Fallcon64.

  • the dear hunter, the mars volta and muse are my three favorite bands and this concert is going to be sick on nov 1st

  • hi paul!

  • Jeez, right-on with the album.

  • it's funny that people have mentioned the mars volta and muse in these responses, because mars volta is my favorite band and muse is my girlfriends, and i think that the dear hunter is right smack in the middle of the two. That is the way i have always described them to my friends.

  • I cant find a not live version of this, if anyone knows where it is, let me know please. Thanks

    -The Falcon

  • its on itunes and or amazon

  • it's on the Act I album.... Act I: The Lake South, The River North

  • this is live....

  • I can :d ill send link

  • IS THAT JULIO FROM ATAL????

  • Yep. In fact 2 ATAL members have toured with The Dear Hunter. You can tell it's Julio from the way he moves like a freak, can't you. :D

  • Oh man yeah I love his groove, my friends and I danced on stage with him during Love Love Love back in December when they played Buffalo. It was soooo chill.

    That just made my day

  • i was just about to ask the same thing haha

  • wow, for a first show, not bad at all.

  • amazing, cant wait to see them live next week

  • The first time I saw them, they opened for Boys Night Out. They all got onstage and I thought, "wow, these guys are gonna' suck." But they played City Escape and it just BLEW me away.

Still my favorite band to this day.

  • Yeah I saw them last year around this time with The Fall of Troy, Tera Melos and another band (hard to impress people) and I was blown away with them.

Definitely in my top five for bands in 00'.

  • I'm sorry, my mistake, the drummer is his brother, not the bass player

  • is the bassist from As Tall As Lions? he looks exactly like that dude

  • yah it is, i remember reading somthin about the bassist of atal and the frontman of the dear hunter being family

  • no waaay...how are they related

  • I think it's probably also the keyboardist and drummer from atal. When Dear Hunter started up the whole band backed Casey. I remember hearing that.

  • Sound really good live.

    Love them.

  • The singers voice sounds as good live as it does recorded.

  • No doubt about that, I saw them live for the first time, and I was utterly blown away.

  • casey is ridiculous

  • I haven't fully made up my mind about this band, but this was a really good performance. They sounded like the record without sounding WAY TOO MUCH like the record.

  • dont disgrace dear hunter with blasphemy of other bands under their own video lol

  • Lol, people are ridiculous. It's one thing to have an opinion but you can't fucking listen to this band and say they suck.

  • they sound pretty damn good live

  • this band rocks some serious cock

  • The Dear Hunter is amazing!

  • immense!

  • Man, I wanted to see them and the Fall of Troy so bad, but I found out they were here the DAY they were here. It sucked.

  • That show was freaking BEAST... sorry had to say it, foxy shazam was really good as well. I didn't get there in time to see tero melos perform, but I caught the end of a song and they weren't half bad... but yeah great fucking show.

  • they we so fucking good on tues in New Haven, CT

  • I LOVE THEM!

  • Epic.

  • something like muse

  • i wouldn't have said muse, though i do hear it now that you've mentioned it. the first thing i thought of when i first heard them was wax on radio and some early mars volta. nomatter what way you look at it they've quite deffinitely got their own thing going on here :)

  • not really anything like muse, I can hear the ambience but matthew bellamy just has a way with music that is unlike anything I've ever heard, and these guys are a style completely of their own accord.

...Muse really is amazing though. these guys are really good too.

  • They definitely have a sound of their own but you can't deny the Muse influence, at least in this song.

Listen to the part of City Escape at 4:25, not the live version but the recorded one. That has a really Muse-y vibe to it doesn't it?

  • i would definately agree

  • WTF the bassist for as tall as lions is playing bass!!!

  • he has to fill in because they don't have a bassist.

  • wtf?!

  • duff mckagan part ii maybe...

  • i deffiately love these guys- gotta thank my man dave E. for showin me them, he might be lucky enough to get to play a show with them

  • the mars volta? duuuude...frank zappa!

  • Frank Zappa? Duuuude... Porcupine Tree!

  • duuuude... nice.

  • You're both wrong. The Dear Hunter.

  • this is the best argument i've ever seen "mars volta! no, frank zappa!" whoever you people are, you're awesome

  • the whole rock opera they do reminds me of coheed and cambria. being that the albums are a full epic story. pretty interesting stuff.

  • i agree...i love coheed and cambria... and i just started listen to the dear hunter and i gotta say they are pretty damn good...claudio and casey should write a few songs together

  • Mad sweet! I just got both Acts for Christmas, and am loving it!

  • ew mars volta, another band you guys should check out is called 3. they are great. toured with coheed and cambria + porcupine tree.

  • hell yea, 3 is awesome, such an incredibly talented band. i saw them w/ coheed and underoath like 3 years ago. i love the piano towards the end of this song.

  • oh i love coheed and i just recently started listening to these guys...i would love to see them tour together again

  • they kick ass, my fav song.

  • So if this is the Dear Hunter's first show, do you mean first show with after Casey he left TREOS, or with TREOS as the backing band?

  • if you watched the video...i think the answer lies within...if you know the difference between As Tall As Lions and The Receiving End of Sirens.

  • @pommegranate just answer his question

  • @crazymigit182 This was the first concert by Casey's new band The Dear Hunter, which he started after he left TREOS. The two have similar sounds in certain aspects, but the bands are completely unrelated in members besides Casey.

  • This isn't my favorite song by them but it is the best video on youtube for it has the best quality

  • Yeah... for me the best goes to either Red Hands or The Bitter Suite 3.

  • I like Bitter Suite part 1 and 2

  • Actually, I believe Casey's brother did the drums for Act I.

  • he did

  • does anyone know what drum software casey used for his demo?!?!?!?

  • atal and treos?

  • just so all yall know. its the drummer AND bassist from atal. you know just in case yall wanted to know. :)

  • HOLY CRAP!

    he can really sing live!!!

    amazing shitt.

  • i think they have a very mars volta sound with all the 3/4 and ambient riffs. mars volta with clearer guitar parts and more understandable singing haha i first saw them in a skating rink and i have to say they were one of the better bands i ever saw at a local show

  • the intro to this song is so signature mars volta! I love the dear hunter i saw them live with say anything and the crowd was shitty everybody didn't get it, it was the typical close minded crowd lol. FUCK THEY'RE AWESOME!

  • I agree, the beginning is really mars volta, especially when they repeat it. It also reminds me of Ugly Organ era Cursive. But nonetheless I love this band!

  • why not?

how if you think these guys are terrible, can you like the mars volta?

both are in fact different, so refrain from being so closed minded dude.

    and both are amazing.

along with the Fall of Troy.

    :-)

  • I agree, but why bring up the fall of troy?

  • Because the fall of troy is da shizznit

    :]

  • Dude really. I love the mars volta and I think that the only way to be a true fan of them is to appreciate all types of good music, How can you truly say you like the mars volta and say that these guys suck. Maybe its not your "type" of music but they are the complete opposite of shit. They have creative ability that is beyond you.

  • zca and teahn know you're all a bunch of ass licking fags

  • amazing. i need to see them live sometime soon.

  • Julio and Casey jammin' together what more could you want in a performance.

  • ...Is that the bass player from As Tall As Lions?

  • This song is amazing!!!!!!

  • The Dear Hunter is fucking amazing.

  • the lack of a back-up vocalist is a bit of a letdown. still incredible stuff though.

  • I definitely agree. You expect it, so when it's not there it sounds off.

  • Serna is the Best!

  • That is the bass player from As Tall As Lions. I think he played most of the first several live shows with the Dear Hunter. They're all on the same record lable: Triple Crown.

Besides, who is as tall and groovy as that dude.

  • no back up singing? oh well it sounds incredibly well

  • My new favorite band? Prolly :D

  • is that the bassist from as tall as lions?

  • is that the bassist from as tall as lions?

  • It seems it.

  • they have the exact same style, if that's not him

  • that's definitely the bassist from ATAL. He's the MAN, such a great performer and musician.

  • hahah, dude, if you're right... that is insane because the first time i ever heard the dear hunter i thought they sounded like a way harder version of ATAL.

  • yeah, i know what you mean. The Dear Hunter sounds like a cross between ATAL and TREOS.

  • holy shit, that really does look like him!

  • these guys are soo sick

  • fuck. so good.

  • great voice !!

  • yes.

  • wow cool!!! casey you really rocks from treos til dear hunter... more power dude!!! i hope i cud buy some of your shirts..

  • thanks for posting this. great video

  • this person=correct

  • Did they play "1878"?

  • I'm from Texas. I was a TREOS fan that just kind of followed the whole story until it led to Casey starting this. I looked up them on myspace and found how amazing they were. I've actualy had like one or two lengthy messages with Casey on myspace, but in those I read all I needed to see that they are totaly going to go big. He's got the heart.

  • very very very cool. They're total going to get big in no time. I mean, they're already pretty big as it is.

  • so good

  • they sound great. casey has an amazing voice.
