this guy was raised in amarillo texas and plays every year at the celtic festival hes a hell of a nice guy and one hell of a talented player he started at 13 with lessons and soon discover he could play two.

This is a circus act. No real music in doing that. He is just randomly making a few tricks. Many of his movements are not really necessary, and many serious pieces are much more difficult to play than that. It looks amazing because nobody else does that, and I'm not saying it's easy, but it is like a juggling trick. A very entertaining one. However I agree that one can not judge his music by seing only this.

I actually saw a performance in class today by him and I have to disagree, I think he is an extremely talented musician and plays 14 different instruments. There is no trick involved, he is really playing the guitar, there is no sleight of hand in his work...

I don't understan your answer to my comment. I didn't say he is not talented, nor that he is not really striking the strings of those guitars. Of course he is playing. I just said that what he is doing in this video is more of a juggling act than it is of music.

I agree with breitweg I did see him in class today as well and to keep several different beats at once while one hand is doing one thing. He performed several other peices then this one and it was actually amazing.

i've seen him perform many times live and he is actually a very good guitar player, AND singer. The thing is...while you may be right in some respects.. the fact still remains...he was the one that thought of it, isn't he? And THAT is the mark of a true artist, which I am convinced he is.

I saw this guy last night and he is fucking awesome, anyone who says different needs to see him live. And when he plays normally he is absolutely amazing too. An absolute fucking genius

You're so right, bubblydom! Rodney can really PLAY (not to mention sing). This is probably one of those goofy things he discovered he could do at a party, and he does it just to give people a kick; no doubt he continues to play this because people want to see it. But having a gimmick certainly does NOT mean he lacks talent.

Those who mock need to listen to his serious music before passing judgment.
