  • there are literally billions of amazing gametypes out there, and 343 can't even put some of them on. only a tiny bit is included in action sack, but they are not as good as the best out there.

  • Your point seems stupid. You go on to say that firefight arcade has no survival difficulty when the whole point of arcade is to have fun with your arcade attributes(inf ammo and lives). Just go play doubles.

  • You guys are really getting harsh with those comments. And Arcadefight seems to have a low population when there aren't Firefight challenges. Coincidence? I doubt it. And unlike other people complaining, he made an awesome survival gametype as well. If you do some searching, he made a complete playlist proposal as well with a ton of gametypes in them as well.

  • And for two, you have an OS and an unlimited rocket launcher. Why are you expecting anything from a playlist that supplies you with that? Go play match making and see if you return the same results.

  • Firefight is only supreme in ODST. Reach's firefight has only caused a mass ban across the community and is nothing more than grinding.

  • I look at FireFight in Halo reach as a challenge for myself to get the highest single score possible, which ofc isn't hard to get when every1 quits out and u just use a rocket or FRG ect but im thinking more sniperfight, or firefight arcade using the sniper rifle because if every1 quits out while using the rifle, u will just get overrun and not get a very high score. So that's where the challenge comes for me, then if im not in the mood, I just have fun blasting everything with a rocket laucher.

  • What I find most irritating is that Banshees only count as vehicle kills if destroyed with an explosive. They make challenges specifically requiring vehicle kills and on their newest map they still don't fix that shit.

  • @skunkpirates That was the excuse. But really they ran out of playlist space because of Anniversary and didn't spend any dev time on revamping the lists.

  • I think its still fun. I don't play firefight much anyway, but when I do I have a ton of fun. Me and a buddy played Installation 4 the other day and we had a blast.

  • @AmericanGamersGroup Under Bungie you could play FF Limited with 3 other people where overkills were actually accomplishments. Under 343i, you cannot.

    1 - I think Halo 4 will be good, but won't stand up to Bungie's level so Halo 4 will be 343's funeral.

  • I totally agree. Sure Arcade gives more cR, but where's the variety? I loved ODST firefight because every weapon is in a sense useful, & you just gotta know when & how to use them efficiently, especially when the skulls make it harder for your favored weapons.

  • I think why they did it and only why is the lag. When I try to play it I have mass lag but I can do challanges no problem.

  • I totally agree. As a huge fan of ODST firefight, I loved the thrill of the survival aspect of ODST Firefight. I have found arcadefight to be lacking fun. The only enjoyment I can get from it is furthering my commendations, but there is no fun or excitement. You said it clearly, "What kind of game gives you infinite ammo, all power weapons, and infinite lives." None that can be considered fun. It is just a novelty that has been extended because of the credit bonuses.

  • I agree that there needs to be more challenging firefight modes... ODST firefight was intense as FUCKK, firefight in Reach is pure fun for a while but I'd love to have that intensity again.

  • I don't understand the complaints you are using aren't just to do with 343i arcade is just as easy as it was when bungie controlled everything I'm not saying i like it I don't play Reach cos the campaign and multiplayer is horrible compared to any of the other games. But it's not like 343 changed the firefight at all they took down a playlist because they wanted to create a new playlist so taking out the least popular makes perfect sense. I would be complaining about 343i rather than bungie

  • @chocostarf That's part of the point though: 343i haven't brought anything new or improved to firefight. They duplicated an existing playlist and removed another one - it's demonstrably worse than when Bungie controlled it.

    In the video, you claimed that FIREFIGHT LIMITED was removed to "make room" for the ANNIVERSARY FIREFIGHT. This is completely false. They did it due to the such small player base within the playlist. That is the Reach population's fault; they enjoy Arcadefight more.

  • @MFROG5 I know what I'm talking about: There is a hard limit of 25 playlists. They killed limited to make room for a firefight playlists that anniversary owners could access. The reason they picked limited to die was because it was the least played yes, but the reason it's the least played is not because people don't necessarily enjoy it, it was because they could earn more credits, more quickly, in Arcade.

  • I play Arcade Fight for the medals, cause getting medals like INVINCIBLE in it aren't so hard, if you play for the fun in Arcade fight on Halo CEA, I would suggest Fistfight which I find incredibly fun..

    Anyway I think your stupid for not wanting Arcadefight, it's extremely effective to level up the commendations..

    Getting an invincible in this playlist isn't even remotely impressive or rewarding. In the video I could have gotten 2 if I had actually died at some point.

    And erm, fistfight... how many times does it get voted for? And you realise you get far less commendations from using those types of weapons right?

  • @MasterRC Commendations MAY seem stupid to you, but you still cannot deny the fact that they are EXTREMELY effective to level them up, also, I know Invincibles aren't impressive in Arcadefight, but its not like people can see you acquired them in other playlists then Arcadefight so they might no always know.

    But your right, Fistfight is never voted which sucks, I find it very fun, but people seem mostly to care about competitiveness..

  • Rocketfight is a to easy, but i do find you were a tad overkill with the sarcasm in this video lol... And for everyone who says "Why are you complaining that it's easy and you are doing good!"... So why don't we just make a game where we are invincible and just kill hunters one hit... It gets boring fast. I'd like to see an attack/defend firefight... I dunno if they have it, but like one where the covenant have to grab a flag from your base or something, that is if the AI is smart enough.

  • Anniversary Firefight uses the SAME EXACT engine as Halo: Reach ArcadeFight, so obviously they are going to play the same

  • @cowsaysmoo51 MLG's playlist uses the same multiplayer engine. But doesn't play the same as most of MM.

    Point is the customisation options are there: and none of them are being used.

  • I get what you mean. I havn't played halo reach in awhile, and even when i was playing i wasn't playing firefight because it was just to easy. It's kind of the eqivilant of going through the campaign on the hardest difficulty and not being able to die its like well that was such and achievement.

  • Why is Co-Op Campaign, and Firefight always has slight lag delay. Does it not just pick a player as host just as matchmaking does? Why is it different, and laggy... Is it because of the AI's?

  • @wheresmyrematch It's because of the AI's yes. It's a very strict simulation in Firefight so the AIs don't get out of sync. This means it's less tolerant to high ping than MP is.

  • Ok so. I am rather mediocre at Halo. Always have been. I suppose if I had your skill level, I'd be bored too. But truth be told, most halo players are my skill level or worse. I average about 35k in FF arcade and I usually die a ton. I hated FF Limited because I simply always ran out of lives and never scored high at all. I agree that Arcade FF alone gets boring but the daily challenges help with that as it forces you to use difference weapons or to change your play.

  • The gametype that you have provided does present a learning curve and a good chance to lose(i've downloaded it). Of course I got sacked when I played Legendary, but the bonus wave when I played Normal it was better than the crap currently in matchmaking. At least it doesn't make you feel like you can blind rush the enemies and not lose. That I don't like about Arcade.

    I have not yet completed a solo campaign of the game yet. Usually I play Co-op with a buddy.

    Second, it's far too easy to do well in arcade that the fun factor is dramatically reduced compared to a gametype where the enemies actually put up a fight.

    Third, custom games aren't the issue: I want the benefits that matchmaking brings like scoreboards and automatic teammates and credits.

    Fourth, issue is that not everyone IS having fun.

  • I would be interested in seeing you (and your buddies?) score attack your FF Survival gametype on Unearthed. I really want to see a good player play the (only?) map that was designed for firefight, with the settings that was designed for the true firefight experience.

  • RC you forgot to mention how firefight versus never came out too ;) I stopped playing halo because of the eay mode factor,huge grenade splash armor locking noobs and sprint double punch kills. Firefight was never fun in reach after arcade. ODST firefight was great. I would team up with strangers and friends, and go play using tactics, calling out dangerous foes, conserving good ammo, using team work. Now you compete for credits, its a selffish game, not a team game. I miss Halo as it was...

    I want Firefight Doubles: Unlimited and I would love 343i

    What would be the best, would be if they made Firefight Customs worth the same as Firefight Matchmaking, but only if you certain settings. (Such as you have to be on Heroic or harder, no more than overshield, no rocketspawns, no invincibility etc.) That would be awesome

  • Fact: ODST Firefight was extremely fun on Legendary. No ammo caches, unlimited ammo, re-chargeable overshields. Reach Firefight makes me want to gouge my eyes out before I'm even done playing one game. It's been months and month's since I've ever searched for back-to-back games because of insanely terrible it is.

  • @MasterRC Cool, I like those gametypes to play offline. I liked to have seen more FireFight(FF) modes at my first months of XBL. I am thoroughly dissapointed with the gametype variety now. I agree with this rant(Where's did flexiblity in FF go 343i?)... Mostly to expand and for more playing playlists. +1 Thumbs up.

    I forgot is Anniversary also on Halo CEA? I already have Halo 2001 and don't intend to get the new one at $40 that's way to overpriced.(same as Defiant and Noble map packs)

  • Agree with rant. MM caters to all range of players, from no0b to MLG with separate playlists. FF caters to no0b and...casual? The credit system never proportionately credited limited FF matches for no deaths...only medals/combos/etc (limited meaning limited number of lives). Getting stuck in FF limited with a clown who seems determined to burn through all 10 lives as quickly as possible was too common as well.

  • @FalcoAcePilot32 I've tried to do that in the past, and what ends up happening is that I get a small handful of kills while the rest are blast away by my teammates in second flat.

    That doesn't end up being very fun...

  • @MasterRC yeah ur right....but not if u play doubles then there is only one other guy and he cant steel all ur kills (I usually play someone I know and he does the same thing as I so its lots of fun....)

  • I disagree with you. For one, you imagine that the multiplayer FF should be hard, and the gametypes (most of them) are not designed for that, they are designed to be easy and basically make the player overpowered (and many people find that fun). I still think online survival will never work that well, you'll always have tone of AFKers, people quitting since the game takes too long and generally not cooperating, which is pretty vital. That's why playing with friends, like in ODST, is still best.

  • @MyDreamCrusher I never said FF should be universally hard (so please don't put words in my mouth), I'm complaining that the ONLY way to experience FF in MM is ridiculously easy.

    I'd like to point you do three other games: Gears of War, Call of Duty and Left for Dead. All three have co-operative survival type gametypes, all three work and, from what I hear, are very popular.

    If people just want to blast enemies, and to hell with teammates, play a custom game? Oh wait, credits.

  • I think ODST's Firefight was actually better than Reach Firefight, apart from the health packs.

    And the ODST pistol and SMG were awesome.

    (Sadly, ODST the game utterly blows. Argh.)

  • @w0mblemania It wasn't better, not by any stretch of the imagination. The online gametypes are catered towards a different crowd, but if you want survival like in ODST you can always make a gametype yourself and play it with friends (just like in ODST where you didn't have online). Even better, the customization, maps and AI in Reach are greatly improved, and you can basically make a gametype with whatever rules you want, and you're not forced to play a predetermined game mod.

  • @TobyStartz Create a custom gametype? You can use the same argument in regards to the Arcade gametypes which do exist in MM today - and you don't need teammates to be successful in them.

    What if my friends aren't online? Or don't want to play FF? The WHOLE POINT of MM is to match you with players that are interested in playing things like you automatically.

  • @MasterRC Yes, if your friends aren't online or don't want to play, there's nothing you can do. But I was replying to the guy that said ODSTs firefight is better. ODST was only played solo or with friends since it didn't have online. You can do the same thing in Reach if you want to play survival, just set it up yourself, and with the customization you can make it as hard or as easy as you want to and you are not forced to play something predetermined that you may not like (ODSTs).

  • @TobyStartz Oh, I think Reach is a far superior game. But I just liked the ODST's Firefight a LOT more; thought the maps were superior for it, particularly when it came to vehicle combat in big spaces.

    It's nowhere near as stable in Reach Firefight as it was in ODST Firefight. I live in Australia, and not only does matchmaking constantly hook me up with Americans (making the game unplayable), but even when it does find other Australians, its very nasty to play.

    Whereas I have MUCH smoother Firefight matches in ODST, lag-stall, wise.

  • I loved the original ce physics engine. It was just madness. I realized that they didn't have enough time, but they could have made vehicles indestructible and scorpions on timberlands. Yeah, and I agree that firefight is boring as hell

  • I think it all comes back to the shitty leveling system of reach where everybody wants credits and to level up. U get so many damn credits from firefight arcade it's ridiculous.

    I am interested in seeing what you think is good campaign level design and how you would like to see it done in Halo 4. But W/E, just talk that is not 100% focused on the gameplay at hand is amazing.

  • Well most of the people in Reach play Living Dead and SWAT. So the majority of Reach players SUCK and will probably think this is amazing.

  • I agree. I do enjoy going into FF occasionally and killing everything that moves, friendly or foe, but there does need to be a challenge. Limited had that, even though I only played it once.

    Hell, I have a FF gametype that I made when I was bored, and all you do is kill hunters by pushing the off cliffs, since they're damn near invincible. It's kinda fun.

    Also, I think I know why you enjoyed Limited so much. You are, IMO, crazy for willingly playing anything like Mythic runs.

  • I would say if firefighter doesn't feel challenging, than it's more about your style of play than the game itself. Of course infinite rockets is ready, but try surviving all three rounds with just a pistol and needler. Much more challenging and entertaining.

  • @Sixftdwarf42 Sure you can introduce honour-rules to make it harder, but I'm more a 'use whatever is available' kinda guy. I find it more interesting to have the rules enforced and trying to succeed under them, rather than just saying I won't do this or that to make it harder.

  • Personally i have hated ff since they chanced the original, which was where your only "power" weapon in start was the grenade launcher. That was fun, and i always got top score. Sometimes it was snipers and it was fun too. Now we got this awful overshield ff where in every game there is some guy using fuel rod or rockets to kill everything ;/

  • I agree, that FF had devolved into Score Attack, or Arcade Fight but they do work the way they are supposed to. Most people either lack the skill required to enjoy Limited, or, as is the case with me, do not pick Limited simply because they experience too much lag to possibly survive. Does the same thing in campaign too. I was just playing on Pillar of Autumn Legendary (Anniv.) and (I shit you not) it was lagging so badly that we spent 30 seconds just trying to get through an open doorway

  • If they brought F.F.limited back that would solve it a bit for us but remember they're targeting the next generation 4 Halo 4 . Reach unfortunately is probably a small part of what 343 wants 2 do, they going 2 try 2 make a whole new Halo, I think they could just expand on what's now rather than starting all over 2 make their stake I.D.K.Take Care Rottie Note: the cheapest Population just wants to Rank up to finish the system.

  • I just played a game, massive lag, got disconnected, got 251 kills and 3 challenges. They need to change more things for me to enjoy it.

  • Hi RC, Let me 1st say that I watch ur Video's & see ur point about this,but we are not the average HALO players & I'm guessing Arcade is there for doing challenges or the casual players that are w/out strategy & just want 2 blow stuff up or are younger(arcadey -cartoony)like under 14.   • @RoTTieification I grant that there might be a purpose to arcade, but I refuse to accept the idea that it should be the ONLY Firefight experience in MM - thats kinda my entire premise in the video.
