  • And yet 40 years later we are stuck in the same exact situation.

  • Shirley MacLaine: intelligent, multi-talented woman.

  • Dick Cavett is awesome, Im only 27 years old but I love watching older Tom Snyder "Tommorow Show" clips and "Dick Cavett Show" clips, IMO the only show nowadays that has such fantastically entertaining interviews is Charlie Rose but he's not as great as he was.

  • The issues she speaks of is the same issues we are still dealing with in the year 2011. When will things get better? How can we change it? How can we get back to a more peaceful centered lifestyle?

  • Beautifully smart...I could listen and debate with her all day long.

  • Wonder if she had as many men as her brother had women?

  • @EffLabels apparently yes

  • Liberalism isnt intellectual!!!

  • @thebig1 in 2008 she said that during Bush administration "we found ourselves in the throes of Socialism"

  • @xaviqaz just shows how much of a dope she is

  • @thebig1 Our forefathers and Jesus Christ - all Liberals - are insulted by your comment.

  • @thebig1 Republicanism certainly isn't either. Lets see, most republicans support homophobia, anti-secularism and an insane foreign policy. Hmm, yeah, that is really intelligent!

  • of course an honest person could govern IF ever elected...

  • Hah! Sirens.

  • Who's the candidate? can't read the buttons.

  • MY MOMMA SAYS OBAMA!

  • she is such a cutie and very intelligent, i'm in love :]

  • she IS intelligent.

  • she IS intelligent.

  • Dick Cavett is one of the most boring individuals on the planet. Every segement I see from his show is total bore.

He manages to take interesting figures like Lennon, Joplin and MacLaine and turn their appearences into snooze fests.

  • @PawtucketPatriot66

For some, like myself, Cavett was simply the BEST.

What a joy to have him consistently bring intelligence to the audience without showbiz blather. Some may find it boring, but I see his really TALKING with people the best, most intimate way to get insights into them.

  • I love Shirley MacLaine. Thanks for posting this.

  • Gorgeous, well spoken, intelligent ... Warren would have surely nailed her save for the blood-line. Who'd have thought she'd have regressed to a blathering cadet a dozen yrs. later ..... but I love her here--

  • she's so totally adorable here and very intelligent

  • They sure don't make 'em like they used to.

Now it's all about ego, political correctness and treating people like sh@t when there's no cameras around.

  • she has the most beautiful eyes

  • An honest person can't win, if you're running against Nixon.

  • Marvelously intelligent

  • Damn. She was a foxy intellectual.

  • No she was an intellectual fox who climbed trees and got out on limbs she couldn't get down from.

  • Agreed!!

  • @Kaimosae

    SHE IS A FOXY INTELLECTUAL.

  • Shirley has beautiful skin.

  • She's very articulate

  • when i finish my time machine i'm going back and marrying her

  • Be Sure To Take Me With You I Have An Engagement Ring With Marilyn Monroe's Name On It

  • Be sure to take me along with you! I would marry Shirley Maclaine in a second. Don't worry though, I would invite your good self to the wedding. I don't know about letting you kiss the bride though. I might be alittle busy in that department. :o) She sort of looks like a country singer in this interview. With the hair and all.

  • Yeah she kinda has the Loretta Lynn thing going but that was the style then.

  • Had to go back to see what you were on about, as my comment was 9 months ago. LOL. I had no idea who Loretta Lynn was, but thank's to the magic of ye old internet, I now do. I'm not completely ignorant of country music you'll be pleased to know. But it is sort of limited to Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson I'm afraid. Well ta for the comment and hope all is going well for you. :o)o:

  • I'm actually about the same. I detest country music accept for some really good classics How can you not know who Loretta Lynn is though?? " The Coal miner's daughter" with Sissy Spacek. Well, she was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw her with this harido..lol..cheers!

  • Great interesting clip. Thanks for posting.

  • Had I been old enough to vote in 1972, (I was only 3 years old then) I would have enthusiastically voted for George McGovern. The more I learn about him, the more he's becoming a real life hero to me.

By the way, seeing this clip produced a funny response from me in an embarrassed smile. I remember when I was a little boy in the 70's, I had a little bit of a crush on Dick Cavett. I must have picked up on his warm vibes, even back then.

  • @Liberal1969 Madam, you are an IDIOT.

  • @DNSKansas .. really, you think HE'S the idiot?... if you bothered to actually read HIS comment, you would have seen that HE said HE was 'a little boy'.... and you called HIM a 'Madam'... WOW.. you're stupid.

  • Interesting, thanks.

  • Even in her own life as a person she is so changeable from one season of her life to another. I would not have recognized her! And then of course her different acting roles she is just like a completely different person. She is so amazing! Thanks for posting this video!

  • i luv her hair

  • HOW TIMELY. We have one honest Presidential candidate now and one who isn't. I pray to god that whoever is reading this is able to tell the difference. Whether or not America survives may depend on it.

  • Your honest candidate just signed FISA, a fascist piece of legislation if ever there was one. Not only did he say he would not support this law late last year, but he said he would fillibuster against it, meaning he would delay the bill as much as possible with debate. Now he's voted for cloture which stops all fillibustering. The exact opposite of what he said he would do. He's showing his true colors now that he has the nomination.

    And no I'm not a republican, I'm a libertarian.

  • @maryquant1967 - It's one thing to be honest, and it's another to have a person attached to it.

  • Shirley's words are still so relevant today! This is great! 5 STARS!!

  • Cavett loses it when Maclaine compliments him. What she says is so true.

  • woah, shirley looks sooo different.

  • I think your being negative to someone who is being more honest. You can't except the fact there has never been a fair election and that the President is pre selected.

  • Thnks for this interview, a keeper for sure. Shirley has had a real depth of perception to share for a long time, hopefully, people keep listening. Those on the path will, others don't want to open up to anything other than what they think they know, like we are the only ones in the universe. Actually, why do those that know that we are not alone seem crazy, for it seems to think in this limitless universe that we are the only ones is the crazy persumption.

  • i like what she's wearing

    and her hair is awesome

i've always been interested in what shirl has to say she's very intriguing

  • Why can't she say McGovern's name?

  • It may have to do with equal TV time during a campaign.

  • Equal time, yes. It's the same reason Schwarzenegger films weren't shown on television during his gubernatorial campaigns.

  • First saw this series in P. J. O'Rourke's book All the Trouble in the World from 1994--he described these as increments on a Sillymeter: S, VS, ES and SML

  • & you my friend qualify for extremely narrow minded, & unable to consider anything outside the box you are being spoon fed. Have a nice life full of marching to someone else's program.

  • INFJ?

  • Thanks for posting this! Great!

  • She is an unbeliveable amazing person!!!
