I never liked Filmation GB so much but I must admit that this theme is damn good; I always had problems with Filmation series due to the repeated animated sequences although I admit I loved He-Man when I was like 5...
I liked quite a few of the songs/jingles from this show. Most of them were catchy as hell. They have the series on Netflix right now and when certain tunes play I find myself rewinding parts just so I can hear the tunes again, LOL. I wish I could find the other little cords from this show. The one you posted is cool, but the different ones that used to play throughout every episode were so cool and I can't seem to find them anywhere.
No I take that back the Ghost command and Ghost buggy in the box unopened if it can be found as it is very rare could get $800-$1200, $500-600 opened compared to real ghostbusters $250-$275 opened, $350-400 unopened.
Funny thing is that Filmation Ghostbusters Is starting to get popular now with the show now being shown on the Qubo Channels Night Owl. The Toys are real hot right now too. A Ghost command with the Ghost Buggy w/ packaging can get $500-$600 if you can find them, while the real ghostbusters firehouse and ecto-1 w/ packaging might get $250-$275. I've seen figures unopened go from $40-$100, $10-$30 opened. Real ghostbusters just slightly less. So don't be so hard on the Filmation version because w
Wow I was completely unaware that Filmations GB came 1st. Good information here for sure! Im guessing that theres a dvd set for this show? Im also interested in findng Danger Mouse & Count Duckula. Hit me up if you have any details on the 3.
@JohnM3D on the DVD set, there is I believe a storyboard section and this music plays behind it. Very cool. Filmation hit me with the copyright claim on a few things but until I see a CD for sale with the song available or the series music, I don't see how they could possibly lose any money from this as there's no video or anything.
@zackgb Filmation can't hit you with a copyright claim. The company hasnt existed for 21 years... You must mean Entertainment Rights or Classic Media, the current owner, who also owns Dick Tracy, Lone Ranger and other classic characters such as Lassie... I wouldnt toy with them, if I were you.
This music is commercially available on the DVD's - if people want them, they need to purchase those. If you want to live in a free economy, this is the price.
@zackgb filmation doesn't exist anymore. there's some UK company called Boomerang(not to be confused with Boomerang the cable channel) that own's the rights to most of filmation's properties, including The Ghostbusters and it's animated series.
@zackgb Technically, there shouldn't be a Filmation. They were bought by Jean Chalopin at the turn of the 90s, and their shows belong to IDE Entertainment (from Holland, I think). You were probably zapped by them.
Slick artwork, gripping episodes, great music... you put these three qualities together and you get Filmation's Ghostbusters.
Better than that OTHER Ghostbusters cartoon with its friendly Slimer, blonde Spengler and dreadful storylines. "Real Ghostbusters"? Which one came first then?
Filmation version had a moral for kids to learn at the end of episodes. "Real Ghostbusters" gave the same moral in every episode: "Buy all our merchandise, kids!"
@SASRISGAY Absolutely. It's amazing how many people know all about the "Peter, Ray, Egon" Ghostbusters and have never even heard of this show. Well, Filmation"s Ghostbusters came first. There's no disputing that and Filmation's version was light years beyond what they called The "Real" Ghost Busters. Columbia Pictures had to obtain the rights to the name from Filmation for its film. That's right. Filmation's boys came first. Not only that but they did it better.
@SASRISGAY It was something about copyrights. Columbia made the movie in 84 but there was a live action version on which this series was based. The characters are the "sons" of the originals. Columbia basically screwed filmation
@Refazhe How did they screw Filmation? Lou wasnt stupid, y'know..
They made the movie and had egg on their face, because they hadnt done their research properly and didnt know the name was already trademarked. But Filmation sat down with them and they hammered out a licensing deal so they could use the name for the movie - Lou then turned around, like the smart guy he is, and did an animated series to match Columbias. The ORIGINAL Ghostbusters... screw the ripoffs from Columbia =D
@SASRISGAY I remember that i had a few of the action figures from this show and I loved it... I used to watch it on a UHF station on my mamaw's old tv in the army and navy store that she used to own.
@SASRISGAY Actually this version of The Ghost Busters is the animated sequel to a little known live action series that was broadcast on Saturday mornings in the 70's.
@SASRISGAY Complete bullshit. Filmation's Ghostbusters didn't last nearly as long as "The REAL Ghostbusters." The only reason that Filmation created the cartoon was to cash in on the movie hype and claimed that it was a spinoff cartoon of the crappy "Ghost Busters" 1975 live-action version. At least "The Real Ghostbusters" was EXCITING and full of inventive and original ghost creations. The only thing this show proved to be was a complete and utter borefest.
I remember alot of people thought this was supposed to be the official cartoon based on the movie, until the EGB series came out. Even as a child in kindergarten at that time, I was thinking to myself WTF??
I never got too much into this show as a kid (I was too young and got confused witht he Real GB, which I loved), however this theme song truly rocked.
This theme-song was top notch! I was always a "real" Ghostbusters fan growing up. I liked the Filmation show too, even if it was 2nd rate. The theme song was awsome...and still is!
This is kinda similar to "Never Say Never Again"...not quite a "real" Bond movie..but stull fun to watch.
He also did the music for the early Power Rangers series, the X-Men animated series and the first two seasons of Ocean's dub of Dragonball Z (as in not the American version).
It's not listed in any of his credits, or on his website. He did do the music for The Real Ghostbusters, though. I'm actually very curious as to who did *this* theme.

Am i the only one who remembers this? WFT?!
The 'intro' you speak of is in every single episode when they don their ghostbusting uniforms. Whether or not this was worked into an intro, I can't say.
