  • @JLXOutlaw I work my traps both ways I'll do 12 to 15 reps for 3 sets then go super heavy 4 to 6 reps for 3 sets and I've seen a bigger improvement working them this way then before.

  • I wonder how beneficial it is to work traps in the 10-12 rep range. I know I do it, but I'm curious if traps respond better to high reps, kind of like calves.

    Some muscles just don't grow with the average, anyone have any insight towards this?

  • @Krushed56 Yes I will. My next workout is saturday so I'll do it than. I have never recorded my self. It's kind of gay thing to do but I gues some people are exibicionist. Grip strenght takes years to develop. Rule number one ...never ever use the straps!!! Why you need a belt for? To support your weak core??? Raw is the only way. Train your tendons and ligaments first. A lot of lockouts and partial movements. Everything standing. Get rid of machines. Free weights only.

  • Calves and traps are two muscle groups that can be safely overloaded and respond to heavy weight. In other words I would sacrifice form and ROM to handle more weight in these movements...that is if your looking for uncommon strength and your not just a pump and burn addict.

    i have been working out for a year and i do about 140kg traps...20reps...max out at 180 doing one

    but i need advice/help, i cant seem to hold the barbell properly, i just ends up on my fingers, and i get severe pain in my figners the next day, im fine with dumbbells, but the weights only go up to 60kg at my gym and therefore to light..any help?

  • have u tried lifting straps. they even have lifting straps with a hook that can support up to 700lbs. like that the weight will stay in the palm of your hand and it wont end up at your fingers
