But now that he's taken on weed as his stimulant the inhibitions may be gone but so has a level of quality control. And he's still lazy, it's been more than a year and he still hasn't finished Batman Widening Gyre and the first part wasn't even that good.

Thank goodness for the Second Cop and his movie knowledge! FDTD wasn't the biggest movie, and even as a Film Guy myself I'm not sure I could have remembered the opening sequence, nevermind having Cops thinking there might be a potential hostage/firefight situation involved.

Kevin did not have to let them into his home. He had a reasonable explanation for why someone might have mistaken a hostage situation, and could have demanded that they get a warrant to search his house. Ive heard Kevin talk about the time he got detained by the border patrol, and he seems like one of these guys who doesnt know his rights and sucks up to authority.

@wakinglifepictures You're right on all counts, but in the post-9/11, post massive-amounts-of-public-shoo­tings world we live in, a potential Hostage/Gunfight situation will *certainly* have the police on High Alert (pun intended ;) - I think given the situation Kevin was correct in handling it there as opposed to "Lawyer Up" esp. w/ kids involved. And I believe the police asked from OUTSIDE for everyone to exit the house... it's iffy if they can do that, but it's not a 4th Amendment violation.

Heres how he should have handled it when they asked him to come outside: "I don't open my door for ANYONE, if you'd like to speak to me, you can talk through the door." After explaining the situation, if they still want to look around: "No one in this house is armed or in trouble, if you have a warrant you're going to have to break down the door."

Most ppl are likeKevin & will surrender thier rights out of fear.

@wakinglifepictures if 911 gets a call stating a female was being choked to death in a house, police have authority to kick down door/make sure everyone is safe.think about it, if they had to write a warrant the victim (if it were real) would be dead.it's called exigent circumstances,trust me I've had to do it. the difference is you dont look for stuff, you just make sure everyone is safe. if i found a pound of weed it wouldnt be admissible in court. hope this helps you.

@trollfinger Asserting your rights is not "Making a scene", in fact, he's teaching his kids that they should be fearful and never question authority. If they found the drugs, they would have no choice but to charge him with illegal possesion, possibly endangering minors. If he talked to them from his window or through a closed door, and explained that things were fine and that he never allows police into his home without a warrant, they would have no choice but to respect that.
