people like britney spears and other big popstars have autotune on their live mics to make sure they're singing the right now. if they're in anyway NEAR the right note, it will autotune to what they should be singing. this is why some performances seem 'flawless' - they secretly rarely are.

no u don't if u have millions of dollars to spend on professional studio equipment, you can get studio head phones that cut out all the background shit. even if u have that "leak" i'ts never that loud. It's way too hard to mix anything with all that "leak." Producers know better than that. the fx on the vocals would be on the "leak" too & the leak is too loud; u'd hear it on the music, and u don't so it's not a real accapella.
