Free trade agreements with less-developed nations like China along with outsourcing is precisely the reason why our dollar is falling. We're buying too many damn imports and not exporting nearly enough. Our trade agreements are skewed too much towards other nations rather than ourselves.

The failures of NAFTA should be enough to prove that free trade, at least with underdeveloped and developing nations, doesn't work. Colombia is much less developed economically, and from what I've seen and what many others like John Perkins and Ross Perot know, if you make a FTA with a developed nation like the US and developing nation like Colombia, chances are we're just gonna let corporate America exploit workers, esp. in that other nation(s).

I think you mis-understood my comment. I am saying that if a company wants to outsource something, it is because they believe that the place they are out sourcing can do a better job in that specific circumstance. If the gov. does not let them outsource in that case, they (those resisting outsourcing) are saying that the job should stay here because they "find Americans intrinsically superior to foreigners". In many cases US workers do a better job; but when they don't we shouldn't fight it.

Canada can produce pine lumber at about 30% less than we can. Canada sell to us at this cheaper rate. Our government adds a 29% tariiff on the lumber to match our prices.

Obama is hardly a racist? Well why was he a 20-year member of a racist church, and why are all of his three "spiritual mentors" racist? Just because you are mixed ethnicity doesn't mean you aren't racist. I rather have a man who was willing to give his life for his country, who puts his country first before political gain, and who doesn't associate with racists (and understands the dangers of populist/socialist economic policies) than a guy who just happens to still be married to his first wife.

Obama's "Christian" church is the one that gave Farakhan who has said some of the most disgusting anti-Christian and anti-Jew comments I have ever heard, and a bigot and a racist, a lifetime achievement award. McCain is running Republican, they claim to be religious. God forgive all sin, however; HE hates divorce. Carol didn't deserve to be diserted. Over 50% of marrages end in divorce, and it is not like John McCain just deserted Carol, they broke up. Carol was married before she met McCain too, so she already had a divorce before! People change, John McCain came back from vietnam a different person and they both had trouble trying to get things back to normal.Despite the divorce, Carol McCain has remained on good terms with John McCain,and has supported him in all his subsequent political campaigns.

If the U.S. rejects the free trade agreement with Colombia the only result is losing the last and only ally that the U.S. have in south America, outsourcing jobs is not what's proposed, it's only about the cost of taxes and impositions to trade of products, which you all should know are used to make products in the U.S. by the way Colombia is keeping the organizations that plead to destroy the U.S. and it's people powerless. if you love the states you should agree to the trade agreement.

Actually Peru is not anti-US, neither is Chile. And Colombia is the fastest growing economy in south America growing at almost 8% GDP. Anti-Us countries like Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Argentina are the one that are really struggling.
Venezuela has food shortages, Boliva is falling apart, Argentina has their major cities blocked by angry farmers, and Ecuador economy is sluggish.

And even when you have a great capitalist society, like the US once was, when you divert towards socialism it takes a toll. Let's bring our economy back to the free markets and no more protectionism. Let's create jobs for Americans and for our friends. The safest world is a prosperous world. We don't need Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, or Barrack Obama.

Free trade agreements with less-developed nations like China along with outsourcing is precisely the reason why our dollar is falling. We're buying too many damn imports and not exporting nearly enough. Our trade agreements are skewed too much towards other nations rather than ourselves.

You can't just have unrestrained trade!!! THAT IS NOT CONSERVATIVE!! It is liberalism repackaged. Conservatism is about restraint. Unrestrained trade makes no sense. There have to be rules governing this global economy. And of course, the WTO goes way too far in promoting free trade rather than fair trade, which is the opposite of what it should be.

Where are the promises of lower prices on clothing and cars? Cars and clothing are more costly than ever. I don't even know where you can get a brand-new car for less than 10 grand, and you've got all these commercials offering low APR and "cash back" to soften the blow.

The failures of NAFTA should be enough to prove that free trade, at least with underdeveloped and developing nations, doesn't work. Colombia is much less developed economically, and from what I've seen and what many others like John Perkins and Ross Perot know, if you make a FTA with a developed nation like the US and developing nation like Colombia, chances are we're just gonna let corporate America exploit workers, esp. in that other nation(s).

Do you know what will happen if we add windfall taxes to businesses and penalize them for outsourcing? From a different perspective, when jobs go overseas its because they can be done better (more cost effectively) in other countries. Wanting them to stay in America when they can be done better elsewhere is sort of like saying "Providing jobs for Amercans is more important than providing jobs for Columbians, because US citizens are better/worth more". Its just silly. You can belittle Mccain all you want, but in issues of classical ecomomics, Mccain is almost always on the side of economists.

I think you mis-understood my comment. I am saying that if a company wants to outsource something, it is because they believe that the place they are out sourcing can do a better job in that specific circumstance. If the gov. does not let them outsource in that case, they (those resisting outsourcing) are saying that the job should stay here because they "find Americans intrinsically superior to foreigners". In many cases US workers do a better job; but when they don't we shouldn't fight it.
