Hei. Nissan 2,3 Diesel are popular here in Norway. The others snowmobile, IMP, what is that? SnowCat? How many Snow-Trac`s can it be in Alaska, Canada?
The "Imp" is a machine built buy Thiokol, the same company that builds rocket engines. They quit making them some years ago, but parts are fairly easy to get at local auto parts stores. There are alot of SnowTrac's in Alaska and Canada.

Yes, he pulled the VW engine and installed a Toyota engine, it has about 110 hp now and does really well even with the orginal transmission

No, Alaska, just North of Mt. McKinley Park. We have a 40 mile, one way drive from the town of Nenana to get to our cabins.
