@rawhide901 Yes... I think that I could have been run off the track twice by that rider if memory serves. I didn't really know what to expect my first time out, so I wasn't too worried about it. Wish I could have gotten that last rider though... almost did. Thanks for the view and kind comment! Waiting for riding season now.
I am watching my video to get in the mood for the spring riding weather! Man I love the torque of the VFR coming out of a turn. Safe riding this season everyone!
nice! you can see that you've got 22 years of experience ;) the VFR is better then i thougt... a month a go i traded my CBF600 2005 in for a VFR 800 2007, but the wheater is not so good for riding now, can't wait to twist the throttle ;)
@ardnfast ... I fabricated my own mount that mounted to three of the bolts in the gas filler cap. I plasma cut the basic shape, heated the steel to about 900 degrees Centigrade to bend it to the proper angle, drilled holes for the camera mounting, and finally powder coated it. It took about 3 hours total.
@GerwinChita ... Track day beginner, yes. Riding beginner, no. I have been riding for about 22 years and finally got up the nerve to take my bike to a track day. I was so worried about balling it up and carting it home, but the Viffer was awesome on the track. I was riding Pilot Road 2CTs. I considered putting on some race tires, but the Roads got nice and sticky and balled up nicely. I can't wait to do it again on a more suitable bike.
nice job, i enjoyed that... what was the guy in front of u ridng? and hiow did u find the vfr round the track? i'm thinkin of taking my 2001 for a spin soon...
@ardnfast ...The VFR was great around the track. I could tell that the 500+lbs were pushing the tires pretty hard, but it was very predictable at the limit. The linked brakes helped really helped under hard braking. I passed a number of bikes, 600 and 1000 sport bikes included. You will learn a lot on a track day... mainly who is posing and who is willing to hang it out. Anyone can go fast in a straight line! Haha! Track ANY bike and you will have a blast!
mate cheers for getting back to me... i too was worried about binning my beloved girl so i took a mates "pre loved" r6 round the track 1st... awesome time! had the sliders scratched on my 3rd session during a no-brakes drill and managed to round up a few 1000's, had a ball... havin pilot road 2's fitted as we speak, will let u know how they and the bike go...
Mate! Good riding. Inspiring.
I recently got a VFR800 myself after a 11 year layoff from riding.
I put Michelin PilotRoad2 front & rear.
The combination is awesome.
For a big, heavy bike, it can be ridden hard and aggressively, as you have shown in your clip.
Makes me want to go to a track as well.
Have you gone to a track day again?
Have a clip of it?

Nice video, and you did very well for the first time on a track.
I would like to make a few suggestions . . . slow earlier and use lower gears before the turn, accelerate earlier and keep the revs above 8000.
Be as smooth as possible and your lap times will get better and better.

@YosimeteSam ...late braking is the only way I got that big viffer around the track faster than the others. It was a blast!
