We need to get Steve back in the States on a big tour. With Phil out of commission due to his hand and back problems, Peter's tour schedule, and all we will likely never get to see them all together. I have been trying to convince the Utah Symphony to bring him here to perform a Midsummer Night's Dream, though some of the woodwind players may not be up to snuff.
this is the direction steve wanted to take genesis back in 75, if you know the album, the only thing missing is tony banks, phil and mike play with steve on the whole lp.
didn't become a hackett fan till about 10 years ago. before then the only hackett tune I really liked was Genesis Unquiet Slumber For The Sleepers, which I can't find live anywhere..
None of progressive guitar player is the best ten , none of classic guitar player or jazz guitar player is the best , that title is just for hard rock and heavy metal guitar player
According to rolling stone magazine, hackett is NOT one of the 100's best guitar players ever. In stead of, I think is one of the 10's guitarists best ever, don't you think so?
@lux1117 ignore those magazine polls they put the likes of noel gallagher in the same league as the likes of gilmour and clapton which says it all ..steve hackett along with the likes of andrew latimer will never get recognition until their dead which is a shame
@centralscrutinizer9 amen, but what a shame though. Hackett's music was too good to be understood by the mass market. Those who who truly enjoy music are lucky & blessed to have such good ears
Steve is great on this, but I miss Phil on drums, his drumming really made this song. It would be good to see Phil and Mike guest star at one of Steve's concerts for this track.
i been thinking about all hackett records and (well this is just my opinion) i think tha comparing with the Frank Zappa works hackett has been so ignored like a Progressive musician because he alwas has been so imaginative strange crazy elegant and insane iagination just like Frank works and i think that they are in the same league
@Satiaraha It takes a smart listener ! I do see what youare saying. The amount of CREATIVITY IS INSANE! The casual pop fan would say " What happened to SH?" Truth of the matter is he has released album after album and does immense touring. Hackett was quoted as saying" You can have financial security but Spiritual impoverishment" Rewards are not always measured in dollars ( though it is nice). Thanks to YOUTUBE for keeping this music available.
wow man.. i totally agree. i just came off of a two year zappa binge only to listen nonstop to the first 5 solo hackett albums.. i thought the exact same thing the other day. for me these two guitarists represent everything i could ever hope to achieve with guitar playing.

Faultless performace by a genius!
Marvellous change from 3.25, and reminds me of Barbara Thompson's Paraphernalia's hey day too...
Love this track - and only just heard it after all these years...!
He really is far too unsung is Steve Hackett.

Hackett is so underated. Such an amazing player I love the soprano sax on this. It adds a jazzy flavor to a prog rock classic
