Hey guys, I'm 15 and if you have any spare time please check out my guitar covers on my channel. It sucks advertising like this but it's the only way to get exposure thanks if you check them out :)
His music is so exciting and inspiring , you never know just what you'll hear in his vast library. We are witnessing genious in real time , quite frankly the futuristic sound of music ... way before its time.
Come on... You can't deny there's some Yorke influence in this. I'm not implying Beck is unoriginal or something, I love his work. And Jmwitz may have been implying such a thing, idk... but yeah... come on.
@jmwitz1 Nah, if anything it's more inspired by something like Boards of Canada or Aphex Twin's song Flim.
No doubt there has been some Radiohead influence on Beck, but Beck doesn't sound as... depressing as Yorke. Yorke strips all the light from his music while Beck tries to find the light in darkness.
Both artists make dark depressing music (Beck's only been doing it for a few albums, and Modern Guilt was the first where it really came to the front), but they go about it different ways.
Best tune on Modern Guilt, hands down. It sounds like he's couched in a boat that's traversing choppy (yet navigable) waves. And the break down at the end makes me feel he's reached some kind of enlightenment.
Don't understand why this was never released anywhere, LOOKS exactly like his directorial style; no doubt a self-production along with others on Modern Guilt...A GREAT tribute to Marcel Duchamp-grand-daddy of the ready-made, not his first tribute to Dumchamp by any means, he was a huge artistic influence to generations including Beck from a very young age; he was surrounded with exposed to/ this aesthetic afterall in his family of origin, especially his grandfather Al Hansen; the Fluxus artist
I love when Beck's tunes go off into the instrumental jams like at the end of this one and Cellphone's Dead

The melody at 0:15 reminds me of Stewart Copeland's score for Spyro The Dragon lol. The drums are gorgeous.
