  • he just speed up the clips and added new sound efects but still looks better than the original

  • @ABdirector you should go to George Lucas and show this to him I'm sure he would remake it :)

  • thumbs up if vaders light saber is or ange at the beginning

  • This makes episode 4 exciting! Finally get to see Vader in REAL action!

  • nicely done, but i also still prefer the original. ppl forget that it was made in the 70's and in that time having swords that are like lasers was a huge thing. sane for the rest of the special effects. u cant compaire the first 3 movies with episode 1,2,3. only thing good about the 3th was indeed the fast intense battle between obi and anakin. true star wars fans appreciate the original.

  • Yeah, definitely. I prefer the original. I mean c'mon, what can you even expect from a battle between half-a-machine and an old fossile? :DD It's not that intense, and as such it's more realistic. Compare it to like...Anakin vs. Obi-Wan in Ep. 3, back when they were both in excellent shape.

  • Did you change the color ? Because the color here is rich which looks amazing. Anyway this edit is way better than the original duel.

  • Dude, why sell yourself short? This edit is AWESOME!! I like it MUCH better than the original.

  • Brilliant!

  • I HATE how Alec Guinness calls him "Darth" in this scene. It's retarded. And obviously not the way it's written in the script. He should be calling him "Vader", "Darth Vader" or even "Lord Vader".

  • Brilliant!

  • My friend commented during the Yoda ,Dooku fight, "someone give that man a flyswatter!", Lucas has scrogged Star Wars more than any fan could. He created the universe of Star Wars, Now that we know the whole story pffft.imagine you're fighting vader "hey darth, Padme and I were scrogging the whole time you were off with Obi wan , and the darth needs to know his wife was a freak!", next scene"Im sorry Darth, don't cry(putting your arm around him as he sobs," I had no idea, Im sorry GAG.

  • This is... funny.

Look, when they sent Yoda doing cartwheels around Count Dooku the series jumped the shark. I take this in the same spirit.

  • 2:14 - 2:19 the greatest piece of acting in Alec Guinness' career. That smirk of acknowledgement. So coincidental Vader's initial words '...the circle is now complete...'

  • I would just speed up just like this for the blu-ray version and drop the whole "Vader's in a suit and Obi is older" BS.

  • if his powers are so weak, then how can he move so fast? for the more serious nature of the lightsabers' appearance, I ask you to think about the classic nature of the ORIGINAL STAR WARS FILM WHICH WAS RELEASED IN 1977. HOW MUCH OF A FAN DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO ENJOY THIS MOVIE?

  • This is very well done. Congrats! Enjoyed v-much.

  • Like the faster pace here - it does make it more intense and recalls the energy of the final fight that took place in Revenge of the Sith, the last time these two met.

  • very good

  • I agree that alot of the originals Saber duels look just a tid slow after watching the frenetic pace of the prequels duels.

  • How is it that a fan-boy with a laptop can make enhance this duel, and correct the sound effects better than Industrial Light & Magic?

  • That sounds of the crash of lightsabers ar Episode 1

  • Hey mate excellent editing. Is there any chance that you do this with the other two duels?

  • yay thanks for making this. the story is what made star wars great but i also like to have fight scenes that i can take seriously. can you also put "anakin vs obi wan" in the background too?

  • if obi-wan kenobi put on a few pounds , he'd look like santa claus

  • Nada Mal!!!!!!!!!!

  • judge me by my age do you?

  • awesome much better then original!

  • 2:20 lol

  • Looks realy cool, cgz dude!

  • cool, can you make them jump do back flips and spinning attacks now?

  • Better than the original i think

  • slow ass 70s shit vs prequel battles...ill take prequel battles any day!!!

  • @daralzand

tbh I think the luke vs vader fight in empire strikes back was pretty intense.

  • I don't get why he doesn't still call him Anakin

  • @gunvor69 probably to not ruin the setup for darth vader telling luke in the 2nd movie.

  • Please don't give George Lucas any more ideas for his next bastardization of his masterpieces. XD! Just joking. It is really good editing and I rather like it. Good job!

  • i find it funny how the storm troopers run over there to watch lol xD

  • @teamuirhead Well, since at least half of the Imperial Navy isn't clones anymore, I suppose they've just never seen Lightsaber duels before. But I guess they were expecting a more faster and cooler duel. Don't take me wrong, this duel is as good as the others.

  • @DarthRushy It really isn't. The 2 Luke-Vader fights were great even though they weren't as flashy as the new ones. This one wasn't.

  • @Statalyzer Yeah, well. I suppose it got better after Episode IV. I think that normal people would have fought like Luke in Episode V and VI. But Ewan and Hayden's duel was NOT sped-up.

  • @DarthRushy You are correct, it was not.

  • @DarthRushy lol yeah

  • Why did obi wan agree to be killed by vader????

    pls reply :o

  • @Beakle because he was no longer needed in the Star Wars galaxy alive, and because he distracted Vader from seeing Luke. And of course cos he wanted new powers and have a chat in the Dead Jedi bar.

  • @DarthRushy

    Haha nice, thx :D

  • I liked it. I somewhat agree with TheMartialartsJedi that it might have been speeded up too much (but not way too much), but I think you did a good job. I think it did add a dose of energy to the duel. Alec Guinness was in his late 60's and David Prowse could barely see out of the helmet, so I think that in this instance you have improved the scene. Just as long as Vader ignited his saber first.:)

  • This is not episode 4. THIS IS EPISODE 1 AND WILL FOREVER BE. IT´S A TRILOGY.

  • @CanalTal it episode 4 you cant change that no matter how much you say it

  • @CanalTal Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. That is an opinion. I also understand your hatred towards the prequels. I guess you're like this:

Hayden:You don't know the power of the Prequel Side. Join us and we will rule Star Wars...

    (You cut his head off)

I think that I enjoy all six episodes Lucas created and I don't care about CGI, Puppet Yoda/CGI Yoda, Flashy duels in 1,2,3 and slow duels in 4,5,6 and the differences between Sidious and the constant remakes by Lucas and all that stuff.

  • @DarthRushy The only thing you lack is FAITH IN THE FORCE, my friend.

  • @CanalTal Star Wars is awesome in all SIX episodes in different ways. I agree, the Original Trilogy can exist without the prequel, but I enjoy both. I don't lack a faith in the force. You do when you can't accept both the original and the prequel.

  • @DarthRushy The original trilogy was written to make the viewers imagine the story behind the main script, have you ever heard about the art of storytelling? Like when you read a book, you have to imagine everything for your own. In the same way, the original trilogy makes you imagine much more than what´s showing on the screen. While the prequels end all this magic, it doesn´t even makes you like it´s own characters, let´s not even talk about imagining more stuff.

  • @CanalTal Yes, but there's still a lot not told. A lot more to imagine. I agree that the prequel can have it's annoyances like the midichlorian rubbish, the too-powerful Jedi, Anakin Skywalker's very weird storyline, and so on. The prequel and the original are different, very different, but that's what Star Wars is about. Every episode is unique. And there's a lot we still don't know.

  • it's very good, i would love to actually see a modification in this duel in future releases of the movie

  • screw you haters this needed to be more intence this was the only slow ass moment in the orginal cut while the ship fights and shooting were fast pace, so why not a duel?

  • It would be better with two improvements.

    1) Its sped up slightly too much

    2) it doesnt need be sped up in some places at all, some need to be slower to create the drama. The speeding up needs to be done to cover some parts of the fighting

Personally, I like the original because its hilarious, and as soon as i see old ben skulk around that corner I start to laugh. Its the look in his eyes, the robes and the way he holds his suction pump saber, then you know whats coming...

  • Well done ;-)

  • This is terrible. This is taking some perfect - such as tits - and saying that speeding up the jiggle makes them better....Which is wrong...because they, I mean it, is already awesome.

  • This is awesome. It adds more continuity between the prequels and the original movies and hides some of the bad saber effects.

  • okay, maybe the sound of the lightsabers wen they clash is ok but the rest just --'''

  • hahaha stupid old man . . . there's no high ground here bitch.

  • @biggerholes LMAO!!!!! priceless

  • Vader: Obi, i've made you a toast!

Obi -Wan: It's a bit on the dark side don't you think?

    Vader: Lol

  • look liea has new hair

  • You know, this edit is on to something. With a bit more care, it would be a great improvement upon the original, which I'm sure they didn't do this to because of time constraints.

  • some parts are a lil' weird, but this vid. is not bad :P

  • 0:53 Obi Wan has a purple lightsaber?

  • Dont apologize for speeding it up bro. Alone it does not make a good duel, but to be perfectly honest their is no duel in star wars, with the possible exception of the final duel in phantom menace, where they actually display skill. Sped up they actually look more "skilled" in this duel than in their first duel in episode III. As far as making it more epic, they need force usage (which wasn't ever obi-wan's thing) epic music and ridiculously impractical choreography. But speed still helps.

  • @pnaught1 While I agree that speeding it up simply does not make it more intense and that the intensity comes from the characters, this was just an experiment in editing. In no way do I want this to happen (though it is a possibility) beyond a fan edit.

What would make this easier is if you read the video description first before commenting so you would have seen why I did this.

  • @ABdirector Actually, you did great with this. Everyone has an opinion. That's fine. I am one who watches the old films after watching the new ones and the one thing I would like to see in the old films is: , actually two things 1. For the Jedi/Sith/Force users to show power and skills such as force push, telekinesis, all that other good stuff, as well as lightsaber skill.

    2. The stormtroopers are weak, and the weapons on the ships are just lasers, in the CW they had projectiles, etc.

  • @ABdirector Dude, why do you think you have to explain yourself to this crybaby? "STOP FUCKING WITH STAR WARS" ...What a douche. Go sit in your cave and jerk off to the original Star Wars (which, btw, does not exist presently since George Lucas--you know, the guy who owns the movie--keeps "FUCKING WITH STAR WARS.") It's not a religion. Get over it.

  • @ABdirector Great! Could you make them sound like chipmunks now? Seriously...

  • @ABdirector I like the original fight a lot... and it actually makes more sense to me. But your editing was awesome! Great work and nice effort...

  • @ABdirector Actually it looks pretty good. Alot of people dont realize that though Lucas now says the fight in Episode 4 was supposed to be less physical, because of Kenobis aging and Vader, limited by his suit, that wasnt the intention @ all. @ the time they didnt envision a more complex duel but I'd still take it over any in the prequels!

  • Comment removed

  • @ABdirector Yeah but... there is no intensity from the characters in the original scene. It just looks like a bunch of geriatrics fighting over a dinner ticket.

  • @pnaught1 Well, honestly it does look moar intense...

  • @pnaught1 and i wish i could stop fucking your MOTHER but she is just so hot

  • @pnaught1 damm fan boys like you are annoying,, u swear like you cant put in the old original starwars the way they were in the dvd player and watch them ??? the old classic starwars movies, will allways be on dvd, & video, you will allways be able to watch the old ones, if those are the ones u prefure, that havent been edited,, the re edit's, like the ones lucas did back in the 90's, is just to improve the looks, for those who would prefure it to be improved, and this 1 is just fan made edit

  • @JOKAWILD26 unless you have a really old VHS from like the early 90's of the original unaltered movies, there are no original versions being made anymore. it's either the special edition or the 2004 dvd release. Lucas has said that the only version of the original trilogy that will exist is the special edition and anything he adds on to it.

and look i'm just saying that there is absolutely no reason to mess with the original Star Wars, it's fine the way it is. it just looks silly sped up

  • @pnaught1 The 2006 dvd release had the original film on a separate DVD along with the enhanced versions on another DVD. This duel looked more silly when it was slow to be honest. I have no problem with enhancing the old movies because I like them looking more modern.

  • @pnaught1 Try and remain calm.

  • @pnaught1 this duel was the worst of all the movies combined. It's better this way

  • @pnaught1 i agree, but please, dont be vulgar :D

  • @pnaught1 uhm yea it does make it better, the biggest reason I watched star wars is to see the badass lightsaber choreography like in the prequels, not this slow ass 70s shit

  • @pnaught1 You know, the original version is still out there, if you like that better, go watch that instead. If I had the time and gave a rat's ass, I'd make a new NEW version where Darth has pink hearts on his cape and helmet with a nice Spice Girls soundtrack, just to piss people off. Fortunately for you, I don't have the time. Lighten up.

  • @pnaught1 someone is upset

  • @pnaught1 waaaaaah!! waaah!! there there.

  • @pnaught1 i disagree.some changes like this are necessary. how can vader fight better against luke than old ben? and the new one where they change yoda in episode one is necessary as well. i mean, in the original versions, it looks like yoda was old in episode 1, younger in 2 and 3, and then old again in 4, 5, and 6. other things like hayden at the end or return of the jedi really arent necessary

  • @pnaught1 Well, I agree. But Lucas already fucked you guys in the prequel by making it faster. So he should speed up the original battles (or make the new ones slower) to coincide.

  • whoa! my pc froze at 0:56 and saw that, believe it or not, the slash mark is ON the wall before vader slashes it!!!

  • Even though Vader struck Obi Wan down, he still knew that he could guide Luke through the ways of the force, making him a Jedi master and restoring peace to the galaxy.

  • Ya true. They where slower because anikan was actchully fastest lightsaber wielding jedi and obi-wan is second fastest. When combined it makes the fastest lightsaber duel EVER. but anikan is 41 and obi wan is 63 so they become slower

Luke learned from obi wan first slow because he was. When combined when they where old it became the slowest. You made it the fourth fastest out of 9.

    still good job:B+

  • @MrSupermariologwoof its not just than they are older. i fogot where i read it, but in one of the stories that extends the star wars universe, it is shown that darth vader WAS still pretty quick and agile in dueling. but he nearly died during one duel and needed even more implants that caused him to have to figure out how to duel in another way. so, he focuses on using his physical force and a two-handed method instead.

  • Grandpa will be Obi-wan? Am familiar with Star Wars not only Ep 1, 2 and 3 have watched. And come from Germany. But it just so translated from German into Engliche.Damit's for you to understand

  • Great job :D

  • "A special effect is a tool, a means of telling a story. People have a tendency to confuse them as an ends themselves. A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing. " - George Lucas ... what the fuck happened....

  • okay can someone explain to me what just happened there? im a big star wars fan but i serioulsy do not get this part. why does he disapear? all the other jedis get cut into pieces why not obi wan? i am really confused about this part someone please tell me whats going on!!

  • @rojograndeypelu this was a really old movie and because of that they made the first person to die disipear, i know it's weird.

  • @TheTristen no, its not because the film was old. its because like jedi grand master yoda, when obi wan died he became one with the force. thats why his body faded away just like how yoda's did in episode VI: Return of the Jedi

  • @IREW93 i didn't see that scene from return of the jedi so i didn't know.

  • @rojograndeypelu In Episode III it was "implied" that Qui Gon Jinn had discovered a way to become one with the force and in the time between Episode III and IV, Yoda and Obi-wan learned this technique to reach beyond the veil of death. Which you see Yoda do, in Episode VI when he dies. So Obi-wan just takes a moment and prepares for this "type" of death, which like Yoda leaves no body. Think of it as if he just fades into one with the force, depriving Vader of his victory.

  • That was very good. It's, funny, I bet all the fans could get together and make a special edition that was actually good. Suck it George.

  • Good edit. Farvorited... not much I can really say about it.

  • You know a new hope is so lame......bad acting.......and bad choreography..........but i guess this is the best they could do in 1977.

  • @zainmehdi u MUST be joking right? a new hope is better than any of this garbage they have in cinema now

  • luke is so gay

  • now thats better

  • I still think this scene should have been more intense considering the Epic and Spectacular fight thay had in episode III.

  • @01villain ben kenobis actor was an old man and darth vader its imposibilited by his suit i mean the actor so it was really dificult to make a stunin choreography also the tecnology backthen was too obsolete it was really dificult for them to make the lightsabers now imagine how dificult would have been for them to make a quick and stunning fight with the tecnology in those years but they compencated it with good actors and now thx to this vid a smart coreography

  • @Erik1495 Yea i understand all that but what im trying to say is that now that the other pre movies have come out thay should remake the old ones and add extra parts and more Stuff with this technology we have now and make the old ones more exciting now and so thay can kinda make keep up with the new ones.. just just my opionion tho..

  • @01villain yea thats also a great idea

  • @01villain they were to damn old and slow lololol

  • chobacka :D

  • BOO everyone needs to stop messing with the originals! it's an old hermit fighting someone "more machine now than man." This duel, as it originally was, has MUCH more emotion than the ridiculously choreographed duels in the prequel trilogy. Those are so rigidly scripted and finite that it completely sapped any kind of emotional interaction... actually, any kind of interaction other than just killing each other. Go ahead, flame away.

  • @EpicPhalure I wholeheartedly agree with you. I would much rather watch this lightsaber duel than anything seen in the Star Wars prequels; there's so much emotion and history between these characters here that their duel is more of an expressive language than it is an expression over-choreographed and emotionless acrobatics.

  • @ZirconFortuna I totally agreed with that thought when RLM expressed it.

  • @quasiphatpaul *Gasp* Could it be that two or more people have the same opinion on a subject?

  • @ZirconFortuna Doubtful

  • @1thebug no i am the ultamate star wars fan, a true star wars fan does not care for the clone wars ones without a galactic civil war series, and does not take scenes from the movies without changing them.

  • that's pretty good I have to say.The first time I watched a new hope i was like the battle needed more intenseness.

  • 1:49, awesome cape move by darth vader

  • I think it's pretty much impossible to save this duel. It's still an old man and a guy in a mask clumsily hitting sticks. Before anyone calls me a prequel lover, I just think it's lacking in emotion. The best an editor could do is intersperse the duel with scenes of Luke et. al escaping, leaving out the awkward moments and focusing on dialogue. The movie is about Luke now, and the old struggle between former friends is only a secondary element of the story.

  • a little too fast, but still good

  • this is how it should be... at least!!!

  • A much better version for sure.

  • it will be better if obiwan can jump and salto force

  • @TheMartialartsJedi Maybe if he could insert the force speed sound in parts and edit the bumping, it would be awesome

  • you should've removed half of the frames when speeding it up, so it would still be 20fps or whatever. looks so awkard now

  • quick, someone play the yakity sax music!

  • Nice video but,

at 0:57 Obi wan is to fast when he is running ;S

  • the best u could do

the fight is already so terrible that even if 1000000 professional animators triesd, they wouldn't be able to match it with episode 1 , 2, 3's fights without changing the footage.

    The best u could do.

  • @aashish7kumar5 - Yeah but you gotta remember that Vader moves slower in the suit. And in the story, 20 years has passed between III and IV.

  • It really is more intense duel !!!

  • some of the speedup is good, some of it is a little much.

  • not bad

  • The original trilogies lightsaber battles were based off old Samurai movies. Nice and slow.

  • @FrosChannel

    And Lame.

    haha just kidding.

  • The questions make me understand what a nerd I am. I know this and the established doctrines like a reverend knows the scriptures. How could anyone not know by now the workings of the jedi order and the force?

  • I think you've made a great job - this fight looks much better.

  • why did kenobi disapper after he got hit?

on other thing: I hate anikan skywalker, They should have cought his trowht in his sleep...

    It's all his fault.

Sorry for my bad english (german, if you complain, try speaking german for a minute)

  • @PennJilette Deutsch ist Super!! :D

  • @PennJilette just before kenobi "dies" he becomes 1 with the force and dissapear just like yoda in the 6

  • @PennJilette Obi Wan disappeared BEFORE he was hit. In exile on Tattooine study he did to transcend the physical yes he did. It was a course of study in the force given to him by Yoda - Your English is superb ;)

  • Bravo, at 2:13 the look of Obi Wan is priceless. The Emperor had failed - Luke was on his way to being a Jedi and destroying the Sith.

  • @bluemax111f The thing is, Luke didn't destroy them. His father did, prophecy fulfilled.

  • Wow this looks nice man, like Lucas himself did it.

  • Not bad , but I had to watch it twice to really notice the difference. I was expecting some lame looping or something.

  • Nice it looks like they fighting like episode 3 :D

    More speed is good

  • Comment removed

  • @digitalintent This just goes to show that people who don't bother reading descriptions to videos are pretty stupid..

  • Comment removed

  • all u did was speed it up

  • @MrWolfLeader A lot of added sound effects as well.

  • WHY DID HE LET HIM SELF GET KILLED???

  • @tazmhs

He became one with the force either right before Vader struck him or right as Vader struck him. He did it so he could guide Luke to safety.

  • Its pretty good, the only thing that I dont really like is that when obi is coasting around vader it looks like he's floating... but other than than I think it looks really good! :D

  • T.T why obi wan why????

  • Well done.

  • Why are you guys complaining "it's too fast"? Anyone see Dooku in Episode II and III???

  • This is how it should be. Every lightsaber battle in 4,5,6 should be changed like this to coincide with 1,2,3. That way when the age old question "Can Vader beat Maul" is asked we can say "maybe".

  • 0:52 0.0 Insane 360 ..done by Obiwan

  • Awesome. very well done ABdirector.

  • WHY DOES THE sabers like so fat , it looks cooler when the look like glowing blade

  • love it. Something they needed to do when they remastered it.

  • This is how it should have been

  • oh? damn, in what movie do we find out about these ghost-forces? cause I sure as hell never heard of it! but yeah makes perfect sense now, thnx!:-D

  • Speed =/= intensity. Original is slower, more suspenseful, and relies on character and dialogue to add to the story instead of being an action scene.

  • good edit but keep in mind in 1977 this was some mind blowing stuff plus Alec Guinness was a bit too old and David Prouse a bit too encumbered to be prancing around like Erroll Flynn. Also this fight is classic kendo-style, small surprise considering how much influence Japanese culture via Kurosawa had on the Star Wars universe.

  • @RoninDave

    Yeah and that's not much.

  • @MovieMagicMaster not much what?

  • @RoninDave

Star Wars didn't take as much from the Japanese as you think. The Saga derives from so much more. Watch Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed.

  • @MovieMagicMaster I'm not saying 100% but Star Wars the first movie did share quite a bit with Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress. 3CPO and R2D2 are based on the two comic characters in that film. Jedi resemble in many ways samurai - their two-handed blades, their Zen-like ways, their strict training. Darth Vader's armor particular helmet is samurai-esque. The light saber duel in the first movie was very much like Kendo.
