LOL! Spaces, a good concept. It's one of the most useless features if you ask me. plus it's not their concept, lol. Workspaces have been a Unix/Linux feature for years longer than with OSX. Only time I have ever used Spaces is when I was running Parallels. I'd have Parallels fullscreen on a separate workspace. Also Time Machine taking time is out of Apple's control. It's pulling the data from an external drive. There's bound to be a lag.
well, then DON`T sett the apps to different spaces, when i want safari and for instants imovie in different spaces i just drag imovie out of the screen into another space, easy as that, and if i want to have 'em in the same space i don't sett 'em to open in a different space
Is there anything about Snow Leopard that bugs you? Because in this video you said that you wanted it to open folders in the stack, and in Snow Leopard it does that.
I just now watched this video and the reason Time Macine is laggy is because of the internet connection. Once I got a faster connection and used wireless N everything was cool.
Just disable Spaces, and remove all those applications from being assigned to a specific space. Just use Exposé!
Yes you can customize Aqua, try Magnifique or I know of a Terminal command which reverts Aqua to like its predecessors. I put the lag in Time Machine down to your hardware. You can set it to back up at customizable intervals, the default is 3600 seconds. If I were going to criticize, it would be how OS X isn't fully 64-bit, and won't be for years.
Safari 4 Pubic Beta was released on February 24, 2009, she made the video on January 23, 2009. At the time of making this video, Safari 4 Public Beta had not yet been released.
you clearly dont understand the concept of time machine.the arrows are to show the most recent change of that particular part of the computer.the restore button is to RESTORE WHAT YOU WANT!that is time point of it not to make it go back to the desktop so you have to restart time machine.the graphics suck in the beginning of booting up time machine bc there is something wrong inside of your time machinejust letting you know that time machine is good the way it is but i agree with the other issues
in snow leopard, as im sure you now know, in grid view in snow leopard, u can open folders within the grid view, so you dont need a finder window. which is so annoying.
so weird, how your time machine lags, ive never had that, but then again, ive never had that. also it brings you to the desktop and ends time machine, because it only used to bring a file forward then thats it. but wat would be nice, is if u can select more then one file then click restore.
in snow leopard, you can set programs to come in ALL SPACES. but also, i NEVER set safari to a space, i leave it free, so it comes in all spaces. but like i said, the new feature in snow leopard should help you out
according to rumors flying around about snow leopard, that stacks improvement is supposed to be coming. That's going to be very handy to be able to browse through folders right there in the dock.
You dont have to assign apps to a space. you can just move things if you want to remove clutter. oh and btw your computer is the problem for time machine going slow. oh and btw your mac is gross. your dock, desktop, dumb HDD icon, and your finder is sooo dumb looking. you are truly and apple slob
yeah, some interesting pts, but many are fixable. you may have some background program management prblems for your time machine to be running so slow. 2g RAM is heaps to run time machine smoothly even with other pgms. anyway, anyone has any q's about fixing these things mentioned in the video either pm me or reply to the comment.... gr8 video though.
you can change it so that doesn't happen. Click spaces in system preferences and than click the application and click the minus sign. Works like a charm. Another option is just don's use spaces.
Sorry. After one hour, less than 45 seconds of this video is loaded. What's with this thing? Usually I can see a ten minute video after only a couple of minutes loading but this one has some problem.
which mac do you havE? if u have the unibody one then it's normal, it happens to me, it's just because this type of laptop doesn't contain some of the chemicals found in others, so it functions differently from the system part
Its cool that you can show ur face now but dont do so many effects in screenflow its kidna annoying just keep it small in the corner instead of making me dizzy.
apple should seriously pay you to critique their gui. There are too many apple zombies who are just ads for apple. My own peeves with the mac os: When i minimize something why doesn't the #$@! finder come up at the top? It minimizes only the window but the top bar remains focused on the app i just minimized! Why can't programs automatically or even ask you if you want to create an icon on the dock? Also there's no "Show Desktop" shortcut in the OS. They removed "Use for ALL" on the proxy.
to show desktop on the old keyboards it's F11 and i agree with the minimize thing but to me that's not a big deal. Everyone has different pet peeves with mac os x
i love spaces, i just don't set it, i just move it on my own. However, I do agree with you on the improvements it could use. I have never had a problem with anything in time machine/time capsule, mine is very "flowy". However, I do agree with you on stacks. Leopard is fantastic, way better than Vista, ANY DAY!
Spaces for me works the way it is. I agree with you and stacks; I also wish the grid could open in different proportions with the icon and folders at customizable sizes.
is that when you expand your stacks and you want to open a file inside a folder inside the stacks ...you have to open the finder's window to get to it ...
MEANING... i can't browse my files through stacks.... :(
yeah time machine is slow because your external hd is running off of usb which doesent allow the fastest file transfer/access. I have the same problem with final cut pro rendering onto my external
I agree with appletechshow. Why don't you test Windows 7 and share your opinions and talk about it as well? I think it would be really interesting to have opinions of a MacUser about it.
Better problems to worry about might include: 1. Typical overheating and hard lockups on units with dedicated video. 2. Wonky mouse curve that is very much opposite of the myth that Macs are somehow more ergonomic. 3. Extremely poor performance in even the most menial programs despite reasonably specced dual core CPUs. 4. Very high prices.
I like OSX as much as the next guy, but it has a ways to go.
I would take a guess that the reason for your Time machine lagginess is the 5400rpm hard drive in your Macbook. If you have a 7200rpm or SSD it wouldn't be as choppy. Also, if your external drive is in standby mode it has to spin up which may be adding to this.

Stacks is not very unique whatsoever.
Before stacks, we had menus and they were much more useful.
I have never used Time Machine, instead, I backup my files manually so I know exactly where they are.
I love Spaces and use it all the time.
It is so convenient to have Safari open up in Space 3 while Mail opens in Space 1.
Very good video and I would love to have a background image in each space.
BTW, you can apply a background image to each monitor connected to your Mac.
