you can see that the model crown vic that they go to the towers isn't the same model crown vic that was burned! it's an older model crown vic that was burned!
"I got one less Crown Vic that I had last night, I'm out two Kevlar vests that burned in the car, two hand-held radios, a shotgun, and I'm about to lose this idiot here for a week or two in medical! And for what?! What did you LEARN when you went into the terrace at 2 in the morning to conduct 'field interviews'? What VALUABLE information did we acquire from this situation?!"
He was at the beginning but the way him and Carver changed was great. Compare this Carver to the one who thumped the wheel of his car when he couldn't help poor Randy.
And compare this Prez to the one who became a dedicated teacher who looked out for his students so they wouldn't get chewed up by the system. Great characters
Does anyone else notice that the police crown vic is not the same as the one the night before? If you look at the burned one it's an earlier crown vic model.
I loved watching these three guys evolve. Carve as a supervisor, Herc having to leave because he was too reckless, and unfortunately Pres had a terrible accident. He served the people as an educator insted of a cop.
Out of all the commanding officers on this show Cedric Daniels was the best. I wish someone would upload the scene with him going off on Burrell after he threatened to expose his alleged illegal activities while he was in the eastern district.
I can't think of any other scenes in the series where Daniels raised his voice quite like this. Realizing later on how out of character this was makes a great piece of acting that much better.
SE01E02 was the first I saw and this part was what got me knowing this show was the real deal. Daniels was a real badass Sydney Poitier (think In the Heat of the Night) nigga here when he laid tha smackdown on Prez
Yeah I remember this one. This when the white boi cop blinded home boi with the butt of his pistol. Thats some bullshit right there. I would have sued those motha fuckaz for real! Thats some straight up police bullshit right there.
I just think the police work had got to be too much for him. If he worked as a police he should been able to control those kids in his class room.
ACTUALL, ED BURNS WHO CO-WRITES THE WIRE DID AN INTERVIEW ON NPR. HE WAS A COP AND A TEACHER. HE SAID SOME PEOPLE CAN CONTROL A CLASSROOM AND SOME CAN'T. HE SAID HE COULDN'T AND HE WAS A COP.
But I always thought the point with Prez was that his heart was never really in it. Like for instance, they are all obviously a little drunk, but you can just see the differences between Prez and Carver or Herc and how they handle the street. But true, Prez obviously did transform. And well, Bodie, its sad because all his transforming is done.
hard to believe that prez is a teacher now! o well, i guess people really can change. that's pretty much the entire message of this show. throughout the four seasons, it seems like every character transforms into something different. just look at bodie's character since season 1.
not necessarily. being police and a teacher can be two totally different things.....not to mention alot of those kids are corner boys and they HATE cops.
you can see that the model crown vic that they go to the towers isn't the same model crown vic that was burned! it's an older model crown vic that was burned!

I love the development of Prez throughout the series. The evolution of the character is a testament to how good the writing is.
The depth of these characters is the one thing that separates the Wire from 99% of television programmes.

yea you can really see and understand how all the characters developed and you see why they made the decisions they did

This scene shows that Daniels knows how to lie. Could have some significance to his past in the "good ole Eastern days."

Daniels has a cadence when he speaks....almost like an MC. I wonder if he had any formal traning as an actor.
