in the opening he said "you don't go to comics for porn!" i said in my head "i don't to you for advice" but i totally agree comic books are for imagining other things outside of our world. not for suggestive themes.
They've been a little wishy-washy on what the main DCU earth is called to be fair.
New Earth/Earth-1/Earth-prime have all been used to describe it.
Although New Earth is what they call it in Infinite Crisis I suppose I hate the term as it belittles the simple fact that the current Earth combines the most of DCs history into one world.
i think its refered to as new earth in some recent comics i've read. i kinda like that distinction. i just hope they can incorporate so much stuff into dc comics so the dcu gets too complicated for the heroes( but not for the readers). i love dc but i just dont find the stories that serious enough for the characters cause i am the biggest supes fan and the only characters i luv lately is superman prime and KC supes in JSA- simply put i want the DCU to have a more serious tone. what do u think?
I just want to thank you for doing these reviews on such a regular basis. It's kind of hard to find comic shops in my country so I can't really browse the books to see what's worth it and what's not. Your reviews really help me decide wich stuff i'll buy online. Thank you very much.
Thanks man. That's one of the best comments I've gotten. I love comics so it's nice to find people who feel the same way, no matter what part of the world they are on.
Arghhh, I hate the multiverses and multiple Earths! I thought Crisis on Infinite Earths fixed that? This is why I don't pick up any new Justice League titles, I feel sometimes too out of place.
Excellent reviews as usual. But sounds like you're bunged up, got a cold?
Thanks for the concern, it was early in the morning and I wasn't fully awake yet.
I think final crisis should put everything back down to one earth. The one thing that has been publisized is that one person who has been around for ages is going to die.
Kingdom Come was one of the things that got me back into comics after a long lapse. Great book. But I was always more about Marvel, and I got a hold of some Paul Jenkins and was hooked. I kind of agree with natzo89 about the characters not being believeable (even for comics). Anyway, you've got me sold on SCUD, but I've gotta wait for that omnibus. Great show!
i understand what u mean about Teen Titans number 1. well did get to see how Nightwing got out of trouble. i still really liked the book. great review.
I tried to get into DC and read some of their books, but man it is WAY too confusing. I even went to Barns and Noble to read one of the TPB's and it was all over the place and going off into like different earths and no this guy doesn't belong on this earth....I had a headache just trying to make sense of it all.
Yeah DC has made the last few years very difficult for new people to get into. Last years crisis had a lot to do with the one in the 80's and if you didn't know the characters or the stories it made impossible to get into. There are some good stuff. If you haven't read Kingdom Come check that out, still one of the best books I've ever read.
DC got stuck in the golden age, I really can't identify with any of the characters, which are way overpowered. I mean even though we are talking about comic books, some stuff is too unbelievable
I agree with you about JSA, infact issue 11 (I think it was 11) got nominated for an Eisner Award this year.
Great writing and good art. I just wish that they would not draw on the Kingdom Come stuff so much. Having Superman there is werid enough (issue 13 having Superman talk with Superman was kind of odd) but they should leave out the stuff that brings up the whole hyperverse problem.
Agree with you totally and can't understand why they want to make things even more confusing. Especially, given the continuity problems already brought up by COUNTDOWN, BRAVE & THE BOLD and the upcoming FINAL CRISIS.
Oh yeah...as much as I love DC they have no continuity between all the titles. How is anyone supposed to figure out what is going on when it seems that their own writers don't know.

The Kingdom come world is Earth-22.
The idea isn't to say the same things are going to happen on both worlds.
The KC world didn't/doesn't have a Justice Society.
And thats the whole point; to show the contrast and why the JSA is so important to Earth Prime/Earth-1.
Because without the JSA E-1 would turn into the same poop-hole that was the KC(e-22) World.
Hope that help you enjoy JSA more!

I never saw SERENITY, FIREFLY or whatever it was called, so I'll pass on the series.
I still think JSA is one of the best DC titles and will hope that things come together pretty soon.
Great stuff as always.
