We forget that the vast majority of people don't have access to electricity, clean water, free schools and many of the opportunities and freedoms that we take for granted. I didn't start to find it bizarre until it popped up in my adulthood, tucked halfway underneath a friend's sofa.
Went and bought a copy with my last $7, and it changed my life. Imagine what would have happened if I had read that book at 11. LOL
A very well spoken and positive philosophy. While I agree on many points, It is apparent that not everyone is rewarded for their hard work. A person can toil all their life and accomplish little in their community, whereas a privileged individual from birth may be able to accomplish far more by virtue of being born into wealth. I know this isn't a hard and fast rule in a free society, but it is the other side of this argument.

One is thinking of getting to a state, and the other is thinking of BEING in a state. And while the first person is thinking of getting there, he is actually IN the very place he is imagining... And will never get there, unless he changes his mind.
So which is it? "The progressive realization of a worthy goal" or "when opportunity meets preparedness? Earl is such a great motivator. Only after I listen to him do I find myself feeling what he describes as "constructive discontent". It's one thing to be unhappy but another thing to be unhappy knowing there is something you can do about it if you put your mind to it.
Ever heard of "Commander" Mark Kistler? I grew up with his "Secret City" show on PBS and a big thick "Draw Squad" book, both of which help kids learn to draw (among other things). I recently bought the same book for my nephew's birthday and noticed a reference to this recording buried in one of his illustrations. So I looked it up and was pleased with the message. Fabulous! Everything he say's in here is absolutely true. It has been taught by many teachers from the beginning of time, just as he alludes to. It is a bit silly to get caught up in his use of the word man... he is coming from a very different world. I find that finding the information that works for me is a lot more useful than dwelling on what triggers me.
I see there are many who would prefer to create a way out before they even begin. Examples of fear. For those of us that have determined that we will push through our fears rather than be enslaved to them, we know these truths to be so. Not sure? I try to listen to this every day. While I give myself my own motives, I found this after I realized my thoughts, and it matches up so well, which is nice.
Every day, I work towards at least two types of success/excellence. I work towards bettering myself, and becoming excellent to the best of my abilities in mind, body, soul. On the other side, I work towards my dream job.

I've listened to this dozens of times and find it more and more valuable every time I listen. It is surprising that there are so little views (140,130 at this time). It just goes to show you the proportion of people who think compared to the proportion of people who don't. Only 5% are successful, so about 100,000 views makes sense (highly viewed YouTube clips are in the 1 - 2 million range). Thanks again, D.
Yes. I concurred with your comment. At times I am perplexed on some youtube clips which generate millions of views in such a short period of time. The content of these clips are infantile, of cheap sexual nature or refers tonsome kind of show biz gossip. I am not stating that they should not generate millions of views but the proportion should be balanced, i..e Clips like Earl Nightingale should also have the millions of views. There is an imbalance in man's thinking....
Yeah his message is great. It seems to go stale at times for me though. Also, his wording isn't as impact-full as I would like at times.. "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.
I changed that to, "A success is anyone who is taking action to bring into existence their thought-out vision of excellence."
It makes just makes more sense to me; especially because I cannot forget that an ideal really is your mind's "eye's and ears of the sensations of your future."

If you liked Earl's stuff, you'll love Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich and better yet, Brian Kim's Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich. Like genpatton said, the only secrets you really need to know to succeed.
There are a lot of problems though, because the social construct takes GREAT PAINS to make sure that they are not going to STIFLE individuality and progress.
I love secrets, especially this one - so simple, yet so powerful.
Not a big fan of the secret LOA thing though - too new agey.
The secret Napoleon Hill mentioned in Think and Grow Rich is another good one too. Brian Kim really explains it well in The Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich using the clues Hill provided. It's much more logical.
IMO, Earl and Hill's secrets are the only ones you need to know to succeed.
Actually, Napoleon Hill was the first one to speak of the LOA in mainstream. He actually used the term "Law Of Attraction" in his first book, "The Law Of Success In Sixteen Lessons." He didn't mention it in Think & Grow Rich. You would have to read The Law Of Success to see how Earl Nightingale's Secret and how what Brian Kim mentioned ties into the LOA.
One thoughts go out to the Universe, we become what we THINK ABOUT, I would say yes, because I spend all my time on something, trying to get it, but then again I have not met my soulmate, and I have done a lot of thinking about that, is it true then, no, and a lot can contest to it, What goal do we really want in life, most of us want money and lots of it,

Only after I listen to him do I find myself feeling what he describes as "constructive discontent". It's one thing to be unhappy but another thing to be unhappy knowing there is something you can do about it if you put your mind to it.

Ever heard of "Commander" Mark Kistler? I grew up with his "Secret City" show on PBS and a big thick "Draw Squad" book, both of which help kids learn to draw (among other things). I recently bought the same book for my nephew's birthday and noticed a reference to this recording buried in one of his illustrations. So I looked it up and was pleased with the message. Fabulous! Everything he say's in here is absolutely true. It has been taught by many teachers from the beginning of time, just as he alludes to. It is a bit silly to get caught up in his use of the word man... he is coming from a very different world. I find that finding the information that works for me is a lot more useful than dwelling on what triggers me.

@darrenkis I actually agree. I'm not particularly Christian or anything, I'm just so used to living in a Christian house I end up saying things like "God bless you!". That said, I don't think I've ever said something like "God will send you to Hell!" to anyone. I've just never met anyone that bad to think that they would have a chance for "eternal punishment". That's what I dislike, all of the crap in this world and bad things, and people being raised on the wrong beliefs... What God does that?

It was a reflection of their basic attitude to commit to things early and stick with them. Doesn't matter what industry they worked in or what job they did, male or female.

This doesn't refute the video or ideas of Nightengale in any way, but its off-putting to hear him quote the "Stalinistic" George Bernard Shaw who openly believed in eugenics, killing citizens("humanely" such as with a gas that causes death w/out suffering)& believed ppl should evry 5-7 yrs have to prove their worthiness to live & if couldnt prove it then be executed. Shaw is entitled to his opinion, but seems like murder of non-criminals, & I wouldnt trust govt to have license to do this.

i totally agree with offshore. it really is as simple a that. i think the question is, do you have the willpower/courage to drop what you think you know, and realise that you know very little on the greater scale of things, if anything. you see, life isn't complicated. we just made it that way, and what we should all try to do, is seperate ourselves from conformity to a degree. we need to be in touch with what we were intended to be, not be sheeple.

I've listened to this dozens of times and find it more and more valuable every time I listen. It is surprising that there are so little views (140,130 at this time). It just goes to show you the proportion of people who think compared to the proportion of people who don't. Only 5% are successful, so about 100,000 views makes sense (highly viewed YouTube clips are in the 1 - 2 million range). Thanks again, D.

Yes. I concurred with your comment. At times I am perplexed on some youtube clips which generate millions of views in such a short period of time. The content of these clips are infantile, of cheap sexual nature or refers tonsome kind of show biz gossip. I am not stating that they should not generate millions of views but the proportion should be balanced, i..e Clips like Earl Nightingale should also have the millions of views. There is an imbalance in man's thinking....

Yeah his message is great. It seems to go stale at times for me though. Also, his wording isn't as impact-full as I would like at times.. "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.
I changed that to, "A success is anyone who is taking action to bring into existence their thought-out vision of excellence."
It makes just makes more sense to me; especially because I cannot forget that an ideal really is your mind's "eye's and ears of the sensations of your future."

I love secrets, especially this one - so simple, yet so powerful.
Not a big fan of the secret LOA thing though - too new agey.
The secret Napoleon Hill mentioned in Think and Grow Rich is another good one too. Brian Kim really explains it well in The Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich using the clues Hill provided. It's much more logical.
IMO, Earl and Hill's secrets are the only ones you need to know to succeed.

Actually, Napoleon Hill was the first one to speak of the LOA in mainstream. He actually used the term "Law Of Attraction" in his first book, "The Law Of Success In Sixteen Lessons." He didn't mention it in Think & Grow Rich. You would have to read The Law Of Success to see how Earl Nightingale's Secret and how what Brian Kim mentioned ties into the LOA.
