@jmerlinb Well latest research says that the Moon is older than the Earth (by about a billion years), the Moon also has a different composition to the Earth, meaning it is very unlikely that the Moon was sheared off the Earth as most scientists theorize. So if it's older than the Earth and was never a part of the Earth then it at some point in time "arrived" in it's orbit.

Before the Permian extinction there were other types of reptiles, the most specific for us were the mammal-like reptiles. They divereged due to a change in dention and hearing. They began to have mammal characteristics. In short I don't believe in a sentient reptile. Mammals are evolutionary descendents of reptiles.

If they were, everyone died, because when the planetoid hit us, the entire planet turned molten. After a few hundred million years of extreme planetary formation, the moon was mostly formed by the time the earth cooled.
