Zbikowski and the "Rocket"

1) Rocket > Zibby but its irrelevant...both had some amazing plays at ND - no one ever shows the play Zibby had against MSU when he literally stole the ball from a runner and took it back for 6...loved them both.

2) Tony Roberts and his "Touchdown Irish" calls were awesome and its been a damn shame that ND did not get NBC to bring him over to replace Tom Hammonds years ago. NBC announcers blow chunks.

Tony Roberts and yes he is amazing, but unfortunately the company he worked for didn't think that and canned him a few years ago. He was the voice of the Irish for 20 some years and hes done. Just doesn't feel the same anymore, need to get a petition going or something to get him back!!!!!

Hate to break it to you guys, but The Rocket runs a 220 meter in 26.64 and Zbikowski runs it in 25.97. Zbikowski IS faster. The rocket, in his career at notre dame, set the record for 149 touchdowns. Zbikowski broke it in his junior year and finished senior with 171.

I'm not dissing The Rocket. Him, Zbikowski, Quinn, Samardjiza, and...dare i say it...Montana, are probably the best Notre Dame players in history.

A 40 year old Ismail could beat Zbikowski in a head to head race. There's no way in hell Zbikowski is/was/will ever be faster than Rocket. Hell, I could run faster than Zbikowski...he's slower than crap and got beat on so many plays that I was amazed he was even drafted.

you can give Rocket credit for having breakaway speed, which made him great, but Zibby is equally great because he's a determined runner. on most of his returns, he had to fight thru a pack almost immediately. i don't think you can say either one was greater; they just have different, successful styles.

Tom Zbikowski was an option quarterback in high school, which kind of makes sense when you watch the way he runs back punts, waiting for the coverage to over-correct and then bang, using cutbacks to pick his way through to the end zone. He's a game-breaker.

And the Rocket? It's hard to believe you haven't sped up the film. There's a shot there of a very fast Michigan defender, #20, nearly catching him, but not quite. I'll bet not too many people ever got away from #20 on Michigan.
