Congratulations! You are a truly amazing and inspiring person. I just read a book called The Disease of More which is about food addiction and recovery and I have so much respect for people like you and the author who have overcome this very challenging addiction. You rock!

I think you look great on the raw food lifestyle. But u come off very sad around two years ago i went to a shamen i had what they would call an attachment its when a spirit of this world over takes your body it happens when you are venerable like if you over drank alchol or tuck drugs.I can see alot of sadness in you and i know its not you.Its worth thinking about allthe best in the future
Congrats! I too have switched to a raw vegan diet a dropped 60 lbs and my father also went on a vegan diet and dropped 14o lbs! Food addiction is very tough, food is the simplest pleasure but most difficult to overcome. I wish you the best of luck and make the most of your journey!!
@chedda3d That's amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. Once we get over that hump of food addiction (and it's a big hump), the body knows what to do with the healthy food we feed it and everything falls into balance. I wish you and your father health and happiness. Thanks for watching.
Great to have you on facebook talking about this stuff. I like the fact that, as you said, your story isn't as straight forward as other some other raw foodists, and that you do mess up and you're not perfect. No-ones perfect, we're all going to hit some bumps along the road, and as you said again, we shouldn't feel bad about the fact that we do some time. It's refreshing to see vidoes like this that show the real life experience - both good and bad - of living a raw food lifestyle.Keep it up:)
that's the funny thing about food obsessive people, most days I eat 3-4 pieces of fruit, for lunch a wrap with spinach, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms etc, some tuna, for dinner I have 3-4 veggies with lean meat, supper I have 2 egg omelette with veggies, snacks during the day are nuts & seeds, my vegan friends give me a hard time coz I eat a little meat or eggs, yet they often crash & eat junk food, everyone has to lighten up on food, enjoy life :) there's no need to be a "food natzi" 24/7
@thrivesurvive - yeah I think it's a good selection, as long as we're not living off chips, chocolate & ice-cream we'll be fine, I was watching a video the other day on a lady going raw, she was eating a bean salad & mentioned the beans were from a can, the comments were "your not a true raw food eater" blah blah blah, give me canned beans with a fresh salad any day over french fries, I guess I don't really understand the pedantic nature of the food obsessed human mind?
@destiny6666 Many of people have food issues. I wish I could be like you and my husband, but my body is very sensitive. Food is the foundation for me. If I don't eat just right, my I feel unwell.
I think a lot of people have lost touch with their bodies so they don't notice or choose to ignore symptoms that tell us that the food they are eating is less than ideal. When I don't eat right, my body lets me know. What I eat is the difference between surviving and thriving.
@MeowLizard I trace my addiction back to feeling helpless, like I couldn't control much in life. Thats really hard when you are a teen, because the truth is, you really don't have that much control over what happens to you, food, and what you do with your time. Whenever possible, try to do nice things for yourself so you don't feel you are compromising who you are. I think each time we compromise who we are, we sell a little piece of ourselves. That makes a hole that we try to fill with food.
@lovedbyanimals I remember having diarrhea and gas pressure, but not huge or painful bms. I had loose, urgent stools for the first year or longer of being raw.
@thrivesurvive Oh bummer! When I ate a whole bunch of blue berries last week I had the loose and urgent stools. I swear they were going to fall out of me. I guess I should keep diapers handy for the first year as my diet keeps improving.
you know pigmeat theoretically tastes like human flesh don't you you effing cannibal. and for the record i'm not vegetarian i just don't eat the flesh of the swine.

A they taste awsome. They won't grow visible sprouts.
Thanks for the video and just wanted to say it was great to hear about those who struggle. I tried raw vegan for a while and gave up and thinking about getting serious again. So thanks for sharing your difficulties!!! =) .... Best wishes to you
Thanks so much and thanks for watching. I hope you try again. It should be lot easier this time. The more you read about it, the easier it will be to go vegan. :)
Hello and thank you for your videos. I am doing a juice feast now and I can relate a lot to your thoughts and battles with food. I sometimes stuff myself with chocolate and I get into this mentality like "Well I already was bad today, might as well keep going!" and then I will just eat and eat and eat. Its worse when Im hormonal. lol Sometimes its okay but when I feel I can't control myself I start to feel guilty.
Good for you for doing a juice feast! :) I know exactly what you mean. It's hard to break that guilt cycle. I struggled with it for many years, and sometimes it comes back to haunt me if I am not vigilant. Good luck with your new, healthy lifestyle! ((hugs))
For me, quitting meat was easy, but for others it may take time. I would recommend reading books like "Diet for a New America" by Robbins and "China Study" by Campbell so you have a solid foundation of knowledge to help keep you on track when you get tempted to eat animal products. Once you know and understand the truth about animal products, stopping is just a matter of choice. I wish you health and vitality!
a lot of people think some meat is good for you but it really isn't. To find out why, I suggest you read the China Study first. Of course you may still choose to eat meat, and that's your choice, but at least you will know the truth about the effects of animal products in the body (leaving all ethics aside).
well i know Pork is horrible i never lay a hand on that nasty creature & beef is bad but i thought turkey was OK How ever i wanna quit it all but dont know where to start i have a few packs of slice turkey cuts & i think after i finish that im done with meat but why cant a vegan eat cooked food
The best way to stop eating meat is simply to stop. Most vegans do eat cooked food. RAW vegans don't (or they only eat a little). If you want to be a regular vegan, you can substitute meat with fake meat like soy or something (although they aren't very healthy either). Soy "meat" is healthier than animal meat, but no meat is healthiest. There are many books about going vegan. Most people do it in stages. Some just stop eating animals and never turn back. How you do it and why are up to you.
I had a lot of gas and bloating at first. It took a long time for my system to reset itself from eating cooked food (which had damaged my digestive system). Now I rarely have any issues with it, unless I eat way too much, or poorly combine foods. Before Raw, I would get severe gastritis, which would have me doubled over, screaming, like labor contractions. I don't get that anymore. Now that I am reducing the fats, eating more fruits and greens, and fewer cruciferous plants, my digestion is great
Thanks for posting. I think it is more of the lighting issue than you actually looking tired etc. you probably shot it it in a very low light and also the light source is below your face level, casting more shadows under your eyes.

Thank you very much for watching and for sharing your story. What helped me tremendously was reading. I read as much as I could about raw food nutrition. For me to do anything and stick to it, it has to make sense for me on many levels, particularly on a scientific level. There are many free resources online and if you go on Amazon, you will discover multitudes of books on the subject. There is one by Natalia Rose on transitioning to high raw. It might be a good start for you. ((hugs))
Thank you for the honest video. Appreciate it! I was strong in gs thru oa for years and then went back in a big way to the food. Back in oa, now in a version of how which is more nutritionally sound and also benefitting from a british nutritionist 'you are what you eat' living on veggies and fruit and soy and fish a little bit and some whole raw sprouted grains and some cooked grains and olive oil and beans... instead of loaves of bread and tons of dairy fat I'd eat until I was terribly sick.
I can definitely relate. Forget the douches making stupid comments. I went through similar things when I was very young and used food and weight gain to keep a distance and not be approachable by the opposite sex. I've learned to see though that it only hurt me and my health. Thanks for your words.
I am very sorry you had to suffer so. I am certain you have become a wonderful person as a result of your trials. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I hope things are much better for you now. :) ((hugs))
I am addicted to food and I am not 100 lbs over weight. What do I start to eat when going raw? I mean....I don't know where to begin? Can you give me some info?
I would suggest you begin by eating the raw foods you like best. Most people like fruit and salads. Switch to a raw dressing. You can easily make your own. There are many recipes online. I can't put links here. Green smoothies are excellent. Just blend fruit, dark leafy greens and pure water in a blender until creamy and drink it. I recommend "Green For Life" by Victoria Boutenko. There are tons or green smoothie recipes online, and many videos here to show you how. Check my favorite videos. :)
THANK YOU. Food that is addictive hypnotises the brain into thinking it's good. The truth is on revealed (totally uncovered) when you go raw. Period. Just two weeks does it. We don't need expensive books we just need to try raw! Anyone who is a raw pilgrim will see you as a saint. I admire your eloquence. You're giving comfort. Love you girl.
I completely agree. Sometimes people tell me going raw is too hard or complicated, but It's much easier than any other type of eating. You are right. After just two weeks of 100% raw, it's like that part in the Matrix where he gets unplugged from the machine. Everything changes. I began to live when I went raw. No turning back for me. I'm so glad more people are trying it. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. ((hugs))
Thank you for watching. Have you ever read the Pleasure Trap? It is an excellent book which explains why cravings are so strong. Thank you for watching.
sorry. But the reason that addiction is epidemic all over the world is: the knowledge about addiction is wrong. The method to overcome addictions easyly forever is first presented to millions of people by Allen Carr!! He explains how addiction works and how to become conscious there s a better way of live you ve been missin out because of Fear. Fear that is caused by the addictive food or drug itself. You have to really become conscious about every aspect of stupidness and the glory alternative!
I love you, you have to be the most honest person on you tube. In my opinion your a really strong person, and your doing something A LOT of people wouldn't dream of being strong enough to do...like this cheeseburger person LOL
This is exactly what my raw vegan nutritionist tells me, she always says that if I'm going crazy wanting something at a certain point to just have it, because restricting yourself to the extent that you hate yourself when you mess up is never healthy and leads to more of a disordered mindset than wanting to be healthy. It's great to hear another raw vegan say that :)
mayisnatural, I agree. There is a balance between intuitive eating and self control, which can be hard to find if you have issues with food, but I think I have finally found my way. :) I am glad you have a smart nutritionist.
I wanted to say a huge thank you for making this video. I have embarked on a green smoothie feast but have stumbled so many times. This weekend was the worst. I needed to hear the words you spoke. They not only resonated with me, but they gave me a sense of relief. Thank you, so, very much.
Thank you so much! I am still struggling to get back to normal after my juice feast. I think the juice feast reset be back to square one, before i went raw. I expected it to do the opposite, but I have been struggling as much or worse than i did when I first transitioned to raw over a year ago. I hope to see videos of your green smoothie feast. I may do that next.
You're welcome Alexis, you deserve it! I acknowledge your willingness to be vulnerable and to be open with sharing your "personal" life.
To get a sense of who I am just "click" on my profile name (rawkitchen). I have a couple videos of preparing some raw food, a trip to a raw cafe, and me playing a raw food guitar song!
By the way, do you live in the United States? Just curious, thanks and bliss on!
Alexis, I am so glad I finally had a moment to watch your videos! What an inspiring person you are- thank you for your candidness and honesty. I definitely am taking in what you shared. God Bless You ~Angel~
Heating food past about 115' F kills all of the enzymes and many of the nutrients. It also caused chemical changes that turn foods into substances the body cannot recognize or use. Plat derived fats, for example, are extremely healthy when raw, but once cooked, they become very unhealthy and detrimental. If you are interested, there are many excellent books and web sites on the subject.
Are you really? There are raw foodists that eat raw meat. Personally, I couldn't stomach the idea of eating raw meat, but if it works for you, that's great.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching. I'm so excited you have decided to go raw. In my opinion, it's one of the very best things anyone could do for themselves. Please keep me posted on your raw adventure. :)
You are an inspiration and awesome. I have a very hard time dealing with the holidays too. I am on day 3 of my raw vegan journey. I hope you do more videos and continue to inspire. (((hugs)))
Do you ever smile?

Okay, serious question: what's wrong with cooking food? What's the rationale behind the restriction on heating things?
devourerofbabies 4 years ago
Heating food past about 115' F kills all of the enzymes and many of the nutrients. It also caused chemical changes that turn foods into substances the body cannot recognize or use. Plat derived fats, for example, are extremely healthy when raw, but once cooked, they become very unhealthy and detrimental. If you are interested, there are many excellent books and web sites on the subject.

I went raw too, but I'm a meat-a-tarian.
devourerofbabies 4 years ago
Are you really? There are raw foodists that eat raw meat. Personally, I couldn't stomach the idea of eating raw meat, but if it works for you, that's great.
thrivesurvive 4 years ago
No, I was just teasing. I don't eat raw meat. Except for sushi. And I like my steaks on the ridiculously rare side. But that's it.
devourerofbabies 4 years ago
I knew you were teasing, silly. :) I used to eat my babies raw.

Thank you so much and thank you for watching. I'm so excited you have decided to go raw. In my opinion, it's one of the very best things anyone could do for themselves. Please keep me posted on your raw adventure. :)
