They lie on the lumen rating I learn that lesson a long time ago. Cree xpg or cree xml are the only ones that will go beyond 300 lumens. If they have them in the flashlight they will write it somewhere on the package or the flashlight.
THAT is the kind of a review/comparison I like. Where I CAN see the output of the lights side by side. If only more would do reviews like yours. Well done!
At 1:43 it seems the Life+Gear just falls out and loses a ton of juice. The initial output just drops off after very little time. I could be wrong and drinking to much tonight.
There is a reasonable explantation for the higher lumens but lower intensity. Compare the the amount of "Candela". I bet you a couple of bucks that the SL has quite a bit higher Candela value.
All serious flashlight manufacturers mark with Candela as well as Lumen and some other stuff. You can always hide a poor flashlight in a high lumens spec.
I just picked up the life gear at auction for $45 and it came a long with a snowboard tuning kit that retails for $45. So I got a SICK DEAL. I was really lucky today.
Thanks so much for the video. I have been laboring some as to this same purchase through Costco. Your demonstration just tipped me back away from the purchase. I do appreciate the time spent for this video upload.
Another thought. I know next to nothing about lumens but noticed the life+gear light had three leds. I wonder if each rate at 120 and they multiplied to get 360. However (assuming this is right) putting the 3 together doesn't really give you 3 time the light, does it?
Looks like Life Gear just like a lot of companies need to be schooled on what a lumen is. that streamlight looks a lot brighter and the color is a lot whiter.
Looks like each light has a different focus. The stinger smaller and more directed.
Good vid. Just got the smaller life gear AA one for $13 clearance at target. It's amazing what LED's are doing these days.. I mean 80lumens 10hrs off one AA??!? wow.
It's nice to see what LED's are doing these days. As far as price, I'll always shoot for the cheaper flashlight as long as it's got some decent quality. I have a feeling the Life Gear flashlight is a pretty strong/bright light for the buck.
Just picked up the Life Gear 360 Lumen flashlight, got the deal of the day a few days ago, it was $69.99 for 2, regular price $99 for 2, anyhow, based on the price, 2 Life Gear for 1 Streamlight, overall not a bad deal all considering. But yeah, I hear you, there lumen rating is a lil bit misleading, but the Life Gear is still a good flashlight. PD rated, so essentially you can crack it on someones head, if need be and it'll still work, so they say.

If it's serious you will find the ANSI marking.

isn't that streamlight twice as much?

@rusilver2 Close, but I'm comparing the lumen rating, not the price.

Congrats on a great deal. For that price, I'd buy it too. One thing I do like about the Life Gear is the runtime.
