Insane technical ability/"shredding" can be just as emotive and expressive as the most "soulful" of players. That's Fernando Miyata, and he's in fact an astounding guitarist. I love players like Wes Montgomery and Alan Holdsworth, but as a guitarist, or even if you aren't, remember that his playing is his own expression of feeling - insane speed doesn't = bad playing.
