@hold121 - i dont understand your psychology. Honestly you can rip apart the song harmonically, tonally as much as you want. That does not change the fact that its a good song. The beatles could have chosen to use a violin instead of a harmonica for Love Me Do. Would it have been as big a hit? I dont know. but as it remains what they came up is what we have come to love.

I think that it would have been good if Swanand Kirkire had left out the dari part of the song to Zaib herself. You should leave Dari to those who speak it and uif you really want to sing it, then it sohould be done after profound practice.
Zeb and Haniya should not sing in Urdu nor Hindi their voice does not suit the harsh tones. From purely international creative view this is a muddled failure. Both artist are trying to combine too many things. Simplicity is the key and Zeb and Haniya should know that creative evolution is a slow process sudden change does not always work. Sure they will sell the record but at what cost.
its a song that has turned into an instant International Hit...and i think all of them have pulled it off completely....cuz the amount of components on the song is unbelieveable and yet there is pure harmoney among them all through the song....all in all its a job well done...and wayyyyyy better than Minds Without Fear

Zeb's voice is so clear, has an amazing quality. Haniya's chorus part is so addictive. Shantanu's tune is simple and sweet. Swanand's words are beautiful.

I think that it would have been good if Swanand Kirkire had left out the dari part of the song to Zaib herself. You should leave Dari to those who speak it and uif you really want to sing it, then it sohould be done after profound practice.

Zeb and Haniya should not sing in Urdu nor Hindi their voice does not suit the harsh tones. From purely international creative view this is a muddled failure. Both artist are trying to combine too many things. Simplicity is the key and Zeb and Haniya should know that creative evolution is a slow process sudden change does not always work. Sure they will sell the record but at what cost.

And i dont mean this in any attacking way but it would be nice for people from the indian sub continent to understand what music is about and the construction by examining the greats in their respect genre in your countries. @hold121 What international standards. FYI, Slumdog song wasn't great, but before that, may more shitty songs have won the Oscar, none of which were from the Indian subcontinent. Funny how inspite of not meeting the "international standards", musicians from this part of the world, India and Pakistan are the most acclaimed. Look at a bit of history of music as well. You not liking this song is cool, but the generalization of the music is disgusting!

Art consists not just of technical bits but also the resonance that it has with the audience. On that level, I would say this song has been well received and when that happens (and history of art stands proof) I don't think the technical failings matter anymore.
