Randy should know little tricks on how to get open rather than relying on just speed, but he still relies mainly on it. A good cornerback negates speed, because you can't through something that is in front of you. That is why Aneas Williams who only ran a 4.6 was considered a shut down corner.

Being a great receiver is not based on how tall or fast you are, 6-4" tall, 4.2 forty, and 46" vertical - hell the paper shows that this man is a deep vertical threat. Especially when the average corner height is 5'9 or 5'10. Randy is great, but those who know football, know that he isn't complete fundamentally. Jerry Rice 6'2, 4.5 forty, and definitely not a 46" vertical, but fundamentally and knowledge wise great.

Randy Moss could not route well then and does just a little bit better now. Revis could have D him up, and of course Neon Deion. Moss had vertical ability like Desean, but Desean can route like a mofo though. Also, Randy was tall with a 46" vertical, which makes it hard to play the vertical balls for the corners, but not impossible. His jumping ability usually raised the quarterbacks deep ball completion percentage. Make two big plays on Randy and the QB will not look again.

Dude as a pure corner Revis is a lot better than Deion. No disrespect to Deion but he wasn't a super star corner. Deion couldn't tackle for shit. Revis has it all. I think Revis does well against him now because Moss is at a point in his career where he can't dominate with his speed like he used to. Revis ran a 4.37 coming out of college and I'd say that that's right where Moss' speed is at . Revis can run with him, and he has the rare combo of physicality to go with it.

During his Minnesota days, Moss ran a 4.28, and had much better agility and burst at the line of scrimmage. So in his prime, Revis absolutely would not be able to run with Moss.

As for Deion, he had the athleticism and speed to cover Moss, but he wasn't physical, so I don't think he could take Moss out of a game because it would just be a question of Moss' raw talent versus Deion's. They'd probably go back and forth, each making plays on the other. The problem with Deion though, is that he also relied on his speed, so if Moss got ahead of him, Deion wouldn't be able to catch up and close the gap. He could keep up with him, but he couldn't break up a well placed ball.
