  • I started out hating Yoga X but now I love it. Im 46 days into the program and all I can say is that Plyometrics is way harder than Yoga X. I hardly sweat at all during Yoga X. Plyo on the other hand, has me sweating buckets.

  • Yoga X rules. All of the workouts are difficult, but Yoga X and Plyo are the two hardest for me. I'm 52 days into the program, and those two workouts still kick my ass the hardest. Out of all the workouts, Yoga X makes me sweat the most. I'm 27, weigh 220, am 6'1", and have broad shoulders with a bigger upper body. I don't know about other guys similar in size to me, but I find that having a bigger upper body makes certain workouts really hard, especially Yoga X. Lots of mass to lift.

  • i was wondering if the yoga is necessary to do if so why. please someone answer because im not doing yoga nor kempo. please someone reply. thanks.

  • @dantedmc93 Yoga is the foundation of the program. It's the only workout you do every week of P90X. The reason is that it is very important. If you've watched this video, you know why. Kenpo is pretty basic cardio, which you could get from a run or some other substitute. Yoga is key.

  • @thefitclubnetwork oh alright i guess ill add yoga to my schedule. thanks.

  • This a time where I wish I had much more space to talk about this.

    The yoga is all powerful.

First off, it teaches you to combat mental stress and it teaches you to combat physical stress by using mental techniques. You can use the *ability to last longer* taught by yoga to do many more reps in all your exercises, while actually exerting less stress than you did before. I did way more pushups after doing yoga because I could just keep pushing my body. You get stronger faster this way.

  • You know if you actually do what he says which is "clear your mind, be in the moment and do your best" It really is quite an enjoyable DVD.

  • I'll be honest, I still hate yoga! xD I'm not so flexible, but I was the one who decided to do this, so I do it! even if I don't like it, I still do it, why starting doing a program to change if you are not going to trust it will work in the first place, so suck it up!

  • I actually like the yoga workout, it is difficult and its good to have flexibility and there alot of isometric stuff on there as well, also tony horton is one funny guy, makes the workouts better, nothin worse then a trainer with no personality , big old serious head, not a fan of that, p90 x is great

  • WHY!? BECAUSE YOU DIDNT DO YOGA!

    awesome.

  • Yoga is an excellent workout! Its a great supplement for my running.

  • I used to hate Yoga. I just kept trying and trying to do all of those stretches. Some days, I would make it all the way through Warrior III, some days I can't. But each time I try, I get better and better. Those that struggle, keep trying!! You'll only get better and better at it. Sooner or later, it won't suck as much.

  • haha i love Tony Horton

  • I got nothing agains yoga, its just that p90x yogo is so long and kinda boring unlike all the other workouts.

  • @newlandsfaithful Yeah, you've got a point. Since this video Beachbody has released three other individual yoga workouts with Tony and the new one with P90X2. All of them are about an hour long and they are all much improved over Yoga X.

  • @thefitclubnetwork Really? I think i could do an hour. How can you get a hold of these individual videos? (Not the p90x2 one though). Do the stores sell them indivudually?

  • @thefitclubnetwork Oh found it. thanks btw

  • @newlandsfaithful Yeah. They are part of the One on One Series that Tony did over the past three years. Do you have a Team Beachbody account? Yoga X MC2 in Vol. III is probably my favorite. People like Fountain of Youth as well. Patience Hummingbird is slow, but very good.

  • @newlandsfaithful a friend of mine says the only way they can get through the whole thing is after getting....stoned.

  • Actually, hes 52 ;)

  • Holy crap, he's 50??!

  • 5 people are substituting Yoga X for Cardio X

  • love you tony!!!

Yoga is my favorite, believe it or not

  • WELL....whoa. Really?

  • haha, I can't take him seriously without his tank top

  • Preach it Tony! lol

  • I sweat more in the yoga workout then anything else. Love it. Hurts but i feel better after it than anything else.

  • Tony is such a good speaker

  • " You keep it up, you'll be a embryo " lololol

  • Yoga X is one of my FAVORITE p90x workouts, day 74, I kill yoga :D

  • It's a really good workout, but it's so fucking annoying and repetitive, I'm literally scared of Yoga day in the week.

  • Jim carry @ 1:15

  • I love yoga, is the best workout on p90x, i m 20 years old, and really fit guy, everything is easy for me, but yoga, and i got lots of results with it, i was like tin man a mont ago, now on day 27 i m gumby, i can go way further than my toes with my hands and i could not get to my uncles 27 days ago, yoga x rocks!

  • @Musgoso3 "I'm gumby". Good stuff.

  • Heh...in sunday and i want to do yoga x before i do my x stretch....so i go to youtube to check out what people think of yoga x....and i find this jewel...so awesome :)

  • yoga x made me sweat the most but also feel the best next morning, i hated it at first, then i loved it because of how i feel the next day ! i do it more and more now. it's awesome !

  • I love yoga :), Especially when you're all sore.. It knocks it right out, least for me..

  • Yoga is the veggies of P90X, a lot of people don't like them but you know you need them.

I hate yoga just as much as the next guy, that's why I substitute StretchX for another yogaX every week.

  • should i do yoga at 13?

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS That's a question for your doctor. I'm really not sure whether that could cause any problems or be very good for you. Yoga X is very strenuous. My kids do a much lighter version of yoga and love it.

  • @thefitclubnetwork thanks ill think about whether i should not do yoga or a lighter version of yoga. i really didnt like yoga when i started it it just seems so dumb.

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS Yoga is not age discriminant.

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS man i'm 14 you can do yoga, your question is like: can i do chest and back ? ofc u can :)!

  • @grymmatarmar well im 14 now too but i hate yoga

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS Yeah thats the problem i don't like it either because its 90 minutes long.. i could stick with it if it was 60 min or something

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS i dont think it should b a problem. kids r much more flexible.n it's always better to start earlier than when you reach ur adulthood where it's gonna b much harder to become flexible. it's just like kids doing gymnastics only tht yoga is safer n healthier(i used to b a gymnast when i was a kid n i cn say the flexibility kinda stayed with me but not entirely. but i quit n grew fat, not that it matters to u LOL). anyway, point is, for me it's a yes. hehe.

  • @CODvideoPRODUCTIONS never to early.

  • Love Tony!

  • he is so right, i do the p90x yoga wich i think is an excellent one, and i also do other types of yoga, to me YOGA IS GREAT!

  • @magunin21 Yeah. Yoga X is a great workout. I mostly go to classes at this point. It gives me some variety and keeps things interesting. If you think Yoga X is boring because you've done it 200 times, check out a class or one of Tony's One on One videos. The new Yoga X MC2 from that set is really good. Great workout.

  • @thefitclubnetwork i removed yoga x and replaced it with the hummingbird yoga on one on one

  • Holy shit this guy might be a bit silly but i never gave a sht about strechting unless i was at a sports practice or something.... now im gonna do yoga lmao. i wonder what that lady was thinking when he was talking when he was bringing up the tin man and gummy bears lmao...

  • @christinasmckee She was thinking, "this rules, he's going off!" I knew he would when I asked him about it. I'm probably dating us here, but he's talking about Gumby, a character from a kids show that was sort of made out of silly putty and could bend in any direction. Do your yoga. It's good for ya.

  • Holy shit this guy might be a bit silly but i never gave a sht about strechting unless i was at a sports practice or something.... now im gonna do yoga lmao.

  • True. If it hurts , it works. Look at him, he's the living truth to that. He looks great for 50.

  • @tonibals Looks even better now at 53. The man is a finely tuned machine.

  • I usually skip it because I can't even go into flat flatback and keep my legs or back straight as soon as the angle is over 40°...

  • @g00thier That seems like precisely the reason not to skip yoga.

  • im 15 ad do yoga all the time time, I hate it when they say yoga is for girls!! its BS, I can do better than almost all teens my age because of yoga.

  • Yoga X just flies by if you just empty your mind. I was daydreaming for like an hour before I realized that an hour has gone by. It definitely worth it though. xD

  • @ShamamalamaSama same here

  • @ShamamalamaSama And that's the truth, Ruth!

  • He's a boss and I get shit done when I do this workout with him as my Instructor!!

  • Yoga X takes so long and sometimes makes me sleepy, I been skipping it sometimes but this week I got to get back in it !

  • Damn! Tony Horton has a great personality! lol he inspires me

  • Yoga X... 90 minutes long... i love it... but i hate it

  • My only problem with doing the yoga is....I can't stretch my arms into the "sky" because my hands touch the sealing. and I also have flat feet so it makes doing some of the one legged stuff hard.

But still gonna "BRING IT" lol.

  • I don't need to watch this video to motivate me to do Yoga (or at least X-Stretch). I just do it (at least once a week first thing when I wake up) because I know I'm gonna feel good for the rest of the day and all be ready to hurt adversity instead of adversity hurting me! "Thank you, I have nothing else to say" (Tony's voice).

  • Those who don't do yoga don't deserve to do yoga.

  • Well said Tony. You rock

  • this guys hilarious

  • i always skip yoga, it's not too hard, but it's too long and i get bored. i like to workout with my music on, and it just seems weird doing yoga with music that i listen to. i do cardio or stretch instead.

  • @pewpewlololo If you're skipping Yoga X to just do the stretch or cardio, something's not right. If you work to get into and maintain the PROPER positions in Yoga X, you'll get in a LOT more muscle involvement than is possible with the cardio or stretch and you'll be sweating your a** off. Yes, it's a long routine but if you do it right and push yourself, you will be feeling it the next day. Other than Plyometrics, it's probably the hardest workout in the series.

  • @jocwalk i agree with everything you said, but the problem is - i can handle the sweat, the sores, heavy weights and pushing myself, but one thing i can't stand while exercising is boredom. and i believe that it would be better to do cardio x that i like and commit to it, then do yoga just for the sake of doing it and waiting till time passes.

  • Haha funny bastard...Tony Horton is a BOSS!

  • hahaha motivation to do yoga! :D

  • I always watch this before doing Yoga X and it never fails to get me psych up! Thanks for posting this!!!

  • @xilllllix HAHAHA, that's awesome.

  • I hate yoga, too, but I do it every week without fail. I never once stretched in my life prior to P90X, and I have to modify some of the moves, but I do it. There is no excuse for not doing it unless you're physically disabled.

  • i couldnt do yoga but i kept for a while and decided that i should start with x stretch and work my way to yoga so i do plan on goin to yoga soon

  • Forget the people who hate yoga! I love it! I feel so good after I'm done with it it's like I just woke up from a nap but my muscles are loose as a wizards sleeve.

  • @iKrackeD HAHAHAHA, that's a good one.

  • @thefitclubnetworkThanks! Seriously though its great!

  • I can't do yoga X , tried several times but still willing to keep trying

  • Remind me of Jim Carrey

  • Yoga is hard but soooo worth it, my goal is to do the splits again, I'm 25 but when I was 10 I could naturally do the splits. I want that again! I want to be strong, fast, healthy but most of all flexible! -crosses his arms in a X- Bring it!

  • this guy is amazing! I know some people think he is corny but I love his sense of humor and personality. He always keeps it real, fun and never takes him self too seriously! Really pushed me to get fit!

  • Thank you for a great video. TH knows how to encourage people :)

  • haha Tony is the man! he is a great role model, great attitude, a well rounded person, that is someone i a can truely say i respect...

  • Yoga is one of my favorite workouts! I can tell just from doing it that it is easily the most important workout in the whole program. Without yoga, the rest of p90x would kill you! he is right.. without yoga you will get hurt.. torn muscles, shin splints, bad joints, those are in your future if you skip yoga!

  • @KurNorock All hail Yoga. I've been beating myself up pretty good lately doing triathlon training. I did Yoga X from the MC2 One on One's last night. I feel so good today.

  • @KurNorock

i allready have shin splints... hope yogo x is gonna help to cure this.

  • Even when he's getting interviewed its still like popping in the P90 X workout DVD he's still encouraging to do it even if you don't like to do it.

  • @redmustang03 The man loves the camera...and his comedy. Love TH.

  • Well...whoa. Really?

  • to all you who think yoga is boring its because its the same music over and over which makes me bored to. so do the workout with the music off, which is an option in the menu and download a bunch of zen music and blast that shit! Also listen to pump up music durring every other workout. Its how i get through them everyday no problem.

  • @okcomputeA Great comment. The music kills me. I always play my own stuff. Usually something pretty mellow for Yoga, but I get it going during the other workouts. Very helpful. Thanks!

  • I can't do the yoga but the x stretch will help change all that in time.

  • @aadeebindy Keep pushing.

  • Granted the yoga is a bit boring and definately hard but i wouldnt recommending skipping it at all, believe me i hate those yoga workouts but after im finished i feel stronger for it... and if anything i feel centred and prepared for my next workout. If anything they give my body the push it needs to get rid of the strain from the previous workouts and get all relaxed and stretched out for the next one.

    Yoga forever

  • yoga is the hardest fucking workout in the p90x program i can do everything else but only half of that workout

  • @nojockey Keep working at it. Take a little break in between the different sections if you need to, but get the whole thing done.

  • lol..plus i just did yoga x today

  • Just did my YogaX for the day! :)

  • lol...i'm thinking of returning the P90X back to where i bought cos it's a tough program. but i'll give it another try cos i think i LIKE this man.. lolz..I'm not gay by the way.

  • @KitSamka Not like there's another wrong with that

  • Thanks Tony. Just what I needed to hear. Now let's do some Yoga!!!

  • @lowpass1 hahaha right on.

  • I'm going to be honest and say that I skip out on the Yoga DVD. HOWEVER, I replace my Yoga workouts with the Cardio X DVD which has some yoga in it. I hope to become flexible enough to be able to complete the Yoga X workout. but for now I have to do my best and forget the rest =]

I want to add that I am 6' 4" tall. When I started P90X I was 311 lbs. Not all was fat but a lot of it was. I wont lie. This is my first go around with it and I am in the middle of my third week. 18 pounds so far. =D

  • @TimmyTwelveTux Awesome start bro! Keep it up. Recovery week is coming up. Give yoga a shot. It's hard and you'll struggle. Just roll with it and do what you can. It's really good for you. Either way, just keep going!

  • @TimmyTwelveTux

That Great!!! Also, you could find a shorter video of Yoga or something that might be 30 minutes and more for beginners to get you used to some of the basic poses and forms. Getting a beginner DVD at Target or online like at hulu.com would definitely help introduce the movements to you where as if you do Yoga X at first, it might be a little too in your face if you have never done yoga before.

  • THE KIDS ARE DOIN THE TWITTER!

  • God, I love Tony Horton and his witty-ass lines

  • I want to do yoga but it's the ONLY disc i'm missing :(

  • @69ggag Missing? Did you get it from Beachbody? Another good reason to buy stuff from a Beachbody Coach.

  • @thefitclubnetwork I had it when I bought them all but I lost it. Would it be okay if I replaced it with x-stretch or core synergistics?

  • @69ggag

You could always just download a pirated version and burn it on a dvd, i did that when my dvd player kinda blew up with my plyo dvd in it. Since you own the original, you are allowed to download it i believe.

  • @69ggag X-Stretch would be better. You could also pick up one of the One on One yoga workouts that Tony did. The MC2 Yoga X DVD in that series is great. It's shorter as well. About 60 mins.

  • @thefitclubnetwork Thanks

  • If it hurts it works!

  • I'm 50 years old and I'm GUMBY <3

  • I LOVE p90x and i agree that yoga is extremely important but my god its the most boring exercise routine in the entire package

  • @Suburbncomando32 Yeah, the P90X MC2 package will address a lot of these issues. There will be stuff that is super challenging, so you'll constantly have room for progression. The modifications will be easy, but the hard stuff will be hard.

  • @Suburbncomando32 I agree with you that the yoga X is a double edged sword. Now that I hear about extremely important it is, i'm going to go back and try to do these horrific hour and a half boring movements again. In the future, I may substitute the Yoga X video for a supplemental yoga video that makes the routine more interesting.

  • @NemeanLion Check out the One on One Yoga MC2 DVD. It's only about 60 mins.

  • i need to hear to tony say this because i find yoga to be very boring not hard but extremely boring. i guess now im going to start doing yoga x instead of skipping it.

  • @RA032890 Exacty! I been skipping it and doing turbo jam instead, giving it a try for the first time today!

  • i love this!

  • I like yoga, but yoga x is just torture!

  • I think I would actually probably die without yoga

  • @SuperUltraMegaBOOM Don't know about that, but you sure will live longer. :-)

  • Lol, tony looks like jim carey at 1:19

  • Amen

  • My butt burns so nice while doing yoga X!

  • I am about to do this disc again. I did it so well and was not tried last time I completed it. Yoga X!

  • I am about to do this disc again. I did it so well and was not tried. Yoga X!

  • Yoga is hard, but very necessary.

  • Yoga is awesome! Especially Yoga X! :)

  • You go tony!!!1 Own them idiots haha

  • actually to me yoga x is okay. I dont really struggle with it except maybe for its length but once the vinyasas are done it gets easier. The one i do hate is abripper . It sucks to finish a session and then remember that you have 15 minutes more of abs.

  • i hated yoga during the first 2 weeks, but then i got a little bit stronger and flexible, i did all the push ups during the vinyasa, got my knees off the ground during upward dog, i was able to hold the right angle pose all the way, and now it is one of my favorite work outs i look forward to

  • @HLGToys you wrote this comment as if I said it, thats exactly how I felt. I hated it then I learned to love it. Yoga does equal the fountain of youth.

  • He's not talking about strictly yoga x but yoga in general.

  • @AMPepin1992 Correct. This was filmed at a yoga retreat he held in Jackson Hole, WY. We didn't do Yoga X every morning there. Instead we did about 45 mins of vinyasa yoga in the morning and 45 mins of yin type yoga in the evening. He's a lot more complex than people give him credit for.

  • @thefitclubnetwork

Wyoming huh.. He should come back to Connecticut, his home state and give us some lessons. :)

P.S. Are you the girl in the video interviewing Tony?

  • @AMPepin1992 He's actually from Rhode Island, but close enough. He goes to Jackson Hole every year for as long as he can. I think the book tour ate into that pretty good this year. My wife Monica is the one interviewing him in that video.

  • @thefitclubnetwork I read somewhere that Tony was born in Rhode Island, but he grew up in Trumbull Connecticut.

  • i do YOGA X daily. after i started doing it everyday, it seemed everything in life got so much easier. mentally and physically. been doing it for 2 years now. p90x for 4 years.

  • @MasterOogway1 Amazing how that works, isn't it? I'm always grateful to Tony for introducing me to Yoga. It's not something I would have been open to before P90X. So glad that changed.

  • Do you know what extreme yoga is? Is when you hit your mouth with your head

  • I don't care for Yoga X BUT I do like how it stretches my lower back. I now do 30 min. of yoga and then 30 min of plyo or Kenpo.

  • @buckmark23 Give it a shot. Check out the new Yoga X MC2 from the One on One series. It's only an hour. Great workout.

  • I don't think anyone challenges that Yoga is not beneficial. Yoga doesn't suck. The complaint is that Yoga X sucks. To a degree - I have to agree. I think that it is great for an experienced Yoga practition. However, a newbie could very well cause more damage than good. Learning the correct form takes time and an experienced instructor to correct flaws. Incorrect form leads to injury.

  • @bt9772 The most common complaints from people are that: (1) its too long; (2) its too hard; (3) its not hard enough; and (4) "yoga doesn't do anything". The people in the #4 camp have likely not given it a try. I think Tony does a great job explaining the proper form. Yoga is a pretty tough place to get hurt unless you are pushing your body way too far, which you could do with stretching as well.

  • @thefitclubnetwork Agree to disagree. Even Tony in the video stated that often your body is not where you think it is. Therefore, no matter how good a definition of form he provides, you may not be executing the a particular pose correctly. I also take exception to the statement that Yoga is a "tough place to get hurt". You are correct - if you push to far (as with stretching) you will ge hurt. Unfortunately, a beginner may very well not know their limits.

  • @thefitclubnetwork As I originally stated - Yoga X is terrific for one well practiced in Yoga. However, it is a little ambitious and possible dangerous for a beginner. Just my two cents. Again... agree to disagree.

  • @bt9772 We will agree to disagree then. Yoga X was the first time that I really did any serious yoga, only having done the brief warm up in Power90. I was the Tin Man. An ACL on the mend and a bunch of nagging hoop injuries kept me from really getting the most out of Plyo and Legs & Back. Yoga X changed all of that and lead me to attend a number of different types of yoga classes. It's hard and takes practice to master, but so do pull ups.

  • @thefitclubnetwork Glad to hear you have had much success. I guess the real key is to find what works for each individual. Gotta say... overall the program is terrific. Anything that gets somebody exercising 60+ minutes a day is a good thing. Best regards...

  • Holy shit. Tony Horton is 50?

  • @Loner4Life 52 actually. This was almost two years ago. He's a freeking machine.

  • i finished yoga x today and now i feel alot better about the economy and Obama

  • He's Michael Scott from the Office

  • Yeah, I guess people don't like it because it's the most time consuming disc in the package. Yeah, you combine Ab Ripper with the other ones, that'll make them about 75 minutes, but this one's 92 minutes. :P

I'm doing P90X for the second time, and after not doing it for a while, the first week was a real pain. But I remember that's how it was before. Usually when you get to week 3, you feel more motivated because you start feeling and noticing the changes. :)

  • let me tell you a thing or two about a thing or two, 'cause i know a thing or two about these things

  • @ReassuringSmile LOL. He was so fired up when I told him what my question was going to be about. We were Jackson Hole at a yoga retreat he put on.
