This song is describing a sunset in the middle of nowhere (in the desert) and probably under the influece of something. Plant describes it very poetically. He is describing not only a place, but also an special moment wich to me seams like, a metaphore for the Apocalypse!^^

I have the DVD of this concert, and it's wonderful. But there are several reasons that the performance of 'Kashmir' works in this context. First, the song was written with obvious eastern influences and taking it 'back' to the place of its origins brings it back to its touchstone and gives it new life.
