Sorry, but this is NOT better than the original. I've just been listening to covers of "Save a Prayer", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Rio" and "New Religion" from the Duran Duran Tribute Album and they're all fucking awful, including this one. Well, compared to the original it's awful. I guess it's okay if you're into this sort of music.

Nah, ska is Jamaica's first form of music. Raggae is a spin-off. Ska was made in the early fifties, the second wave of ska was when it was combined with British Punk. Were in the third wave right now, with stuff like Reel Big FIsh and Sublime and Strretlight Manifesto...etc.

SO three waves

1) Ska was created in Jamaica, it was simple, and focussed mainly on the horns

2) The British took ska and combined it with punk

3) It evolved into a sort of pop/punk, as pretty much all punk did.
