  • "harmony" is impossible UNLESS you can read your opponents mind and i don't ANYONE who can.

  • "Koshinage" is just "hip throw" I believe. It can be done any number of ways from any number of attacks. The exact way that it is performed isn't the focus so much as the movement is.

Also different disciplines will call the same movement different things.

  • Would not call this a koshi waza .It is more like ippon Seoi nage[shoulder throw]as per Judo.

  • Ikeda is nice to watch, thanks for the vid!

  • thats a seoinage, and judo/aikido came from koryu ju jutsu melvin, so you're stupid as balls.

  • parece una pluma como se levanta, good job

  • it s judo seoinage

  • most of judo techniques comes from aikido, so you'll find same thechniques in judo and aikido, you have to do a little research before say some ******** comment like that.

and in THAT video it's Koshi nage from aikido.

  • That's really not true... Judo was created from the jujutsu schools (Tenjin Shin'yō-ryū and Kito ryu) Kano Jigoro sensei had studied before he created Judo.

  • yes you are right, judo and aikido are coming from koryu JJ.

so yes it is ippon seoinague and it is a very direct way of doing shiho nage.

koshy as the name indicates is thehip throw.

all aikido tecnhique can have koshi.

in fact they should have koshy if you do mean buisness.

  • I suppose you mean 'koshi' こし ( 腰 )

Most of the Jujutsu for Aikido came from the Takeda line of Daito ryu and some from shinto ryu so there isn't much in common between Judo and Aikido unless we are talking Tomiki aikido.

  • Does it really matter? I am relatively sure that several ryu not mention have some thing along those lines as well, Medieval ringen does for sure and neither Ueshiba nor Kano spoke 15th century medieval German.

My point was that even though judo and aikido share a common heritage but are separated entities with no filiations, there is nothing baffling in finding the same techniques in both.

I practice aikido and I have done that move from the inside and the outside.

  • Most likely true.

  • The red headed guy looks kind of like my old Aikido instructor.

  • Saotome shihan and Ikeda shihan rulz :P

  • Isn't that what Judo calls Ipon Seonage?

  • yeah i was thinking the same thing

  • The technique it´s the same...BUT the difference is: in Aikido we don´t throw with the move of the head, we don´t want to use our personal weight. Of course a lot of technique in aikido are and judo are the same. Aikido it´s not a style...it´s all the technique the are in Harmony with the principles of aikido.

  • hmm, I practice Aikido and practiced judo for a while (couple of years- and if they use power in judo it's for the one reason that the distance with your partner is way closer than in aikido.

I don't quite agree with the tech being in harmony with the principles of aikido: in aikido we don't want to hurt our partner but control him/her, right? If you use a shoulder throw like that against someone who doesn't know to doe a breakfall he breaks his back.. very dangerous thing to do!

  • Well, you are right!!!but that´s the problem with the modern concept of HARMONY.That´s wasn´t the idea of OSensei. The big difference of Aikido & standart Judo is t foot stance, because if you don´t be in hanmi t Sensei hit your intim parts. Harmony??? Well O Sensei said"99% in Aikido is ATEMI". Breakfall is a hurt thing, but not only in koshinage, what happen in Kokyunage, iriminage, shihonage, etc...BUT if you know that uke know UKEMI then you can do this koshinage in harmony and it´s AIKIDO.

  • that's completely true and very well said!

  • while in general Koshinage is different from Judo throws is because in Koshinage we transfer the energy and weight of the attacker to the other side, whilst in Judo they exaggerate the throw and Kazushi(unbalancing).

  • im not an akido fan but that was beutifull timing

  • this video was awesome, I wish more Aikido stuff was in slow motion
