  • HOW COULD JOSEPH SEE GOD?

John 1:18: No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

  • I add my testimony of the great work of the Lord, not just when he dwelled on the earth but today.. We all need to take a step back and now that the very essence of who he was and is being attacked all around us! Stand up with us all that those of us that are believers of Christ and doers of his words! May we stand by his side not just when he comes but in our lives daily!!

  • ARLINGTON, VA. - After years of sharing space for Sunday meetings and mid-week religion classes, singles in the Northern Virginia area just across the river from Washington, D.C., have their own building.

  • Critics typically claim that Latter-day Saints rely on "feelings" in lieu of "evidence" -- thereby implying that there is no rational thought that factors into their spiritual testimonies. This is unmitigated nonsense and contains at least three errors -- the first two of which will be discussed in this installment. . .

  • In last week's issue, I argued that secular evidences alone can never offer the power to convert anyone to the restored gospel. Undeniable secular evidences for Joseph Smith's prophetic status would frustrate the necessity of agency and would still likely not change the hearts of those who adamantly reject the Prophet.

  • "God speaks, not spoke" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

  • How can we tell if Joseph Smith?s claims of a First Vision were genuine or fraudulent?

  • @jayhawk88z By reading the Book of Mormon diligently and pondering in your heart, then conclude with an sincere and ernest prayer to know it what you read was true, that you keep the prayer in you heart always, and as it did with me, you will know that it is.

I bear my witness to you that was you may read will touch you with the power of the Holy Spirit. I know that.

  • @masterskyrunner The problem is mormonism disagrees with the Bible concerning the number of gods and the state of marriage. Mark 12:25 Matthew 22:30 Luke 20:35 1Cor 7:39 Deut 4:35.

  • I'm not trying to attack your faith but I'm a firm believer in Jesus Christ and just as you want to talk to me about Mormonism I wouldn't feel I was doing my duty if I didn't defend what I think is the truth "which will set you free". And I think the truth is the Bible and I understand that you believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon but I'm saying the Bible doesn't really need/have a companion. I don't hate mormons I respect them, but I respectfully disagree with them.

  • @ChristianRootsMan Thanks for your respectful approach. I admire anybody who stands firm in their belief of Christ in the face of societal pressures and faithlessness. Nobody can say for sure how many Christian traditions actually survived throughout the ages. We can only attest to what we know survived, not what was lost. The Old and New Testament did miraculously make it to our current day, but is it exactly as it was when the prophets and apostles first spoke it or recorded it? Probably not.

  • @DefendingMormonism while i agree all christians should at least look at the book of mormon just in case---but even at that and the doctrines dont match.they arent even close.

a biblical christian and mormon cant agree on anything pretty much.

  • @DefendingMormonism is it even possible to believe the Bible & book of Mormon? that would be contradictory; for 1 thing thruout the bible Jesus is clearly the Son of God with all Gods spiritual attributes. Jesus warned of false prophets who come in his name. Paul said there would be doctrines of demons that would mislead. the doctrines of Joseph Smith were said to be given to him by an angel of light. the only angel of light in the bible is Lucifer who's not Jesus' spirit brother in scripture.

  • @ChristianRootsMan Can you point to any specific passage where God revealed that the Bible and only the Bible is the sole word of God? Would you be willing to declare that God is truly a respecter of Persons when His own word states that he is not a respecter of persons? If he is not a respecter of persons, then how can you say that God contained his revelations and teachings in the 66 Books? By whose authority is the 66 books God's only word? Man's or God's? No Christian has answered this ?

  • @TimothyRBerman Yes, in the book of Revelation it says that anybody that adds or revokes any of these words, so too shall the plagues be added unto him. Also, even if Christians were permitted and were at liberty to add new books to scripture, I still wouldn't accept the Book of Mormon or Mormonism in general simply on this premise since in a lot of areas I see these as diametrically opposed to the Bible and Christianity in teaching. God Bless.

  • @TimothyRBerman God has not stopped speaking to people by any means, but I believe that no written Revelations are recieved, since the last works of the New Testament, that are to be written in to a book for the teaching of fellow men. God can speak to us individually but adding to the Bible I believe to be prohibited. Other works such as the Catholic Church Catechism can be held in esteem but still never elevated to anywhere near the status of the Holy Bible.

  • So if we have preserved traditions of Jesus from his time, I think they are historically reliable, thus preserved with no need to be resotred. So they are reliable and yet they don't speak of some of the things Joseph smith does? isn't that modification not restoration of something that is already preserved? For instance I don't ever see Jesus saying we can be Gods, that he was going to the americas, that we were spirits in another realm before life. So aren't this just JS's teachings?

  • @ChristianRootsMan More importantly, despite surviving ancients texts, God has always given authority (priesthood) to act in His name to humans, and scripture alone is not enough to run God's kingdom, according to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Mormons teach that in the Restoration, not only were revelations received to clarify Christian doctrine, but authority was given by God to Joseph Smith to perform Christian rituals such as baptism, and to speak in God's name.

  • @ChristianRootsMan I think the essential texts were kept, all texts that tried to masquerade as true Christianity were expelled.(E.g. Gnostics)So I think all we need is the New Testament, there were other writings inevitably but the ones we have are all we need. The truth is taught in them. I have read parts of the Book of Mormon admittedly not a substantial amount but a lot of the doctrines seem completely new and even contradict previous Christian doctrines,so isnt this changing not restoring.

  • So the passion narrative is also evidently pre pauline as he refers to the tradition of the ressurection teaching in 1 Corinthians 15 passed on to him by the apostles, and scholars date this to Pauls first trip to Jerusalam which was c. 38AD, so the traditions of Jesus in the Bible are closer than most/(all) other figures in antiquity (of that time). As most traditions of that time were oral traditions thus not written to much later. (continued)

  • I just want to ask a question and see your response because there is a few things I don't understand about Mormonism. I believe it can be proven (and a lot of scholars adhere) that traditions in the Gospels go back much further than the Gospels themselves. Such sources as (Quelle, miracle sources, Martthew and Luke Special independant sources etc...) some are evidently pre pauline (before 50AD, the sacraments are, and also with the Eucharist there was a telling of the passion narrative.continued

  • I echo the introduction to this video. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and the Book of Mormon is true. These things I know, not because I am told to or forced to, but because I know of it by the workings of the Spirit of God. We are to be lights unto the world (although the true Light is Christ) to bring souls unto Him who gave His life that we might live.

  • @LDStothecore Appreciate your testimony. God bless.

  • @DefendingMormonism Thank you.

  • Millions of lights are turned on at dusk and turned off at 10 p.m. on Temple Square and 10:30 p.m. on the areas surrounding the square. The light display continues through New Year’s Eve. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will also perform 16-19 December for 100,000 people, and a First Presidency Christmas devotional will be broadcast 5 December throughout the world from the Conference Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  • There are 13 or 14 camera operators in all, who rotate assignments week to week. "I love it," says Brandy Vega, who has been working with the choir for six years. "It's such a great experience to come listen to the choir, to be part of this production," she says. "And no matter how often I hear it, I cry every single time at the end when they sing 'God Be With You.' "

  • This website's great value is not found just in its numerous,

also in demonstrating the ultimate compatibility "of things both in

  • The Hughes Brothers have been performing in Branson for 16 years. In that time they have been able to attend at least a dozen or more baptisms of audience members, employees and business associates who were first introduced to subtle gospel principles in their shows.

  • John does not name Mary in his Gospel, but calls her "the mother of Jesus." Jesus simply calls her "woman."

"While efforts have been made to explain Jesus' reference to her as 'woman' as a sign of respect or deference, there is little precedent for this in either Greek or the presumed original Aramaic words of Jesus," Huntsman wrote.

  • "Some things were hard to get used to," Taylor said. "I remember she couldn't play on Sunday. 'Why not? Why does it matter?' I didn't understand why girls shouldn't wear a tank top."

Matsumura says there was no preconceived plan to convert Taylor. She simply enjoyed her company.

  • The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, contains a record of God's dealings with a part of the House of Israel. It contains prophecies of Christ and also reveals how Christ, after his resurrection and ascension into heaven, later ministered to those who had waited for him in the New World. The Book of Mormon was anciently abridged by a prophet named Mormon and was engraved on gold plates, to preserve the sacred writing for a future time.

  • Malachi's words were considered so important that the Savior gave to the Nephites all of chapters 3 and 4 of Malachi, which end with this prophecy of Elijah's return. After commanding them to write the words (3 Ne. 24:1), he explained, "These scriptures, which ye had not with you, the Father commanded that I should give unto you; for it was wisdom that they should be given unto future generations." (3 Ne. 26:2.)

  • @THELDSLIFE Well put.

  • until many were led into the commission of crime; have been apprehended and broken down by their opponents, and many have been obliged to abandon their country, their families, and all they possessed, and great affliction has been brought upon the whole Church. What shall we say to these things? Did not your prophet proclaim in your ears that the day was your own, and you should overcome; when in less than a week you were all made prisoners of war, and you would have been exterminated,

  • -and plan after plan has been overthrown, and our Prophet seemed not to know the event till too late. If he said go up and prosper, still we did not prosper; but have labored and toiled, and waded through trials, difficulties, and temptations, of various kinds, in hope of deliverance. But no deliverance came. The promises failed, and time after time we have been disappointed; and still were commanded, in the most rigid manner, to follow him, which the Church did,

  • Early mormon John Corill left mormonism after problems in Missouri, and in 1839 he wrote: I have left you, not because I disbelieve the Bible, for I believe in God, the Saviour, and religion the same as ever; but when I retrace our track, and view the doings of the Church for six years past, I can see nothing that convinces me that God has been our leader; calculation after calculation has failed,

  • "We have a saying," Darowski said. "That 'when you stop looking for something, that's when you find it.'"

  • I love how Elder Maxwell asks us to "Feast" in the revelatory banquet... it sounds much nicer than what Isaiah said.

"For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean. 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

Indeed, the waters in which we drink come from the spring high a top the mountains... the milk is as pure as mama's milk and the Holy Spirit is strong!

  • @THELDSLIFE

Elder Maxwell likely used the analogy as a sharp contrast to that of Isaiah's - hearing both provide great imagery.

  • @DefendingMormonism

It's just SO unfortunately true! MANY people tell me how much more they trust in their leftover meals and treat the new banquet as something to throw away like the bones.

It's Alice in the Looking Glass they prefer to eat the bones. I just don't get it!

I hear them talk about how great the original banquet was.

I suppose that even chewing on bones can give them nourishment but good God, come inside people! Its a dark age mentality and its getting ridiculous!

  • The spirit witnesses to our souls that the gospel of Christ is true. (1John 5:5-6)

That same spirit can be felt by men who do not have a doubting heart. Blessed are they who have not seen but still believe, so said the master to Thomas, who would not believe unless he had a definite manifestation of his resurrection.

In like manner, blessed are those who did not live in the days of Adam, Enoch, of Noah, Abraham, Moses, of Isaiah, of Jesus and of late, Joseph Smith and yet believe.

  • The subtle conflation of the location of two trees in the Genesis account seems intentional, preparing readers for the confusion that later ensues in the dialogue between Eve and the serpent

  • There was a bazillion attacks on the prophet Joseph Smith!

IT must mean that at least ONE of them is true!

This is a tactic used in business at times; its called, "a shotgun" approach... not even a bullet that was shot at him as a boy would even kill him... None shot at him in a barrage of gun fire can touch the hero again.

His testimony sure... his prophet-ship sealed up unto him with the testimony of his own blood. I testify that he will stand along side the Christian martyrs that John saw.

  • Elder Maxwell was amazing. I still miss him every time I watch Conference.

  • @UShistoryX2

    Ditto :)

  • Strive to increase your knowledge of all that is virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy. Seek knowledge by study and also by faith. Seek with a humble spirit and contrite heart.

  • Brethren, you have a duty to learn as much as you can. Please encourage your families, your quorum members, everyone to learn and become better educated. If formal education is not available, do not allow that to prevent you from acquiring all the knowledge you can. Under such circumstances, the best books, in a sense, can become your university—a classroom that is always open and admits all who apply

  • During challenging times, it is even more important to learn. The Prophet Joseph taught, Knowledge does away with darkness, [anxiety], and doubt; for these cannot exist where knowledge is

  • Joseph taught the Saints that knowledge was a necessary part of our mortal journey, for a man is saved no faster than he [gains] knowledge,8 and that whatever principle of intelligence we attain . . . in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection

  • Joseph Smith loved learning even though he had few opportunities for formal education. In his journals, he spoke happily of days spent in study and often expressed his love of learning

  • For members of the Church, education is not merely a good idea—its a commandment. We are to learn of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, things which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad

  • THANK YOU for this wonderful video! A+

  • amazing video..amazing man!

  • amazing video, i love this..joseph is a hero...he did the lord's work and brought the true church back, the only true church upon this earth.

  • Your comment is just one of the many reasons that your church is not Christian and is a cult.

  • Isaiah469- Your comment is just one of the many reasons why using the term "Christian" to describe so-called "Christians" like yourself is probably a misnomer.

  • Why because I called out the spiritual arrogance of thinking that your church is the truth on the earth. Jesus is the truth, not a church. Thinking that your church is the only way to Jesus and the only true body believer (as well as many other things) disqualifies you as part of the body of Christ. Of course you can join the body of Chrst as soon as you want to, you just have to choose to truly follow Christ and not a man or a religious system. The Spirit and the bride say come.

  • Isaiah469-

It is unfortunate, but if you had lived in Jerusalem at the meridian of time, you would have likely also thought the Savior Jesus Christ "arrogant" when he declared that he is the way, the truth, and the life.

We do not worship the Church. That is merely your perception, which is incorrect.

We worship Jesus Christ. It is He who has established His Church in our day as the means by which we can learn His Gospel.

To you I say likewise- the Spirit and the bride say come.

  • No, Jesus was telling the truth, but your church lies saying it is the only way to Jesus. God established His church almost 2000 years ago, after He prophecied about this redemption for around 4000 years. You think that he let His plan get thwarted after 60 years? Ridiculous, God always has a remnant. If you take an honest look you will see that Jesus is not the center of your church, He is not who is spoken about in your meetings and who it proclaimed by your missionaries.

  • I have attended your churches and Jesus is mentioned in a couple of your hymns and in your prayers only, He is not the subject of your meetings. You hear the names of your leaders more than you hear the name Jesus. And in your testimonies are of Smith being a true prophet and of your church and not of Jesus redeeming your souls and allowing you to spend eternity with him. How often do you just tell people of Jesus and not add Joseph Smith to discussion?

  • Isaiah469-

To put it simply - you are wrong.

Telling others, and trying to convince yourself, that we do not worship the Lord Jesus Christ, that we do not put him at the center of our Church, and the center of our lives - will get you nowhere because it is not true.

Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I value my knowledge of him over all else. I treasure my experiences with his Atonement as priceless.

And I am grateful that through Joseph Smith, I have an even better understanding of Jesus.

  • If you really love Jesus that much then eventually you will see the difference between the LDS church and one that really lives for Him. I pray that God continues to draw by His Spirit. Hopefully we'll meet in heaven one day as two who have been redeemed by the Lamb.

  • How many times did you really attend the LDS Church? one or two times? I've been going to the LDS 25 plus years and EVERTHING is centered around living a christlike life, its all about his redemption, his sacrafice, his obedience to his Father in heaven. He is the subject of ALL the meetings and his spirit is always prayed for. Other churches add HYPE and not substance, LDS follow through and see the widows, homeless, sick and father-less. They are DOERS and not hearers only.

  • I will give it to you that LDS people are good at taking care of people in need. The fact that you do that is commenable. I have only been to a few services, but my wife who was in the church 25 years agrees with me and so do all our other friends who left the church. The services mention Jesus but they are not all about HIm, when LDS people talk, they speak a lot of the church but little of Jesus, and if you look at your hymns you can see that there is a lot oher focus besides Jesus

  • The sacrament ALWAYS has hymns that sing about his sacrafice. The testimonies are always centered around thankfulness for Christs sacrafice. The Church is Christ's so when thankfulness is centered about the church it is all about Christ and not just lip service but true heart felt charity and love for Christ and for the saints.

  • I have one question, do you believe that man, gods, angles, and satan are all the same species? Thus making Jesus and Satan our older brothers?

I ask this because if you are following the same Jesus and Christians then we should believe He has the same origin correct?

Christians believe Jesus is the God not a god and he has always been God and is not a created being.

Who is your Jesus? Satan is trying to take the true Jesus away from you!

  • The purpose of most people against the church is to somehow put satan and Jesus on the same level we do not, He was in Heaven and fell from it so he was our spiritual brother but that is all. He was not a God and is not the creator of this earth, Jesus is and that's what the LDS teach. That he has a Father and he was the creator of our spirits, Jesus is devine and created many worlds under the direction of his Father, this can be all found in the scriptures if you really want to look.

  • First Thank you for not calling me anti-mormon. I am not at all, I am against Mormonism, it is so full of lies and satan uses it to take away from the truth in who Jesus is and the power in the Bible.

Now, you believe there are many worlds with people like us on them correct? why then was satan sent here? LDS teach they are brothers and both work in our lives right? We also can be gods on another planet? What does this say about the true and only God? Think about it!

  • Also please feel free to show me how you were shown this to be true?

I would like to share how the truth in the Bible will set you free!

    God Bless!

  • Paul said that we are heirs, what is an heir? Rom 8:17. Doesn't that mean we can inherit what God has? and what does he have? Worlds without number. So God is going to keep it all to himself? If you really believe in the bible believe in ALL of it not just bits and pieces. The lies are how many interprete the scriptures and mold it to their teachings. The LDS use much more historical facts theorically than most of you born-againers do. satan was cast out it says so in Isa 14:12.

  • Every Christian lives in the hope of glory to come. Our hope is best summed up in 1 John 3:2: "When [Christ] shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." David said, "I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness" (Ps. 17:15). Our great hope is to be in heaven in God's presence and be like Christ. The theme of Romans 8:17-30 is our hope of such glory.

  • I also have to add that if the LDS use "historical facts" as you say, what have you found to support the BOM? The Bible get proven true more and more every day, the BOM??? not at all...I am not trying to point fingers just stating facts. Look it up yourself, dont go ask your biship or other church leaders, LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF.

  • Click my name and watch the videos! Nothing to support the BofM? See farms, fairlds, jefflindsay. The LDS have mounds of evidence but anti's continue to dissuade and elude people from the truth.

  • Oh yeah I forgot you have the kinderhook plates, the Hill Cumorah, the Book of Abraham, Indians were the Lamanites, etc. Lets see you list a couple things here, not all since there must be so much right?

  • :)

    1 Cor. 12:3

Sometimes I envy those people who grow up in 3rd world countries w/o access to the internet and all the philosophies of man.

God loves them just as much as those who grow up wealthy, educated, financially successful, etc.

And they have just as much a chance to follow Jesus Christ faithfully with all their heart.

All they need is a witness of Jesus through the Holy Spirit, and they can rely on their entire lives.

Why must it be different with any of us?

  • God only wants to spend eternity with us. can you agree with that? Eternal separation from God is HELL!

Now according to the LDS there are 3 levels of heaven. only one is with GOD! So the lower levels are Eternal separation from God. Would you want that of anyone? now if they are not LDS and follow all the rules and rituals can they spend eternity in the highest level with God?

  • Exod.: #1 Do you assume that LDS believe that everyone who has ever existed, must believe in the restored gospel? The whole point of the gospel is that of non-neglect! Neglect was a charge against early Christians, by early critics. They & LDS, because of the doctrines have been restored, testify that God isn't neglectful of any soul that didn't hear about Christ's atonement & get many opportunities to change, repent & follow him. Thus, to not be neglectful, God sent angelic messengers,

  • Exod.: #2 God sent prophets, missionaries, & spoke to the nations in all ages & in all times, except when they lost the spiritual gifts & fell away into times of apostasies. When that happened, God was not neglectful of giving the millions of souls chances to hear the gospel, for he again sent angels, prophets, messengers, saints to preach to them in the spirit world. Thus, some got their first hearing, others, once disobedient, many hearings. Christ also went to other nations in pre-birth,

  • Exod.: #3, & post-resurrection world wide missions to show the world his resurrected glorified body; & so they could become eye witnesses for Christ through scriptures. Thus, in not being neglectful in these ways, God has made it possible for his children to be able to return according to what light & knowledge they were given & according to the prophets & messengers that they learned of Christ from. So to answer your question, they wouldn't have to be LDS to be saved in ancient times.

  • Exod.: If you think that Christ didn't go to other nations, realms, or send any prophets to other lands; who then wrote down God's word, like biblical prophets. To then become their scriptures in their own far away lands from bible lands. If you think that God only spoke to biblical prophets in biblical times only. Then your faced with challenges to answer early anti-Christians' charges of neglect. Plus the challenge to find out what doctrines early Christian apologists used to answer!

  • Exod.: Do you have "right Jesus"? Jesus of 4th century Nicene Creed? 3 in 1 Godhead? A Jesus & Godhead formula said to not even be in scriptures, according to those Fathers who gave us that creed. If so, are you also asking LDS to believe biblically backed doctrines Fathers wrote about, that of deification = becoming gods? If not, why? Why don't you also tell LDS that they're not Christians because, in addition to said creed, they, (LDS), don't believe in 4th cent. Fathers' deification?

  • First you need to trust the Bible. You really do not instead pass it off as almost correct. You follow a man made system of writings that show god as changing and always changing his mind. Polygamy yes...wait no...wait yes...wait no.... then blood attonment the only way...no don't do it...yes do it..no I changed my mind again.

If I was LDS I would not know what to do. am I saved? yes wait now im not... ok I am saved...darn now I am not???

    Trust the Bible! ALONE!!!

  • Exod.: #1 Trust the Bible ALONE!? Which bible? The ones that respected the book of Enoch as scriptures? The Shepherd of Hermas? Or the one that kicked out the Book of Rev.? How about those that start with pre-existence themes, rather than just the creation? Or those that have temple type bible illustrations in them? Which version of the bible would you suggest is the best, most correct & represents the original messages as it was originally written? Which bible do you use & trust?

  • Hmm which Bible? maybe the JS version? The best way to test a version is to see who wrote it. was it a man following what man wanted or was it writen my many who were lead by God? I really think you need to look up the Dead Sea Scrolls, they can help you find the truth and (if any) problems.

Oh by the way which Book of Mormon do you use? The original 1830 edition (black skin is bad) or the changed 1965 edition (blacks can be priests)? plus all the other changes.

  • Exo

you never asnwered restored's question. Why do you fear that answer?

We Mormons are pretty use to your AVOIDANCE!

  • Sorry I thought it was just typical LDS false interpitations. I try to not attack the lost to much but ok let me see here...looks like the typical missuse of John 10:16 "other sheep" and other false views. I may run out of space so like RESTORED did I will use multi. comments.

Your Apostle James Talmage "The 'other sheep' here referred to constituted the separated flock or remnant of the house of Joseph..." But this is not correct, If you actually read it in context...

  • The passage is a reference to the Gentiles who would soon be presented the Good News of salvation and engrafted into the Christian fold. Mormons deny the Christian interpretation by insisting that Jesus meant these "other sheep" would actually hear His literal voice. The problem is the message could be transmitted by some other means than by the actual speaking of a person.

For instance, time and time again the children of Israel were commanded to listen to "the voice" of the Lord...

  • Read Deuteronomy 27:10; 1 Samuel 12:15; 2 Kings 18:12 to help you here. Despite this warning, rarely do we find the children of Israel ever actually hearing the voice of the Lord Himself. Instead, God used Moses and other prophets as His mouthpiece. Of course this was the old testament books and After Jesus we did not need further Prophecies the Bible is complete.

Anyway back to the subject at hand...

  • There are good reasons why the Christian church has understood Jesus to be speaking of the Gentiles in John 10:16. Though Jesus' specific ministry was directed toward the Jew, this is not to say that Christ ignored the Gentile people living in Palestine during His mortal ministry. A classic example is Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman at Jacob's Well in Sychar (John 4:7-26)...

  • In Matthew 15:22-28, we find our Lord heeding the request of a Canaanite woman whose daughter was "vexed with a devil." When Jesus tested her faith by explaining that He was "sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel," she humbly replied that even lowly dogs "eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." In response, Jesus told the woman that her request was granted (vs. 28)...

  • Our Lord's use of the word sheep cannot be ignored since it is the same language he used in John chapter 10. Jesus' actions in these accounts fulfill perfectly what was spoken of Him long before. In Isaiah 11, God's prophet predicts the day when the "root of Jesse" shall stand as a banner to the people, and "the Gentiles shall seek him" (6:10). In Romans 15:8-13, the apostle Paul refers to this passage as being fulfilled in Christ...

  • In Isaiah 55:5, God calls unto all of those who are spiritually thirsty, including those who were not recognized as a nation. In Isaiah 56:5,6 the Lord promises to give an everlasting name that is better than that given to "sons and daughters." This name would be given to the "sons of the stranger," an expression used to speak of foreigners in Israel who did not have inherited rights (Exodus 12:48; 22:21; Leviticus 17:15; Acts 7:29)...

  • In the 16th chapter of Isaiah, it is predicted that a day would come when a deep darkness would cover the people while at the same time "the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising" (vs. 3). The prophet Malachi also foretold of the day when God's name shall be "great among the Gentiles" (Malachi 1:11)...

  • Following Christ's death and resurrection, the disciples carried on the tradition of taking the Gospel to the House of Israel. However, when the Jews rejected Paul's message on his first missionary journey to Antioch of Pisidia, he declared that he would take his message to the Gentiles. In doing so, he quoted from Isaiah 49:6 which reads, "I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the ends of the earth."...

  • This emphasis is further realized in Ephesians 2:14. Speaking of how the blood of Christ has brought together those Gentiles who were alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, Paul stated, "For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us." You cannot ignore this passage and that of John 10:16 are the same...

  • In Ephesians 3:3-5 Paul revealed a mystery that "in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men," but had only recently been revealed to God's people. According to Ephesians 3:6, this mystery was the inclusion of the Gentiles as "fellow heirs" who would partake of His promise in Christ by the Gospel. Though the Old Testament gave scattered hints to such a time, these references, like that of the ministry of Christ Himself, was not fully understood until it actually happened...

  • It was only within the context of Christ's sacrifice did the passages become clear. The once-separated Gentiles were now on an equal footing with their Jewish counterparts. Through the acceptance of the Gospel, they too could experience the intimate love and personal relationship with their Creator.

I hope this helps you put to rest any connection the LDS have made from this verse to the BOM. This passage speaks directly of non-Jewish Gentiles.

  • @Isaiah469 you have it all backwards what jesus is to the lds people, you are making a mountain out of a mole hil,its plain and simple we believe and worship Jesus Christ plain and simple if you cant come to grips that we do then get over yourself and swallow your pride!.

  • @getdownto311 My comment has nothing to do with my pride, but of a concern to see the people that God created worship Him the way that He desires them to. If you want to talk about it further feel free to message me and I would love to talk to you. Not here to attack you, but I hope that what I say makes you think because there are a lot of people who think that they are in the truth and are not. I was one of them and that was when I had to swallow my pride, get over myself and repent.

  • We testify that He will someday return to earth. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him. Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts.

  • Whysitsotough, while I appreciate your passion and that you have not been deceived by the teachings of LDS, your name calling and foul language will only further convince themselves that they are somehow enlightened, and that people like you are "lost" and in "darkness".

I could be the most eloquent and gifted apologist of the Bible of all time, but if the Holy Spirit has not softened the heart of a Mormon, they will not listen. Satan appears as an agel of light and has deceived them all.

  • Sadly, there are at least 22 different verses I know of that are racist against people of color and blacks. Just read 1st and 2nd Nephi Jacob, Alma, 3 Nephi Mormon, etc...

Mormon 5:15, for example: "...shall become a DARK, FILTHY people..."

Alma 3:6 says that DARK SKIN IS A CURSE!

2Nephi 30:6 "...scales of darkness shall begin to fall...they shall be a WHITE and delightsome people." (LDS adapted this in 1981 to say "pure" ilo "white". Obviously not inspired words from God)

  • The Mormons point to the great Mayan ruins to establish that there was at one time a great civilization in southern Mexico and Guatemala. However, the Maya had their own pagan religion and history that has NO (i.e. NONE!) connection to the supposed Book of Mormon people.

Historically, the Bible continues to be one of the most accurate historical books ever written. To this day, they still unearth places mentioned in the Bible. The LDS book lacks any archeological & historical evidence.

  • It has been around 170 years, or more, since Joseph Smith first published the Book of Mormon. To date, there is not one artifact that can be identified as being made by the people of the Book of Mormon. Also, there is no official map designating the location of any Book of Mormon city. Joseph Smith preserved an example of the supposed writing on the plates. No other sample of such writing has ever been found in the Americas.

for the true gospel of JESUS CHRIST

  • From what I have seen, comments get removed in which LDS has no legit response to.

Another question that I have heard many people ask, is if LDS is a church that authentically believes in who Jesus is, why is there not a cross on any of their churches?

For, with out Christ's work on the cross, there is no hope of salvation, no grace available to sinners. For it is by grace you have been saved, NOT by works, so that no man can boast.

    = )

  • LOL

    And then you woke up!

  • Revelations was easily the last book written. All legit scholars put it around 90-95.

  • John wrote the book of John after the book of Revelations.

  • John is around AD 85 at the latest. "more recently some scholars place the book as early as the 50's and not later than 70's" .

Revelations: Majority of legitimate scholars place the date around 95-96 AD.

Also, it's worth reminding that Revelations is a revelation from Jesus to John. So, when it is said not to add or subract, it is with much authority.

Also, a reminder of Jn 10:30, where Jesus said "I and the Father are One."

  • Think about it. Seriously. In very recent history, a man comes along and claims he has new revelations from God, and then adds his own books to THE Bible!

He missed where it says in Revelations not to take away or ADD to the Bible. Also, Christians know the Bible says that God's word is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Yet, LDS has had to ammend it's book with numorous "progressive revelations" to help cover up all the historical, archeological errors&doctrinal contradictions. WAKE UP!

  • pleasurerider2009- Are you seriously going to try and use the "add/take away" argument using the scripture in Revelations?

Since you unfortunately do not understand the history of the Bible, I wonder if the silliness of this argument is even worth refuting.

Did you know that the New Testament is not in chronological order?

Revelations was not the last book written - so according to your logic, the Bible books written after it would also be "amended" "progressive revelations"!

    Pls study up.

  • Have you read Galations 6:1-12, or does the LDS say it has not been "translated correctly"?

  • Joe SMith should have showed more fear of the Lord and his written word, such as Gal. 6:1-12 where, among other things, it says ..."and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed..." But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • Joe also should have looked at these scriptures and treaded more carefully, and less arrogantly:

In the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1 Timothy 4:1

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11

For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

  • Deuteronomy 4:2

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

  • Being smart doesn't make it Biblicaly or doctrinely correct. Don't forget, in regards to your "smart" question", Many WWII historians concluded that Hitler was also very smart man, but..... you know the rest of the story.

You can't just come along centuries after the ressurection and assention of Christ and suddenly declare you have some new revelation and new books to the Bible. Especially with the detestable personal life that Joe Smith lived. No way! That's an abomination!
