  • Awful, im sorry but just awful!!!!! No narative in the music. Its like a ballade on a r&b album. If your gonna make write fussion music be inventive no-one wants to hear somthing bland!!! Waste of money getting an orchestra together to play somthing like this... Use arts funding wisley dont crap it away on novelty. Novelty is not ART

  • this is very good music, but i'd prefer your trio

  • I know what concerto means.

  • HEY :) WANT TO CHECK OUT MY MUSIC GROUP ?? CALLED MAJOR TRIADZ .... CHECK OUT OUR TRACKS YOUTUBE :)

  • It somehow reminds me of the music from the movie "solaris". Great piece

  • I LOVE OUR MUSTACHE!!!!

  • second half now posted

  • @randywoolf just wanna thankyou for having the score available :D its amazing stuff

  • i'm normally thoroughly impressed by his playing but i don't really care for this one so much. it doesnt seem to live up to the image i normally get of him. i will say it started to get good near the end but thats after watching more than half of it. regardless, he's still an amazing player

  • you can hear the whole piece [no video] and see the score at randall woolf.com

  • Ok, where can I buy the mp3 of this? F'real. This is awesome.

  • can you post the second part please?

  • It is fantastic..!! :o :)))))

  • Great piece, a really clever fusion of the hip hop and contemporary classical. Best of both worlds!

  • Any chance of the second part being posted?

  • Greg is very very cool=)))

  • @Touch75 no way

  • I am such a fan of your work, that was one of the most moving pieces i have seen.

  • I know it's a signature, but I think the beatboxing took away from the greatness.

  • @steakmanchu It's the orchestration that doesn't work. He's not with the usual instruments of the "style" But overall it sounds fine.

  • Sooooooooooo beautiful !

  • my god! OH MY! i want some show like that in my country :( come lovely Greg

  • wasnt that great... idk i like this guy i mean hes amazing but his part doesnt match the orchestra they just dont combine into one melody. He sounds off too, like hes messing up a little bit

  • I adore Pattillo, but I honestly think that he should stick to his own improvisation couse that's directly from his heart and no composer can outgo that.

  • project trio ftw

  • SO beautiful and this is my ALMA MATER! Thank you SO much for posting!

  • @Touch75 so what?

with that amount of talent, do you think anyone gives a f@(k ?

  • i love ur music!!!! sounds like somethin in like a spy movie

  • 23 people will burn in hell

  • Es un groso el chabon... Its a master tis guy... Wow...

  • My uncle Randy Woolf wrote this

  • This is wonderful! Come to the SF Bay Area again, please!

  • Did the rest of Project get to play in the orchestra?

  • @Musician4God77 no, but that's a good idea for future performances, if they are already there. thanks!!!

  • I don't know, I've always been a fan of Patillo and the Project Trio, but this piece seems strange. I mean, I know that modern music may be amelodic, but there are always other aspects being developed, like timbre, articulation, gestures or harmony. The beat is pretty much the same and so are the notes. It just seems a waste of Patillo's talent, cause we've all seen him do much more complicated things. A concerto should do exactly this: show the real skills of the soloist. That didn't happen.

  • The comments about the symphony being amelodic are really amusing. In many modern pieces the structure of the music is much more important than the melody. For older pieces by older composers, there was a different aesthetic. All one has to do is listen to the single motif presented by M. Ravel in his most famous piece, the Bolero, to know that the focus of the piece was NOT the melody, but the emotion the repitition evoked. This piece affects me much the same way.

  • @tambrathegreat Yes but it does not show a talent. I could play what he is playing technical wise in my sleep. Not with the beatboxing but without it i can. He has so much more talent than this.

  • @AllyKat1236 allykat, wait for the second half to be posted. it's much more showy.

  • ....i wonder how wet the microphone is

  • @ComradeDeath If I wanted some ambient background music, I'd put on.. Enya? *shudders*

But I don't want that. And I listen to quite a variety already.. sorry for not liking everything you do.

  • "Concerto for Beatbox" has got to be one of the best quotes ever.

  • There's no clear melody... this makes it hard to sit and listen to. The Beatbox plus orchestra sounds great, but the flute sounds... forced?... almost unnatural through the entire beginning and middle of the piece...

  • 19 dislikes = 19 people with no talent & no respect for talent either. You dick heads do BETTER!!! Props to the flute boxer...... BRO YOU THA MAN.

  • @BadassDeeess He's good, but I sure as fuck wouldn't listen to this for more than 5 minutes. No melody = not memorable.

  • @Xerxes4242 There is a melody. It's built into the strings int the background, and is brought into the the flute part every so often. It takes some carefull listening but it is there.

  • @moonlitdancer37 Anything that's not one note can be said to be a melody... this is hardly memorable. Have you EVER hummed or sang it to yourself, or even remembered it after watching? Seriously doubt it.

He's a good street performer, but as long as he's beatboxing, he'll be nothing more.

  • @Xerxes4242 Each to their own bro... I love all music in general

  • second part coming soon....

  • Where is the second part? Wish to hear it ,too!

  • Were is the second part? Couldn't find it.

An amazing great piece of music. Thanks for posting it!

  • LOVE it!!!

  • Lovely in it's own way!

  • I really want to know what the model number of that flute is.

  • o melhor do mundo

  • It's a graet idea... but it could done much better...

  • Greg and a Composer named something wolf were hired to collaborate and write this piece together. Greg had as much input on the symphony as he did on his own playing.

  • not sure how i feel about this... i wasn't very impressed with the arrangement but i think it was a good try. i think that there might be a better way to do this tho...

  • Revolution of music

  • A poor use of Greg's talents... the orchestra part is lame.

  • this is pretty good I like the tone to it.

  • Nicely done mate! two thumbs up

    Keep on jammin'

  • @randywoolf Can you send me the music as well? It would be much appreciated.

  • i show 14 disslike....wtf this is awesome music..keep up the great work pattilo!!

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • so cool

  • Greg Pattillo is awesome!!! However, this composer is terrible! The audience didn't even stand after the "Concerto" However when he played his encores the house almost came down! Randy Woolf has wasted more of UNCSA's money and time more than anyone except Ransom Wilson. Good Riddance! The "concerto" was only one movement long and sounds like something a stoner wrote while pretending to be a minimalist composer, copy & pasting two "themes" hundreds of times and calling it art, and charging you..

  • WOW WOW WOW You're Awesome

  • Really great

  • I want to jam out some drums with this guy. Greg if you are looking for some added percussion and drums Let me know. Keep up the good work Brother.

  • Haha This is siiiiiick :D

  • nice

  • Greg - if you've got more video game remixes, you might ask the PAX folk if you can perform - paxsite.com

  • I dunno....The string seemed....useless somehow...=/

  • Awesome!

  • Crazy, I wish that I could do something like that. Guess it will just take even more practice.

  • =O

    always so amazing you're!

  • very nice! But why does he need that sheet of paper? how do you write down beatbox? ^^ *bum bum tz* :D

  • Comment removed

  • @furiouza @furiouza give me your email address and i will send it to you.

  • I wish could watch this live someday..

  • rely is so cool i like it

  • This is so cool!

  • I was at that performance you want to talk about amazing i sat in the balcony and it was phenomenal i had chills the Whole time they played

  • Super Epic, OMG he should be a reading or download!

  • This is incredible! Man, I gotta figure out how to do this!

  • This was pretty nice. This will be my masturbation song from now on

  • Wildly talented.

  • very awesome. great feeling.

  • it is preety hard to beatbox at a set tempo.

  • wooooooooooow awesome blend of incredibly beautiful and incredibly cool ;)

  • Great :)

  • kewlios!!! :D

  • по правде сказать - не понравилось. в переходе еще прокатит. но целый оркестр на такую фигню подбивать... извините.

  • Awesome!

  • Love this so much! When's a new CD coming out?

  • you blow my mind every time..i hope you'll upload a better quality video soon!!

  • Why is a better quality video needed? Can't you hear it? If not then you need to get that look into.

  • @canucktheclown well to hear the music better it has nothing to do with volume....but his high notes are pitchy and i just wanted to enjoy it more...

  • really nice perfomance.keep up the nice work.

  • This was incredible. When are you coming to LA?

  • i loved it

  • Well theres something you don't see every day)

  • Nice! Beatboxing to symphony, was a nice blend on this piece.

  • Flute is amazing. And the Tsk tsk K beat box (or whatever) is also awesome!

  • Wow new feeling

  • Really nice! Thats a amazing opportunity you got there! The high F's are peaking so bad in my speakers though! But I enjoyed it a lot.

  • sry i only have two thumbs but both up!!!

  • I loved the idea of having a beatboxing flute concerto. Very modern (or post modern... your choice) and I love the feel. I just didn't understand what the piece is trying to convey. Overall, it was really cool... just wish i got more of the compositional aspect of the piece.

  • Although i usually like pattillo's and his trio's stuff, i don't really like this composition or his flute playing here so much. His volume relative to the rest of the orchestra doesn't seem that good, and the string parts just don't seem very well written at times. I know nothing about writing for orchestra, but this just doesn't sound that good to me.

  • wow this is amazing

  • Cool!

  • This would sound even better in studio version.

  • Well, what can I say? It´s really amazing how good the beatboxing fit to the orchestra.

    Just great.

  • !!Epic!! I´d give you five stars if i could do. Thumbs Up!

  • hell yeah this is awesome, only thing that could top this one is if you and DJ Radar worked with the same song to make a Beatbox/Flute and Turntable Orchestra.

    quite the breath control........ Impressive

  • wowww...beautiful! love it so much.

  • m8 this is awesome

  • i think is the only concert that i d'like to be :)

  • i hope the 8 dislikes were miss clicks, this is fucking amazing

  • 5* magic Greg!

  • bootleg version shot by your parents???? That's too funny.

  • interesting idea :)

  • wow! Beatbox with orchestra!!!

  • Greg has a really great talent and I enjoy everything he does but it would just be more practical and sound better with real drums...I mean beat boxing is just a substitute for when you don't have real drums. I mean...why not use real drums in an orchestra concerto? to me an orchestra is about the music, not a showcase of talents.

  • This is so amazing! Wish I could've seen it live =)

  • @gelatinemonkey Lol sickness is not an option if you are Greg Patillo

  • hey nice to see you again

  • Ahhhh GooseBumps

  • coool

  • We need more music like this in the world today.

  • We need more music like this in the world.

  • You are an absolutely amazing artist!

  • this could be the first time "concerto" and "beatbox" are used in the same sentence. hopefully it won't be the last!

  • That was a great performance. I'm used to seeing those crazy upbeat Project songs so it's nice seeing the beatbox flute in a concerto atmosphere. It was the perfect song to unwind to after a long day of work =)

  • It was good! Haha *turning the page and pausing* now that's authentic!

  • As cool as it is to see this guy who went from doing this stuff on the street by himself for tips, to playing with an orchestra, I gotta say that at some parts, some of this was pretty weak.

  • Congratulations Greg. Seems like yesterday I was listening to you busking on the N,R,W platform at Union Square.

  • does it count as bootleg if it's your own concert? hahaha

  • A holla for North Carolina

but this is a great idea. Im not so sure it was the best it could be. but keep at it. people like you need to keep "classical" music fresh.

  • Man! AWESOME! Just an advice! It seems that you get to exited playing, and it shows in the rithm and tempo, maybe is that you play by instic or need a little practice, and don't try to play the notes that already passed, it delays everything. Other than that your talent and ability are just INCREDIBLE!!! Really great idea!!! I'll keep watching your videos.

  • Thank you for sharing your talent with the YouTube community! I hope you enjoy playing your music as much as I enjoy listening to it!

  • for the first time during the day i was interested

  • Some parts were really cool, others not so much

  • Love it!

  • i love it!

  • is there an mp3 recording of this anywhere?

that would be simply amazing :]

  • Excelent performance!! 5/5

  • amazing

  • Excellent!

  • dude awsome!!!

  • 5 thumbs!

  • what an amazing song, and the beatboxing flute brought life to it :)

  • I was at this concert (:

  • @BricenoAlex Lucky you!

  • @BricenoAlex was it good :O?

  • @BricenoAlex

    luckyyy

  • @BricenoAlex LUCKY!

  • amazing

  • Congrats. What an honor to get to do what you (and almost only you) do best in an orchestra. I only have one question for you: did any of the other flautists offer to be your back-up in case you got sick? ;P

  • @gelatinemonkey I don't think there were any other flautists there. All I saw were strings, and the title DOES say String Orchestra.

  • beatbox and orchestra :)

  • beautiful... it would definitely be a treat to see more videos like this..!!!

  • My father doesn't understand that music doesn't need to be in harmony CONSTANTLY to be beautiful. Although I agree in some parts this wasn't the best.

  • I hope someone recognizes your talent, because this is a great mix of classic and hip-hop. It reminds me of Pete Philly and Perquisite (rapper and a man with a violin)

  • 2010 baby

  • The name Greg Pattillo will go down in history as the name of a musical pioneer, no doubt.
