  • Talk about timing, that's the perfect word for her, cause judging by this video, she is Cuckoo, and I bet she goes "Kukla" for Cocoa Puffs.

  • Cuckoo Contestan! I make mistakes too!

  • Cuckoo Contesant

  • HA HA HA THE WORST ANSWER EVER!! LOL!

  • It's not Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie. It's Kukla, Sam and Irving! :)

  • What kind of a person is Ginger? Cuckoo Friend of Ollie!

  • This is the same lady that answerred that the athelete catapiller bought 100 pairs of tennis shoes and a "accordion". How the hell did she ever win the game?

  • @guilttascharged She won the game because she got one of those ridiculously easy questions about chest size in which "Twiggy" was the only obvious answer matching the entire panel.

  • I miss richard

  • To quote Jeff Foxworthy, "This woman's out there driving tonight, that scares the hell out of me

  • I guess Gene has forgotten it now.

  • Dumb "____"

  • That 'squeak' before Bill Daily laughs makes this clip even funnier!

  • I wish they had the "Jock Cousteau" episode of Match Game where Edie McClurg cackled her ass off.

  • It would be great for Gene to host Jeopardy!

  • @head909 R.i.p. Gene Rayburm. he died in 1999 :-(

  • how can you do that, come and shes a blonde too

  • Well, she might as well be a Cuckoo Friend of Ollie!

  • @AEMoreira81 lol, good one

  • LMMFAO!!!

  • LMAO, how do you confuse Kuckla with Cuckoo!

And Bill Daily cracking up had me in tears also!

    lol!

  • fail....

  • @ManaKnightCloud an Epic one to be exact.

  • This woman is a moron...a funny moron, but a moron nonetheless!

  • epic!

  • I think Robert misspelled his joke answer on his card.

  • Was that guy on anything other than "Lou Grant"? I can't remember seeing him in anything else after that.

  • @FlamingoKicker He played Shelly Winters son inBloody Mama with a then unknown Robert Deniro'

  • @FlamingoKicker I remember him as Donald Segretti in the 1976 movie All The President's Men. Other than that, Lou Grant and MG appearances, I can't think of any other place I've seen him.

  • @FlamingoKicker Walden was also on the ground-breaking Showtime-exclusive sitcom "Brothers" (1984-1989).

  • How did she even get to the Star Wheel to begin with? Her opponent must have been REALLY bad!

  • Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie. Well, at least she got ONE name right! lol

  • She didn't even get the "Fran" part right. She said Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie. LOL that makes it even worse but funnier.

  • Wow, and I thought "Pin Needle" was stupid. That beats all!

  • I love the fact that Gene decides to spin the wheel hysterically laughing. Oh that's too funny.

  • I think they cracked up like that because she had made a similar mistake earlier in the same game lol. This one was just the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak.

  • what was her other mistake

  • @DEATHEXISTFOREVER

On an earlier game, Gene gave Ginger a fill-in-the blank that said "The salesman said, 'That caterpillar must be an athlete. He bought a hundred sneakers of shoes and a ______." Ginger said "accordion".

  • That's what kept 'Jaywalking' on The Tonight Show for a long time.

  • Same thing for the American version of "Whose Line..." Can you imagine the chaos that would've erupted among Ryan, Drew, et al. if COLIN MOCHRIE had uttered that reply?

  • It would be funnier in person than watching it on youtube.

  • It probably would be, if we could get some 1970s clothes, and time travel to 1975

  • This is so famous now someone should find Ginger.

  • I watched this episode when it first aired 30 years ago. I've been looking for this clip. I laughed until I cried.

  • Poor Robert Walden. At least he got back at Ginger with 'accordion'.

  • An answer like that would've driven me BAT SHIT CRAZY!

  • i quit! lol!.

  • I dont get this. Cuckoo friend and ollie? What does that mean, someone please explainzzz?

  • It doesn't mean anything. It's a funny goof-up of the early children's show 'Kukla, Fran, & Ollie'. Ginger somehow, in some bizarre alternate universe of her mind, confused 'cuckoo' with 'Kukla' and thought that 'cuckoo' was the name of the puppet. She either goofed up Fran's name with 'friend' or she actually thought 'friend' was the name of one of the characters on 'Kukla, Fran & Ollie'.

  • It's a whole lot funnier to those of us who remember Kukla, Fran, & Ollie.

  • "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!" LMAO! XD

  • I have never laughed so hard! I love this show!

  • Everything about this clip is absolute comedy gold! From the answer, to Bill and Gene's reaction, to Robert's question to possibly come back if he got it back, to his joke answer (and Elaine's telling him the audience was different, so they wouldn't get it)! Pure comedy gold!

  • The dumbest answer in the history of game shows.

  • lmao bill daily's reaction is priceless.

  • I Quit lol

  • i saw this two days ago and its super funny and bill was killing himself laughing

i think bill hit his mic when he was laughing ..i heard a thud

  • i think bill pissed himself

  • I heard Bill Daily on a radio talk show discussing this about ten years ago, and he said he found it so funny because he used to direct the Kukla Fran and Ollie show back in the 50's. He said this was his favorite moment from the various game shows he appeared on.

  • No wonder he looked like he was about to bust all his ribs laughing! :)

  • One stupid girl. LOL!

  • RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!

  • i never got that

  • I think what she said was a title of a TV show

  • why did gene say that

  • When he said that, he was pounding on the bonus game wall, which there was a prop man inside.

I'm assuming that was Gene's way of warning the guy inside to get away while he could.

  • Robert Walden's query at 1:38 equally cracked me up!

  • I'll never forget that as long as I live

  • I remember watching this when it first aired. I thought she had the answer sewn up. I guess nerves just hit her big time.

  • The audio is much faster than usual in this clip. Am I to assume that that's because GSN has always used the tradition of speeding episodes up to fit the schedule, and make room for commercials?

  • Bill and Gene's reactions are priceless!

  • maybe its because im not old enough, but im not getting the joke. could someone explain?

  • Look at some of the earlier comments and you'll see that she was confusing "Cuckoo" to "Kukla" of an old TV program called "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie."

We'll have to post one of the episodes where Kukla and Ollie appeared on this show when the time comes.

  • I knew Fran Allison from Kukla Fran & Ollie, she would have loved it!

  • Brett: I QUIT!!!

LOL, I love Brett, she was always my favorite.

  • "Where did you get these people?!?", "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!", and "It's not cuckoo, fran, and ollie; it's kuckla Sam and Irving!"

  • Now just a minuaite it not cuckoo freind and olie it's, CUCKOO, SAM BOB AND BETTY AND CHARLES LOL

  • LOL at Gene saying its Kukla Sam & Irving.

Good answers would have been bird or clock!

  • Even the Match Game Wheel was up for some spinning after that answer. lol :)

  • For those not old enough to remember? There used to be a live-action children's show called "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie." A lovely woman named Frances was the hostess. Kukla was a clown with a red rubber ball for a nose. And, Ollie--a one-horned, leopard-spotted dragon with a Beatle haircut--was his best friend. Both of the latter were hand puppets, of course, voiced by the versatile Burr Tillstrom.

  • Thanks!

  • You're welcome. :-)

  • If you listen closely, at 0:35 while Gene is behind the turntable he says "where did you get these people?!?"

Maybe the best reaction by a host to a bad answer in game show history. I think only Dawson in the "September" incident comes close.

  • Forgive me, but Dawson's "September" supasses this. It took him at least three minutes to get himself together and ask the same question.

  • @walterlv01 - Yes, the "September" moment was incredibly funny!!!

  • She didn't even get the names right Kukla, Fran and Ollie - not Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie.

There are at least two other answers though. Cuckoo Bird or Cuckoo For Cocoa Puffs

  • "he could say it, it's possible he's got that on that card, CUCKOO FRAN AND OLLIE!"

  • "in the first place, it's not cuckoo FRAN and ollie, it's KUKLA SAM AND IRVING!" LOLOLOLOL!

  • Unbelievable! How can someone muck up such an EASY answer as that! Absolutely astonishing!

  • WHAT?! WHAT?! THE HECK?! Frendanali?!?!?! You shoulda said CLOCK!!

  • That's Fran and Ollie.

  • XD!!

Love it, especially when Gene and Bill lose it!

  • "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES"!!! LMAO!

  • She even got her OWN answer wrong, saying Cuckoo, FRIEND and Ollie (instead of Fran). What a dipstick!

  • Not to mention, the friend of Fran and Ollie is actually named Kukla.

  • Bill and Gene's reactions are priceless!

  • Ah, for the days of innocense and fun...

  • Accordian! If it was actually the answer he gave Gene probably would have gone into cardiac arrest!

  • Actually, "Accordian" is a reference to a regular round question featuring the same contestant, in which she gave "accordian" as a dumb answer.

  • is it just me or is this thing not loading properly suddenly? I went to show my friend this clip and it never loaded! :(

  • It's not you. Everytime they upgrade YouTube, something like this happens. I'll report it.

  • They need to bring this show back!!! Unfortunately celebs would want too much money...

  • Classic

  • This is what I used to watch after school. It still beats everything else that still goes on after school. Too bad Gene Rayburn died, and too bad CBS dumped the show.

  • Didn't even have to see the whole thing to know he would say clock. Funny clip though.

  • awwww.be niccceeee!

  • Big deal she made a simple mistake. she thought the show was "Cuckoo Friend and Ollie" instead of kukla.... It was wrong for them to ridicule her for that. (to that extreme anyway)

  • You are right, she should not have been ridiculed in that way. She should have been booed off the fcking stage along with any prize money revoked for being so damned stupid.

  • I don't think she was INTENTIONALLY ridiculed. But, this game show was aired during the 1970's. And, people her age--at that time--were most likely children in the 1950's/early Sixties. And, these children usually watched shows like KF&O on Saturday mornings. Hence, the natural assumption that she would be familiar with the correct title of that show, and not use it so...unexpectedly.

  • The audience was too busy laughing to boo anyway.

  • Hear how sped up the action is...that's cause these new airings of MG on GSN are time compressed even more so than in the past...

  • bill daly lost it. lol.

  • such tension

  • among them all, it was one really bad answer that still came to gene's mind when interviewed years later

  • Well, it certainly has MY vote for "Worst Ever Response By A Match Game Contestant".. and also for "Best Reaction By A Match Game panel (including Gene)"

  • She actually said "Cuckoo Friend and Ollie."

And even if she misheard the question, Gene did show her the card. I think she just misheard the title of the show.

  • She must have not heard the question right. Not only that, she said the title wrong. The actual title is "kukla, fran and ollie".

  • For those who don't know...there was a show on in the 50s (I think the 50s) called "Kukla, Fran, and Ollie"

  • Her answer was so dumb!

    (HOW DUMB WAS IT!)

It was so dumb that I rated this movie blank stars.

(I said he rated it FIVE stars!) :D
