@NZGameReviewer it got that contaminated because Ashland Oil overpressurized the water that they injected into the earth to bring the oil out faster ("water flooding"). the water pressure was too high and fractured / ruptured the earth's plates. there is still oil down there but it is contaminated and useless now.
@MyMIXmedia exactly. which is why the KY Supreme Court's decision to refuse to award property damages to the people in Martha, KY is so baffling. they ruled that because radiation is invisible it somehow doesn't constitute actual physical harm to properties. the "logic" there baffles the mind.
Thanks for upload. I was born in there. My ancestors settled in 1820's as pioneers. Ever since discovery of rich coal beds used for industrial revolution, the people "inbred hillbilly rednecks" have been dehumanized, beautiful mtns treated like a 3rd world nation to be exploited, plundered, destroyed. See movie Matewan.
Family left when I was 5. I became a charter capt on the FL Gulf. The nation's set to fall because they've stabbed our bountiful ocean.
@toxicsouptv oil comes from the ground. is it a serious problem that oil is in the earth everywhere? Wow, what if it concentrates deep within the Earth? Oh yeah it is concentrated in the Earth.
Marathon and Speedway are off my list. They will try to drag this law suit out forever because it is all about their bottom line. All about the MONEY!!
Marathon Oil (formerly Ashland) contaminated this area of Kentucky with radioactive waste, mostly radium-226, with a half-life of 1600 years. Marathon has been trying to dodge legal responsibility for over 13 years through legal maneuvering and technicalities, trying to stick KY taxpayers with the cleanup bill. This case is appealed to the KY Supreme Court.
