  • Is it just me or is Timothy Dalton too sexy for words?

  • @ryesasweetpea Rest assured, it's not just you! ;P Be careful . . . if you keep watching you might come down with a full-blown case of Daltonitis.

  • @pacemoy I've had it for well over a year. I'm not sure what it is about him, Whether it be his Beautiful Green eyes or his accent or the way he gets so into character but i just love it. I'm not a fan of Romance movies and such but anything with Timothy Dalton and i'm hooked.

  • @ryesasweetpea Hooked on Timothy is a wonderful place to be :D

  • @pacemoy So true, So true :)

  • @ryesasweetpea You are not alone by no means. I'm not too fond of romance novels myself, but Jane Eyre is very special and Tim only makes it better. You don't see actors and men in general like him these days. That voice, his mannerism, and he seems such a gentleman.

  • @RetroJenny Neither am i. I also don't really care for British accents but i LOVE his. I knew a man kinda like him once but i was very young and it's been ages since i've seen him. My Dad always gets us (My Brother and I) Valentine's Day presents and he bought me this because i love it so much :)

  • @ryesasweetpea Not at all. We are all besotted by this man, his voice, his eyes. sigh

  • "Am I a liar in your eyes?" Damn straight!

  • We studied this book at school....well I never read the book...I just watched this and got a B in my English Lit GCSE.... ;-)

  • @iamwhoiamwhoiammark2 LOL -- Good for you! You picked the right film version of the book to watch ;-) Did you like it?

  • @pacemoy Yes actually I did, nice to see it again (it's been a few years herm since I left school)

  • @iamwhoiamwhoiammark2 Nevertheless, perhaps you should read the book. It`s a great book.

  • Thank you so much for uploading all these pacemoy! I absolutely love Jane Eyre. It's my favorite book, and this version is my favorite! Zelah I think is a very, very good Jane. Timothy Dalton is the perfect Mr Rochester! He's such a good actor and he is just the way I imagined Mr Rochester. Did you see the new Jane Eyre, with Mia Wasikowska? I went and saw it...I didn't like it very much...They changed a lot, and I didn't like Mia's portrayal of Jane. This version(1983) will always be my fav. :)

  • @xForeverxEnchantedx Same for me. I haven't seen the new version yet cause it's not playing anywhere near me, but without Timothy, it wouldn't be the same anyway. He's spoiled all the other versions for me -- LOL I did see one review for the new movie by some guy here on the web that said what the new version lacked was a Timothy Dalton, so we aren't the only ones who think he's the best Rochester ever.

  • @pacemoy I agree more than anything that Dalton IS the only Rochester I'll ever see :D

  • I thought Zelah Clarke rather remarkable. I don't think people quite understand how difficult it is to fully embody a character in the way that she does. This is real acting, not showy pony stuff. She is subtle yet her eyes convey so much, as does her voice - she's great. Timothy Dalton is brilliant.

  • @MsBlueonblack I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion of both actors. Aren't they great together? What a joy this version of Jane Eyre is!

  • @MsBlueonblack Zelah is my favorite Jane. I like that she doesn't over act. You can see the hard life that she has endured in her face, and you can see her emotions through her facial expressions. I didn't see that in other Janes.

  • See when they say that people weren't handsome i always think that its just the trends of the time period. Remember Fair (blonde and pale) were considered handsome.. thus why Georgiana is "handsome" while Eliza was not. Also they refer to St. John as handsome and yet again he is blonde. Timothy Dalton is exactly what I pictured Mr. Rochester to look like.

  • I love Timothy Dalton as Rochester, but I don't believe he was meant to be that good looking in the book...

  • @MsBunty333 In the book, Rochester wasn't as good looking as he was charismatic. Timothy is like that, too. He looks different in every camera angle (depending a lot on the lighting) but I think he is mesmerizing all the time.

  • Yes Timothy Dalton was terrific as Rochester ,and it's indeed the most complete version made about the wonderful book of Charlotte Bronté , but about Zelah Clarke , i'm not so convinced that she WAS Jane Eyre , she didn't gave me the impression to be passionate , in the version from 2006 Ruth Wilson , gave me that impression ,but anyway , i really enjoy this version , mostly thanks to Dalton's , Dark and tormented , portrayal of Rochester .

  • @kr241168 I think Zelah is an aquired taste, very subtle in her facial and body movements at the most emotional times, reigning Jane in with caution and fear. She is tiny next to Mr Rochester, a true mustard seed, just as I always pictured Jane and brings a sweetness to the role that I've yet to find in other actresses. That's why she is Jane to me, but I know she doesn't strike everybody else the same way. At this point, Ruth is my second favorite Jane; wonder what the new Jane will be like?
