If only Johnny Depp had stood up and said, "NO!! Don't change this ride!! Who the hell is Davy Jones and why are you bastardizing this whole ride, changing YEARS of history, to fit into a totally new version of the ride based on the movie, which is in fact technically based on the ride?" Depp is a HUGE fan of the restaurant Musso & Frank Grill, a Hollywood staple set up in 1919, a beautiful place that earns respect because of its constancy... because it maintains the wonder of its history!!

I know a secret. The creator of this ride said that when he dies he wants his skull to put somewhere in the ride. When you get to the part of the ride where you see the skeleton on the bed looking throught the glass you see that there is a skull and two bones making an X form. Well that skull looks diffrent compared to the other ones, thats becayse it the creator's. Strange, but true.

6:25 is where i was trapped on the ride for 20 minutes. they had the song blasting the whole time until they just completely stopped the ride and rescued us. it was hilarious.

In one scene, women are standing in a line tied to each other with rope. The better looking among them is in front of the line in a spot light being auctioned off. A sign says, "Auction - take a wench for a bride" (video - at 5:43) The pirates are singing "a pirates life for me" while above it all stands a creepy goat bobbing his head with the music. @xXBlakkMajikXx Jason Surrell did an extraordinary group of books on this, the Haunted Mansion, and the "Mountains" (Space, Splash, etc.) The Pirates one isn't as good as the HM but both give a ton of inside info

They just wanted a different look to the rides as Roy felt that otherwise the park would be considered a remake of Disneyland and he believed that was insulting to Walt's vision.

We broke down on this ride once. It was hilarious. 45 minutes right next to that final hill to the docking area. When they finally turned down the music and sound you would till hear the animatronics move and the hissing noise the guns make. We got a free fast pass for any ride, not to mention a cool inside look of the behind the scenes.
