  • It's amazing how you can just fit them together. Thanks man. A great vid.

  • why does it matter which way you pick?

  • @TheChelseaFilms It's just easier that way. up up down down down means you're not constantly moving your hand, thus increasing efficiency of movement and energy and time.

  • my first metal arpeggio . i learnd it in 3 minutes!!!

  • USE YOUR PINKY! :D

  • wth ._.

  • I thought this sounded a little Maiden-ish, then I saw the stickers...

  • Tabs plzz

  • Best Guitar Lesson (:

  • ehh

  • @jackMcK123 just try to practice muting it after u play the note with the tip of the finger on the 4th string ;)

  • use your pinky!

  • When letting go of the 3rd string whilst playing faster it leaves an open note. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Sounded like Michael Angelo Batio's Arpeggios

  • Thanks dude!!!! You just helped me do my first sweep!! Ive only been playing for about 10 months now and I thought sweeps were gonna be terrible. Played it for about 20 minutes and wow Im not that bad. Thanks again

  • เล่นได้แค่เนี้ย ยังติดอยู่เลยจะมาสอนใครเขาเนี่ย เสียงกวนบานเลย สาดดดดดดด

  • Finaly!!! Thank you for mading this vide! you have been to MUCH!!! help!:)

  • Is this not just a Dm shape with a pull off, using the pinky? Much easier, and as someone esle mention,, there is no noise from fingers moving off strings. Is there any reaason i should not learn it that way?

  • This was really helpful :)

  • up up... down down down

  • thanks for the great info man, you rock

  • Hey man, this is a very cool lesson! ive just created some beginner courses that you might want to check out on my channel. Its the Hub of a new website >> RexPearson. com << would love for you to check it out and let me know what you think

    Rex

  • when i play this i use my pinky, its just easier and I feel guilty having the little guy just hanging there

  • hey can some of you help me? well when im doing those arpegios or any other when i take my finger from the g string i make an unintend pull of and it doesn't happen on the other strings. any advice? is it normal? or its just a lack of practice and it goes it in time or should i palm mute the string?... any advice?

  • @MrSuicideMan i aplm mute the string and it sounds pretty good

  • 0:36 down, left, rigth, left, right, B, A, START! :P

  • @OilyTower you for got select gosh learn your contra codes

  • @Tomsavini666 look pal, i think you need to refresh your memory a little, go and check up the code on google and then see whos right ;)

    Or test it on contra/gradíus

  • @OilyTower A, down, up, A, down, up

  • What pick up is he using?

  • LOL.

    "Metal Arpeggios!"

    dududududududududududududu

  • I on the other hand really liked this video, because I really needed something new to begin with , and wanted to start the arpegios , and this arpegio I really like for beginners.

  • I really don't know how I do that right now o.O

  • You sucks xd

  • sloppy as fuck...

  • I HAVE SO GOD DAMN FAT FINGERS SO I CANT DO SHIT WITH ARPEGGIOS!!!! :DD

  • just like the last fight solo

  • In other words guitar wanking

  • Fret of the G-String lol

  • learn to use the little finger men!

  • The first arpeggio is metallica's leper messiah solo =D

  • @Nekuriddo the first arpeggio is in fucking everything.....

  • @Nekuriddo its also part of the fast part in the Fade to black solo

  • @Nekuriddo i knew it! lol

  • @Nekuriddo its no one's arpeggios

  • @Nekuriddo Its also the prime tune to the after solo in Iron Maidens Phantom Of The Opera.

  • good vid man

  • wow, this guy owns

  • heh, 666,000+ views. mheheheheheh good video.

  • that's sweep picking xD

  • Zakk Wylde sucks!

  • amazing lesson dude (Y)

  • Yeah it's actually not even close to the Duncan hills coffee solo. Go watch that vid then watch this one again. Know what you're talking about if you want to talk shit. Fucking idiot.

  • 0:11

'Ohww gowgona how to do that right now!! '

    lol

  • way to rip off the duncan hills coffee solo, skwizzgarr is a better teacher anyway.

  • @guitaraddict4life -_- you realize Dethklok didn't invent arpegios in metal right? They just take every cliche, and common thing in every metal genre, and throw it all together.

  • @GreatBigSlide um duh, i was just saying that the lesson is pretty much the exact same lesson but without out tabs and a cool swedish accent. and its spelled arpeggio with two g's. -_-

(yeah i'm gonna be a dick and call you out on your diminished ability to spell)

  • Awsome dude!!

    Learned it!!

Made it alot easier, thx man great vid.. Rock on \m/

  • it drives me crazy how they always show the left hand when it's all in the right. how do you go from the up to the down is what i wanna know. like, it can't be just a sweep, you have to lift the pick up over a string to go from the up to down. it seems up, up, up, down, down would be easier.

  • @squeakyfromme69 think of it like a strum not individual picking, and dont forget your hammer ons and pull offs

  • ahhhhh is that your neck pickup? o_O

  • Thanx man good lesson!

  • what guitar is that ?

  • its easier with your pinky btw

  • @McFro95 Yep, ur right...the pinky is heaps better especially for a females hand... thanks 4 that tip... :0)

  • @McFro95 Just wondering, is that the proper technique though? (To use your pinky)?

  • @DavinaFaerie if your hands are big enough you can use either your ring or pinky finger

really, pick a style that suits YOUR playing and go with that.

just because it says your 3rd possiton neesa be your index finger doesn't mean you can't ot ue your middle if if works berst for yyou

    fuck ay metalzs

  • @masterthehate2 Actually, my hands aren't big enough (I'm a female) & I find that this means I should use my pinky instead so I can stretch my hands out...

Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it... :0)

  • @DavinaFaerie oooooh!! in a rare state of sobriety I can see what's wrong with his picking style!!

He's supposed to be sweeping, not actually picking, keeping the pick level against the strings and sweeping it across like a broom in a fluid motion.

    !!!!!!!!! SOBRIETY

    FUCK YA

  • @masterthehate2 Oh, is sweeping easier, or just the proper way of doing it?

Can I try that with his techniques? & do you sweep up or down?

    thanks 4 the tip... :0)

    "Sobriety fuck ya",lol...

  • @DavinaFaerie Well his technique is the opposite of sweeping... or... well.. it's not really "sweeping" the arpeggio. He's picking in a sweeping fashion but it's still picking.

A sweep is isn't easier, but it isn't harder, it just takes better coordination between your right and left hand.

Sweep picking is just fluid picking without hitting each individual string. There are videos that teach proper sweeping technique.

  • @masterthehate2 O.k, so which one is better to learn for a beginner & for metal only? Sweeping or picking? & how do I learn that?

  • @DavinaFaerie see, Gitbad's issue is that his wrist is ridged. Where proper sweeping technique uses more of a loose wrist and that's where the motion comes from where as Gitbad was using his elbow for the motion... it's really all about what allows you to do the most with the least amount of effort. You can't play as fast, as cleanly, when you're using a more rigid picking technique since most of the effort is in the picking as it is, and not building up the speed to make the arpeggio fluid.

  • @masterthehate2 Oh right... Makes sense. Whatever works faster, esp 4metal... I suppose with enough practice anything can work but it's better2 do whatever takes less practice or effort.

So can you tell me where I can find more vids on metal that is the best, most easy way of doing arpeggios & everything else a beginner needs2 know?

I really appreciate everything gitbad teaches & will keep learning from his stuff,it would be good to know if there is something easier out there 2.Thanks heaps M

  • @DavinaFaerie type "beginner sweep picking" into the search bar. I'd suggest learning 7th arpeggios because guitar (or any instrument) is only as hard as you make it.

Playing the arpeggio as slow as you need to to get it right also helps building your finger dexterity

Google some tabs for arpeggio's and phrases too,

  • @masterthehate2 Awesome, I'll do that. Thanks so much for your advice & tips, you've been really helpful & I really appreciate it.

Sorry about our rocky start, you're really cool & you've been a great help.

If you have any more tips for a beginner let me know (if you can spare the time)... :0)

    Thanks again, Davina... :0)

  • @DavinaFaerie I have nothing but time when I'm not drinking (which is ALWAYS!!!)

But seriously, tips? pretty much learn everything you can about guitar theory because with theory you can do pretty much anything.

Easy stuff would be maybe watch Paul Gilbert's lesson on arpeggio's and using octaves to scale the fret board. Like he says (and I agree) it really opens up the whole world of arpeggios because you can experiment with it; and really, experimentation is what it's all about.

  • Thanks so much for the tip btw, I really appreciate it.

& once again I'm sorry for before...

  • @ gitbad , i and alot of others appreciate your lessons , dont worry about wankers like masterthehate , if he knew anything maybe hed try and show people on here hes stuff ..real musos dont mind showing people things and helping them learn fwits like masterthehate is just another trollin wannabe ,,hes jealous f him !!

  • that guitar squeals like a BITCH!!!

  • why isn't my guitar as good as his ? i mean its neck is so fucked up, it's utterly unclean compared to his... and i keep cleaning it for fucking hours but no good

  • You can play them easilier, if you use your four fingers.

  • do u have to pick it up,up,down, down, down or can it be all down picks

  • Thanks for this video! First metal/arpeggio that I've learned. Hope to improve quickly so I can play it like you do :D

  • the riff at 1:00 minutes is used by unearth, on the stings of conscience cd, during the ending of the song "one step away".

  • *gasp* are you sweeping on the bridge pickup?!?!? D:

  • Awesome tutorial! :D

I have learned it when the first time i watched this vid! ;D

    Thx man! :D

  • Thanks so much. I feel like a pro

  • man I must say, i've been stuck with the same blues scale for years now, i've been trying to learn new things and this really helped, you teach it so simpl within 5 minutes I could do those scales with my eyes closed! Thanks mate (:

  • tnx man this helped me a lot ....

  • hey man this is really cool ty for vid

  • These normal major and minor arpeggios are so worn-out and oversupplied. I would'nt want to exercise them nor would I want to integrate them in my play.

  • Shit! What kind of amp do you got, NIGGRO?!

  • Great lesson man! I see in a lot of your videos you're getting bashed for your picking technique. Ignore them whatever works.....works haha as long as you play good (Which you do!) I don't see what the problem is.

  • thats not an e minor arpeggio..

  • hey guys, im playing a lot of metalstuff since i found COB and i had to learn how to play some arpeggios and its working pretty good by now and heres the question:

how do i know what arpeggios i can play over a certain key?? you dont always stay perfectly in the scale, do u? Thanks!!

  • OH FUCK, I look for more arpeggios to learn and the 9th video I look is THIS wanker again.

  • @masterthehate2 THIS WANKER!!!! I'm highly offended.......ok maybe not! This vid is 3 years old I'm going to make some new and better arpeggio vids soon, want anything specific?

  • @gitbad I said wanker because I didn't want to be offensive haha.... I've actually used all of your videos in the past to expand my playing.

If you're offering <_< 5 string arpeggio progressions and string skipping arpeggios

maybe if you could cover Am, E, F E to Am from "Neoclassical Arpeggios etude in Am" that'd be pretty cool too.

  • @gitbad lol about the wanker thing.. nah, i'd like it if you did one with like, minor 7, 9, or like add11 arpeggios, augmented, just the weirder ones that are harder to sweep just because of their location on the fretboard. yeah man.

  • @gitbad don't mind him man.....Your lesson is cool.... this is great man.....

it's like calling a horde of demons from the pit of hell ahahahhah

anyways just keep doing some great lesson so that I could learn many cool thingss

  • @gitbad could you see if its possible to show tav at the bottom of the screen , im hard of hearing and it would be much appreciated (also you have insane sweep picking technique!)

  • @gitbad its very decent reply of yours thou

    =) respect that

  • @masterthehate2 Ur an idiot! This guy has taught me so much so far & this is only the 2nd vid I've seen. I'm so appreciative that he is so cool to put his vids up & give us this opportunity.

    Don't be such a wanker!lol....

  • @DavinaFaerie Sorry if I've offended your tender sensibilities I'm just looking for more advanced techniques and this is very basic.

  • @masterthehate2 Wtf? Tender sensibilities? Don't be an idiot!lol...

I just think that if your looking for more "advanced" stuff why are you looking at a video for beginners? It says "beginners" above... Perfect for me, obviously not 4 u...So why are you here being so rude & disrespectful to someone teaching those of us who are at the very beginning stages of practice?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but i think you weren't being very fair-or nice for that matter...

    Have a good 1.

  • @DavinaFaerie it does?! I'm pretty much wasted 20/4-87 so what the fuck...

I wasn't being faire? what the fuck does that supposed to mean faggot!!!?!?

  • @masterthehate2 Yeah, you did sound really rude...

I'm sorry tho, my message wasn't any better at all,lol...

I understand the being wasted 24/7 thing,lol...(maybe not so much these days but yeah, I totally understand it,lol)..

I just think the swearing etc is a bit unfair...

& about me being a faggot, that sort of doesn't make any sense being a female,lol...But then I like guys so, err nah that doesn't work still,lol...

But yeah, I'm sorry for being so rude myself in the last message. :0)

  • @DavinaFaerie I looked everywhera and I can't find beinginser anywhere

are you soure you saw what you say uyou did? fuck niggah you sume sorttya syupdi.

  • @masterthehate2 I thought he was decent

  • My hands a synchronized.. but i keep hearing the open strings vibrating >_<

And my speed is fine but if those open strings are making noise it cancels out the sound of the rest...

    Any advice anyone?

  • you should show A shape arpeggios as well. and not just the top 3 strings!!! maybe some diminished???

  • Nice and remember folks to push with the pick not pluck

  • This is how I first learned how to sweep. Good lesson.

  • sounds great...like something off the preview of brutal legend...but do you have any tips when doin arppegios..im a very angus young blues 12 bar pentatonic player lol...im so not used to this...i can rip some of the fastest blues licks youll ever see..but its like my hand wont do arpegios..it starts to feel wierd...

  • Is it just me or does his guitar sound REALLY good...

  • thanks.its realy helpful!!!!

  • you are the best at teaching in this youtube world, I am sure there are lots of people that may be better....but it's much easier to learn from you...some teachers are just trying to show off, they don't really want to teach..they hide everything and make it complicated, and their hands are very vague.....I rate you 10 out of 10

  • when he says "e minor arpeggio" does that mean the root note is an e minor or its built of an e minor chord

  • @paranoidandroid695 An arpeggio is just playing the notes of a chord individually. For an E minor arpeggio, the root note is an E, the minor 3rd is a G and the 5th is a B. But don't worry too much about the notes, just remember the shapes that these major and minor arpeggios make on the fretboard, then learn the notes after!

  • @gitbad ok but also i dont get what you mean by "minor 3rd" and "minor 5th". i just bought fretboard logic though maybe that will help

  • @gitbad

That's horrible advice!!! If anything s/he should be learning the theory before anything because once you know your 1st, 3rd and 5th the sky is pretty much the limit with the kind of progressions you can apply.

  • a question

for this exercise I prefer to use the 4 fingers you use 3. Am i doing it wrong or can I cointinue practising with 4 fingers¿

  • @skerpunky you should use 4 fingers man its much easier and you will need that pinky for other sweeps so you need to practice with it

  • the E arpeggio is the start of the solo for leper messiah

  • You can also sweep this one.

  • not trying to criticize you but wouldnt it be more practical to use ur pinky?

  • Your picking technique is very flawed. I don't mind your playing being flawed but it is very wrong to teach other people the wrong thing also. >=(

  • @TheJohnPetras whats so flawed buddy my technique works great!!

  • @gitbad lol he's just some idiot who thinks he knows what he's talking about...

  • @gitbad He's jelous :P he doesn't know what he means actually

  • ahahaha

    owwned dude u rock

  • @gitbad I believe he's refering to your shitty sweepts bro

though in the drunk state I'm in right now sweeping would be hard for me kinda... actually no... probably not... I've never played a gig sober in my life...

sweep up up up, down down... that's probalby whatins I'm assumign.

  • @TheJohnPetras no it isnt dumb ass thats how ur ment to do it

  • would you teach us plez?????????

  • @TheJohnPetras Hey, faggot, it's called rake picking, learn to play guitar

  • @TheJohnPetras You never answered why it's so flawed, I'd like to know if you have real reason. Yet I doubt it because, firstly you didn't answer why it was so flawed,

2ndly it is working great for me...

    Sorry...

  • you suck!!!! amateur

  • great lesson, i like how the camera stayed zoomed in on the hand, some videos just stay zoomed out as far as possible lol

  • Good video thanks dude got some new stuff to play with :)

  • can someone tell me what is arpeggios

  • @captainhiroshi its seperating the most important notes from the scale (chord tones) from the unimportant scale tones and only using those important notes to play up and down

say we have a dorian scale (1,2,b3,4,5,6,b7) the most important notes are the 1,b3,5,b7 and if we only play those 4 notes then we have an arpeggio

  • @blah148 Isn't that a third?

  • @RyanofLoxleyAC130 1, b3, 5, b7? yea those are thirds..

  • @blah148 Why not just say that? I don't believe you should ALWAYS sweep in thirds, but you should definitely focus on it and then throw in whatever the hell you want.

  • what exactly is an arpeggio?

  • e minor apreggio is the only sweeps i know but i do them amazingly 5 string

  • I learnt this a feew months ago from this clip.. Thanks :D My video response is below ;) although I played it a bit differently and not as good as you.. meh i'd only learnt it a short while earlier - excuse. Thanks man :D

  • you can learn it quickly

  • nice guitar!! \m/

  • how come your picking isnt in a 'sweeping' motion? lol but thats fast up and down picking you are doing...

  • Awesome!!!!!!

  • is this arpegio easy to perform????

  • Lol that very first bit was from the leper mesiah solo ;)

  • I just realised how shit i am :D

  • @wasifmatt yea i know, it's a bad feeling, lol

  • great fingerpractice yeah good video

  • 0:23 sound s like when you walk into a 97+ cents store.

  • @Charbok12 haha i cracked up when i read that comment

  • @bulleta7xpwd cool someone got it hehe

  • @Charbok12 hahaha

  • i keep wanting to hammer on up to the next string

  • great lesson !:)
