  • @3sheetz2thawind its not Corned beef is not just Irish American or Irish.... its simply a way to preserve meat. Lots of different cultures use the corned beef process to preserve meat. The cabbage part now...

  • I llike the brushing of melted butter at the end.

  • You should eat that with your mother!

  • im in miami no irish friends here but im boiling a cornbeef and cabbage today for the fatherland!

  • 5 hours?! Shit... It's 4pm. I'm screwed.

  • the package of corned beef I bought for tomorrow says to cook it for 3 hours. And also, to make it authentically Irish, you should pour some Guinness into the pot. I pour the Guinness and let it sit in the Guinness for about 10 min, then I add the water.

  • I don't give a shit if it's irish, or irish-american. Cabbage taste good, and Corned beef taste good. SO, I EAT IT.

  • I rather eat peruvian food :)

  • @miichelle1221

    Well, FUCK YOU.

  • @XxBrandon98xX @ miichelle1221 , I 2nd That! :)

  • corned beef is actually not Irish it's an Irish-american thing...you have to be born in ireland to be irish btw, silly yanks.

  • Everyone knows that corned beef is an Irish American dish! And everyone knows that you have to be from Ireland to be Irish! But, however, there are such things as Irish Americans and they are celebrating their Irish heritage! Silly fuck!

  • @3sheetz2thawind that is very rude you sound like a very disagreeable person.

  • @beyondtherapy001 I dont care if its rude! Its pretty damn rude for you to be calling us yanks!

  • fuck.. im making some right now just because im hungry lol....now the long wait

  • crock pot is the shit ....... forget about it and stumble apon it when its finish. Plus its the only way to eat low grade meat.

  • They messed this up. Your supposed to cook it in a crock pot and you put the meat and spices in the night before and add the cabbage 3 or 4 hours before you eat.

  • i think it makes a better meal with potatos instead of somthing like celery. but other then that really good :p

  • Mmmm yummy

  • I can't afford the brisket so I used canned cornbeef. Not as good but I love it.

  • just band it in the pot, heat, leave for 5 hours and while u wait do something fun...

  • things evolve from one thing to another.

  • eeem corned beef is not irish. i have never tasted it or heard of it and i live in ireland.

  • It is not Irish in the sense that it isn't a traditional dish in Ireland. However, Irish-Americans started eating it when they came to America many years ago. The cut was accessible and wasn't costly, as this meat and salt were in Ireland at the time. Most people there wouldn't have been able to afford as it was expensive and considered a food for those with money.Irish-Americans found that neighboring Jews would eat this meat as it was a Kosher cut. Other people may know the cut as brisket.

  • Exactly this is an American tradition. So many restaurants here in NYC were offering corned beef, cabbage and boiled potatos.

  • And yes I meant potatoes.

  • @Howcast Are you friends w/ Dan Quayle?

  • where do you get corned beef??

  • the supermarket

  • this is how i do it lol. i boil and simmer it with a whole garlic for 1 hour and a tblspoon of pepper. I then take it out, put it in the oven on high to brown the crap out of it. then I put it in the crock pot for 2.5hrs. but im just wierd.

  • I'm sorry all of you Irish people, but that looks gross.

  • Mmm... looks good. I don't have the extra veggies, though, just cabbage.

  • in ireland they have boild bacon and cabbage wiith boild potatos butter with chef sause lovly

  • aka , how to gross everyone out

  • I messed with an Irish chick directly from Ireland and they dont eat this shit there.

  • I'm gonna puke =(

  • doesnt look all that

  • ok Howcast just contradicted itself like 3 times!

One video showed how to make green beer and another said NOT to drink green beer on St. Patrick's Day. Another video said not to make corned beef and cabbage, but lamb stew instead and this video shows how to make corned beef and cabbage.

    I'M CONFUSED HOWCAST!!!

  • There are different traditions! Some are American based, some are Irish based, some are just to have fun. :)

  • I'm new zealand and i've heard of this

  • I'm Irish and I've never even heard of this xD

  • lol

  • YUM :)

    nice vid

  • It looks good, but it doesn't seem like there would be a lot of taste to it. What else can you add to make it more flavorful?

  • The meat itself is already marinated when you buy it and usually comes with a packet of dry spices so you don't need to add any other seasonings.

  • oh sweet..thanks for the info!!

  • 5 hours with the gass on..

    woow

  • ugh...corned beef? lol

  • hahahaha howcast is definitely in the St. Patrick's Day spirit!

  • FIVE HOURS, I barely have 30 minnutes to cook

  • You start it very early.

  • Doesn't seem worth it cooking 5 hours for something like this though.

  • You won't say that after you've tried it though.

  • doesn't matter, I just cook it 5 hours early while sitting my ass when the corned beef simmers...

  • i liked the music :)

  • nice

  • Pretty spiffy ;]
