Treasure it because these original 309s are getting quite rare now.
I like the way the Peugeot attempted to disguise the manual choke switch by moulding it to fit flush with the dashboard fasia when choke was off. They did the same with the 205 as well.
Well said! Carbs All The Way! We had the Diesel 309 (mechanical injection of course) And was just as reliable. Shame My parents sold it for a Clio!!!!!! AGGGHHH!
@NickExton309 The 309 diesels are bullet proof...A friend of mine has one...Even the reg is 'J309***'...haha!!
I've got a mint condition 1.6 GLX in white as well this one, and you can see Chris's 1.4 GL parked in the street.
Another friend called me yesterday...He had taken his family on holiday...Did he take their new car?...No of course not!...He took his trusty 1990 1.3 309...haha!!!
Well...It was a very long journey and he needed to know he'd get there and back with no worries..haha!!!
@88GTi I know Peugeots 205 and a lot of other models from peugeot are fantastic cars with an astonishing reliability. I'm thinking of buying a 309 next year as my first car (I'm 17 now). So, will it be a good choice? I know it's not fast but is it fast enough for daily trafic?
@ottooke007 This model is 1294cc OHV. Chain driven engine...No cambelt worries!
5 speed gearbox. Top speed 105-110mph 40+ mpg on fuel...Great first car!
They don't rust! Very pleasant to drive! Best model to get is a 1.4 (1360cc)
1.4 Peugeot 309 will eat a 2.0 VW Golf for breakfast...No Joke!!! (We have both cars!)
All models are very easy to work on! I have been driving the car in this video as my daily drive since 2006...Never had a problem!!! If you get one let me know! :)
@88GTi Oke, thank you for the information. I'm very interested in cars so I will work on them :).
I was considering a Golf too but the Pug looks like a better choice to me now. Indeed I'm going to buy the 1.4. I certainly don't want an automatic gearbox :p. If I need some more information, I'll send you a message. ;)
@ottooke007 Go for a 205 or 309 with the 1.4...Just you wait and see how fast they are!
None of your friends will catch you...haha!!!
The only thing you'll find with a 309 is the door to the clove box will probably have broken catches...Nearly all of them do...But they are very easy to fix!!!
Everything on them is SO easy to do...When you buy one you'll find all this out for yourself! :)
Chris got his 1.4 just as a cheap car...He's still driving it 3 years and 45K miles later...haha!!!
My experience with Peugeot is far from vintage but my previous car was a 307 CC and although it had a 'brain,' it too loved the cold weather. (I'll just crawl away and sit in the corner then).......
None of my cars have cat converters, sensors or any EGR crap...Only two my cars have a brain...Very small ones to control the fuel injection...That's about as far as I'm going! I can't be doing with lights that come on which just cost me money!!!
@djbazzmaster Mmm? Very interesting! You may have them...But your car doesn't require them by law.
You only require a CAT if your car was registered after 01/01/93...Take e'm off and stick a nice weber twin choke carb on...It'll go so much better!!!
See the Blue 309 in the street...That's Chris's one...It's a 1360cc TU engine the same style as your 1.1...Registered 4th of August 1992...Made with No CAT...Goes like stink!!! I have a 1.9 205 GTI as well...I can't shake him off in it...haha!!! :)
@djbazzmaster Sorry...I just looked at your profile...You're in Holland...haha!!!
I haven't got clue what the law is over there where you live?
You may well need a CAT?
I also have a very early 1989 phase 2 1.6 GLX 309 in white...Under the first cover...She only comes out in the summer...haha!!!! Just looked at one of your videos...Squeaky steering wheel too...haha!!! How's your 'Glove box door'? We are lucky...All 3 of ours are not broken yet...haha!!! :)
mine needs a cat. its build that way. my glove box is perfect, no problems there. the only problem is the ''ashtray'' that keeps falling out. maybe ill just glue that shut haha
True, its a 1.1 from from January 1992. the overall state of the car is allmost new. allmost no scratches and dents. it was a car from a older couple, so it allways was parked in a warm garage. no rust .. no leaks ..all perfect!
@djbazzmaster Excellent! One of my friends 309's does let a little water in the back...But it's a 1.9 GLD and has had a hard life...But none of the others do and we have ten 309's between me and my friends and family. None have any rust as they are all made from Galvanized steel panels...The one in this video 'George' had only done 36K miles when I found him...He's done 53K now...I changed the clocks for GLX type so I could have a rev counter...But I set the mileage the same :)
@mifan93 It's snowing again right now and it was really cold last night!!!
George is good to around -100F...haha!!!
Chris still say's it's Summer time and someone is just sprinkling dust around...haha!!!!
He's spending the day (and night) at his girlfriend Alisons house...So I'll be doing it on my own today...SO HURRY UP AND BRING THAT BLOWER OVER...haha!!! :)
Nice good old car... I had a white 309 some years ago. good to see some are still runnging well like yours. cheers from France

@2cv56 I have two white 309's...The other is a 1.6 GLX...Both of them are amazing cars!
If we get some cold weather this year I'll do cold starts of all of them including my 205 1.9GTI...The colder it gets, the more they like it...haha!!!
Greetings from England!...Thanks for commenting! :)

Haha its the time of the year that i go searching for peugeot 309/205 snow video's ..and look where it got me ...AGAIN! ... GEORGE :-) !
djbazzmaster 3 months ago
@djbazzmaster Old George is patiently waiting on the drive for the cold weather to come...haha!!!
He doesn't care how cold it gets!...As soon as you touch his key he's running...haha!!!
I'll do another video if it gets cold this year :)

Great car mate - looks a really tidy example too.
Treasure it because these original 309s are getting quite rare now.

@SuperTabitha22 Thanks! He's sitting on the drive outside right now waitng for the snow and road salt licking his lips...haha!!!
He just aced his MOT today with no advisories! :)
I also have white 309 1.6 GLX ...She has an auto choke...Always starts on the money though...There's a cold start of her on here as well.
Even Chris has a 309...The blue 1.4 GL on the road outside...That thing is stupidly fast!
Don't worry...They are all treasured!
Thanks for commenting! :)

Who needs a brain? We got by fine without them before 1982! Now they just get brain disease and break you down!
