OHHHMYYYGODDD!!!I NEVER ONCE THAT SHE CAN SPEAK NORMALLY.Don't get me wrong. I watch Switched at Birth (its my FAVORITE Tv Show) and blimey she can really act. I mean who can act deaf with that accent!WOW!!!KATIE LECLERC IS AWESOMEEEEE!!!

But in all seriousness, I think it's silly that the majority on here are saying that they hate daphne...if this were your situation I'm sure you would be rude too and in a bad mood. Bay was snotty at first but now it's Daphne's turn I guess. Everyone gets like that. Who cares? No reason to HATE the character or person.

I really do not think Daphne is so bad...I mean honestly, how would you feel? It would be really hard. And for those of you who are saying how disappointed you are that she isn't REALLY DEAF...shame on you....it's called acting....that's almost like saying "I'm disappointed that so-and-so isn't really gay!!!!"

@iilovejonasbros04 She's a big fan of the High School Musical movies. Before every acting audition she has a song that she listens to and dances to in her car. She happened to be listening to High School Musical's "I Want It All" and when she walked into the audition for Switched at Birth that day, she saw Lucas who plays Ryan in the movies and she got super excited. They are now co-stars :)

the term deaf really isnt very descriptive of the condition ... there are many varying degrees of the whole thing hard of hearing is more accurate description of the condition

she's not deaf, people. she is hard of hearing. she has major trouble hearing even with her hearing aids and relies on a mix of lip reading and hearing. My sister is hard of hearing and has trouble sometimes too so you have to repeat yourself sometimes. But you would never know because she speaks completely normal.

She has a disease of the inner ear. She was diagnosed when she was 20. She is 24 now and can still hear for the most part, but as she gets older, her hearing will start disintegrating and she will end up being deaf. She talks with an accent in the show...she knows how to speak like that because both her dad and her sister have the same disease as her so she is used to hearing it. For people who didn't know.
