@EdwardRommel $135 million from Truman in surplus aid (including tanks, planes, etc.). Congressional votes in favor of aid to Israel in 1951. From 1959 to 1985, the US provides loans and military surplus to Israel. Israel begins to fully purchase arms from the US in 1962. The 1973 Yom Kippur War sees more grants still.
Fun fact of the day for you: Israel has received more direct aid from the United States since World War II than any other country. Period.
Israel continues to defy International Law. Mmmmm! Let the USA admit to the world that International Law is actually null and void and any country can oppress and abuse as it sees fit and that they have absolutely no control over Israel whatsoever. That is a fact not a fallacy.
"Israel is making sure that our children will go, dig tunnels, enter Israel, and blow themselves up. This is what Israel is doing...."One thing lacking here is personal responsibility. Isn't it nice to blame Israel for everything, including parenting? That statement also proves Israel's justification for security. How many more bombs would be going off in Israel were they to remove security fences and checkpoints? It's too bad that it has to be like that, but that's the way it is.
@lordofyourmind If you want to understand WHY you need to analyze. Analyze the source of the problem. Why do this people sacrify their life ? If the reason why Israel has been taking these measures for 50 years is the concern for the life of its own citizens, Israel needed to analyze the source of the problem (they have never done it). Anyone knows that the reason why these people blow themselves is DESPERATION, LACK OF HOPE, NO FUTURE. Give anybody these things and there will be no more war
This conflict will never end because USA and Britain fuel the conflict. Israel is doing the dirty job for these superpowers. The 6 days war was just a fueled war by Britain and France to reconquest the Suez canal from Egypt. Israel benefited some more land and Brits and French started sharing a 100 Million $ revenue from this port as well as establishing their power in middle east. This are the facts that Israelis should understand and rise their voice for justice peace and prosperity in the M/E
you are mistaken...the US under Eisenhower refused to support the british/french/Israeli attempt to take the Suez canal from Egypt in 1956.
The US supported Kosovo against the Serbians.
The US Govt. has discouraged the Westbank settlements since 1967 but since Israel got most of its military hardware from France and Czechoslovakia...and most of its financial aid from Germany in the form of holocaust reparations...the US Govt. had little influence with the Israeli Govt.
@EdwardRommel The United States has "discouraged" Israel, yes. But every single time the UN puts up a resolution for intervention of illegal Israeli settlements, the United States blocks it. Every time, without fail. Also, the majority of the Israeli military & aid was provided by the US, ever since WWII. I don't know where you got your silly assumptions from, but they're abysmally wrong, Mr. so-called "Truth Seeker".
@Fluffypear ...read the wikipedia article on "Israel"...Israel could not buy weapons from the USA in 1940's or 1950's...so they bought them from France and Chezchoslovakia. They got most of their financial aid in German holocaust reparations.
The US has blocked UN resolutions against Israel but don't forget that the Israelis did accept the UN Partition Plan in 1948...but the Arabs rejected it.
The Arabs have created this situation by attacking Israel 3 times in 48, 67 and 73...fools!
@EdwardRommel Wikipedia? Good god, the world is going to hell! Don't even start with Wikipedia. I have hundreds of academic journal articles, books and lecture notes written by Israeli and Palestinian scholars that will shame that Wikipedia article straight back to the lying, misinformed layman's cesspool that it belongs in.
I guess you haven't read much of that Partition Plan and its "holier than thou" snot flung at the Arabs. Or the British Mandate. Or anything in that damn year.
The settlements in Israel seems to parallel the settlement of the American west.
In the US Once proud Indian tribes were forced onto small reservations where they were dependent on the government for their subsistence. Meanwhile white settlers carved up the land for themselves.
Under the banner of manifest destiny the Indians lost everything.
That's a very accurate assessment, Ham. The more I go into the history of the natives, the more I understand Israel was constructed on the American model.
Why do the Native Americans even today still prefer to live on the reservations?..do you really think the US Govt. forces them to live on those reservations?
They live on those reservations because they have autonomy...they are like their own country...with their own legal system...the US Govt. has no jurisdiction on any of the reservations....See the Val Kilmer movie about the reservation.

I can see that happening to the Palestinians.

Actually indians were free to live in the non-indian areas...they chose not to.
Why do you think there were some indians living amoungst whites...some wanted to live with whites...but most did not.

@EdwardRommel I guess it makes you feel better to believe that nonsense. We all know they were forced off their lands...
