Yeah, it's still sad to see the great Carly Simon at some Starbucks in Crackerville. I hope she was having a good time. She was probably thinking about what she would do when she got out of there. And, as it turned out, her deal with Starbucks ended badly. Her heart was not in it but, hey, we all have to make a living.
Hey!!!
Carly is one of those famous people that can still make public appearances and do things like this as well as go places without a swarm of people and cameras in her face. In other words, she isn't too famous like Mick Jagger or Elton John who have to have security people virtually everywhere they go.
I like this, Carly is obviously enjoying herself - that does not necessarily mean she is enjoying the buffoons in the audience. But who cares about them and their lack of respect or manners?
Fabulous rendition Carly. It is fresh and spontaneous.
Yeah - Carly is SUING Starbucks for not properly promoting her album - and I hope she wins big. This is SO disheartening to see - because she is one of the greats of all time and it just reinforces how sick the music business is -- YIKES>
@majorcynic don't get me wrong, I have LOVED Carly..she was my best form of therapy as a kid, but her voice is awful....she's not even singing the melody of her own song..and gravoling.. I have to simply say, no wonder Starbucks didn't promote this..their stock price would surely drop based on our dear Mz. Simon...
First of all, this doesn't make sense. What are you trying to say? That Alice Cooper and Cher are better (I'm assuming that "roles" is a typo for "rules") than Carly Simon? That's fair, you're entitled to your own opinion. But considering this is the second time you comment on this video, I think Carly Simon must be doing something right.
How sad. She must have been wondering what the fuck she was doing there. It makes sad to see this great artist treated like a trained dog. Fuck Starbucks. They disbanded the label anyway. I bet Carly doesn't do this again. To have to subject herself to the riff raff hooping and hollering in the background. And in Miami? What a trashy place. The least they could have done would have been to have wheeled her out in Atlantic City or Toledo or some other equally crappy place
@ghanick She does'nt need thousands of people cheering for her at $200 a seat for her to sing. Still down to earth after all these years and fame. She's having fun and giving a few fans a memory they can cherish forever. Find a clip of Beyonce doing that.
imon scored the biggest success of her career with the classic 1972 global smash "You're So Vain". It hit #1 on the US Pop and Adult Contemporary charts and sold nearly two million 45 rpm vinyl records in the United States alone. It was one of the decade's biggest hits and propelled Carly's breakthrough album No Secrets to #1 on the US album charts—and to Platinum status. "You're So Vain" received Grammy Award nominations for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance,
Hate to see such a superstar singing in the twilight of her career at a Starbucks. A Grammy winner at a Starbucks. Some of the other live "You're So Vain" vids on YouTube are more of how I want to think of her.
"Hate to see such a superstar singing in the twilight of her career at a Starbucks"
You are a complete ignoramus. This is NOT a bad thing as Starbucks has their own music label and they also signed other big names such as Paul McCartney.
Neither one of these people need the money but they decided not to turn down MILLIONS of dollars for singing a few songs.
If you're going to post comments this stupid you deserve to be insulted like the complete moron that you obviously are.
You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. There is no more Starbucks. They got washed out; who is the next behemoth to rape and pillage the music industry -- WalMart? Target? Home Depot? Corporate America has destroyed music. It's bullshit. Listen to Carly's voice -- she's telling them to fuck off. She took the money and ran.
ghanic, every comment you make has a good portion of elemental truth in it, but you destroy your own message by your rancid attitude
its really a shame because i WANT to agree with you, but you are so embarrassing for your own vantage point that i dont really want to be connected with that what i believe in
she performed this version of the song on howard stern during the summer and i think it is way better than the original arrangement. does anyone know where this version is available?
I'll sing for coffee and donuts!

Carly made some classic songs, but she should be on an oldies circuit.
And the plastic face and teeth should just fade into obscurity.
She made some really great music and was really beautiful in her time. But her time has passed.

Hey Carly: the second chord of your song's chorus is Dm, not F.
But you still look fabulous.
