  • I like this but don't think it's a good idea for my cat because she likes to eat the sand I buy for her cat litter also she always make sure she puts some in her water and she always always take a lot out the box my cat is weird

  • cats r nasty dogs rock

  • ........Our dog took a SHIT in this thing. He is a Great Dane so the log was massive. The shit scooping arm broke right in half from this heavy LOAD. -Not good. :-)

  • @waterfordjim ROFLMFAO!!!

  • its like a cat toilet

  • Just tossed the Cat Genie after second motor breakdown. Don't buy anything with mechanical parts. They break and it's expensive to replace them. They want me to buy a new machine now, AFTER TWO MOTOR REPALCEMENTS IN TWO YEARS? .Huge hassle mailing the old ones back.

  • What if you have more than one kitty and it has to go when it's cleaning?

  • This was a $300.00 mistake I made. My cats saw the arm come out and never looked at it again.

  • I want it!!! But i live in Cyprus! :-( I don't think we have something like this...

  • why does it do the *bump* *bump* thing sound???

  • @kutak21 pretty sure its to get the litter off the tray

  • @kutak21 It's shaking the excess litter granules off of the scoop, keeping them in the pan. You'd normally shake a poop scoop in a regular kitty litter box to do the same thing. It just sounds odd, but it's not dying. :)

  • You can't really see the water entering because everything gray. Do you have to buy Granules separately? Also do u need to replace them?

  • Yes the granules are included with your purchase of the Cat Genie.

The granules are cleaned, sanitized, dried and constantly re-used.

Once in a while you may need to replace a handful of granules due to spillage from when the cat leaves the litter box or a few granules get stuck between your cats toes.

Keeping a textured matt around the Cat Genie which may collect some of these errant granules can help preserve granule retention.

  • @hawaiiparadisecafe but you still need to replace them

  • Thanks for posting. It's such a long process. I have two cats and a lot of times they use the litter box right after each other. WIth the cat genie they'd have to wait 30-35 minutes after use right? And does it do it automatically or does one have to manually flush it?

Pretty noisy, does that bug you?

    Thanks again.

  • The old 60 version had to be flushed either manually by a human or set on a timer. The new 120 which I received a few weeks ago has cat activation. 10 minutes after your cat goes it does a cycle, which is quicker than the normal cycle because it knows the mess hasn't had time to become a big mess and will require less cleaning.

If your cats use the litter box right after each other it should not be a problem with the new 120 as it resets the timer to a new 10 minutes everytime a cat goes.

  • The cat genie offers programmed cleaning times at what ever time you set it at. Many people prefer to program times around their own schedule. We find that cats look forward to using the cat genie (after they get used to the cleaning time period) right after the cleaning period. With 2 cats you may want to experiment with either 1 or 2 programmed times per day. We don't find the cleaning period to be an invasive sound.

  • with the new 120 version it starts 10 min after a cat goes. If another cat goes in that 10 min the timer is simply reset. Its timer is set up like a littermaid... It is set to go off 10 min after no activity is seen in the box.

As for the noise it is a little on the loud side of litter boxes but nothing that isn't managable.

  • the hand is jerky and shaky to knock off and granules that might be stuck to the cat poo as to not waste any granules by flushing them. (you have to user special granules in the cat genie.) I know. I thought it was cheap looking at first too. we've had ours for 2 years now, it's still works great. never had to buy any more granules either only the cartridges every 3 or so months. it's worth the money.

  • ok I was wrong. why is the schoop hand so jerky as its going in and coming out?

  • It's jerky by design so that it can shake off the permanent litter crystals. That way you don't have to replenish them as often.

  • There is no unpleasant smell during the drying process (or any other process for that matter) because

    1. the first cleansing stage involves immediate removal of any fecal matter and

    2. there is a pleasant aroma emitted later on released from the cleanser cartridge during the washing stage of the litter for re-use and this is guaranteed for 60 uses. Two of these cartridges are included with every Cat Genie and the unit can not function with out it.

  • Does this product smell during the drying process?

  • Yes it is indeed necessary for water to dispense each time the Cat Genie litter is cleaned in order to activate the cleaning solution which is released with the water supply and used to not only rinse any urine sifted through the bottom screen of the unit but also to dissolve and liquefy all of the fecal matter that is captured so that it can easily flow down any drainage arrangement.

  • Does it have to wash the litter with fluid each time the litter scooper is activated?
