  • My God, such a nice bass...I can only dream of having one like that

  • nice, thanks....I just bought a killer Jazz, 1991 reissue of a 62 model and I am orienting myself, so thanks

  • what beautiful full, round yet so punchy and juicy tone... i'm in tears... so beautiful.

  • how do you setup your pots (front and rear pickup, etc..) to get that tone? and what type of string do you use?

  • @theleavebehind

that's a pickup cover.. it does nothing in particular...just bLiNg...some people like it...most people don't..

  • @fela001 Actually, it can change the sound of the pickup. Put a metal shield over a magnetic field and something's gonna change.

And don't use the world "bling" ever again.

  • @michael72986 yep you're right..they do provide some sort of rf screening but IMO doesn't really produce an appreciable difference..sorry for the "bling"..anyway each to his own bro :)

  • @fela001 I was just being sharp with you :)

  • Whats the function for the metal band that sits over the strings? I've only noticed that in a few bass guitars I've seen and was just curious what it was and what it does?

  • 1:26 - 2:16 = Oh. My. Fuck.

  • Hey, stop fiddlin' with that guy's knobs!

  • HOLY SEXY BASS *DROOL*

  • That Kramer, he is so crazy!

  • how many hands do you have?lol

  • what did you played at 1:29-2:13? I love the chordings.. reminds me of stu hamm's solo.

  • I bought a highway one J bass.. I guess Fender guys copied it from this model series.. I wished they included the cool fret markings as well.

  • your hand looks gay

  • @fakdol Not as gay as your tattoos and poser sideways hat.

  • @MajorImpact am i talking to you asswipe?

  • @fakdol You are now, poser.

  • @MajorImpact poser? really? haha.. ur a pathetic Homeless poor virgin kid.. hahaha. shame on you.

  • @fakdol Yeah, really. Sideways hat always = poser. You probably wear a stocking cap in the summer too, don't you? Go make some more videos of you and your friends trying to lift weights.

  • @MajorImpact lol.. you're just envy man.. coz you dont have any vids to show.. poor guy.. hahahahah youre funny haha

  • @fakdol Yeah, of all the people who post on Youtube I'm jealous of you - a poser with lame tattoos. Nice try.

  • @MajorImpact hahahaha.. lol ur soo funny. you are really making me laugh.. hahah your fucking envy of me, coz you dont even know how to play bass, your FAT , Slob, and you are afraid to have tattoos because you are a pussy! hahahahahahahahha!

  • @fakdol Yeah, I wish I was just like you - a tattooed 'man' probably no taller than 5'4" and 140 lbs, stuck in the Philippines where it's 100% humidity, and a slave to laughable trends because you can't think for yourself.

Where do I sign up to be that pathetic?

  • @MajorImpact God Bless you my friend..

  • crap

  • Awesome playing. And crap, that sounds a lot better than my Fender 1975 reissue. Is this an original one from that time? The Ash body makes a lot of its sound, I've heard...

  • Hi, thanks for posting. Is that the action right out of the box or did you have to lower it?

I'm almost ready to buy one.

  • I just got a Fender 77 Jazz and it's like OMG! unadjusted, and old strings...! it's got to be the wood!! Tell me what you think...!

  • is that a reissue?

  • I hear Jaco Pastorius influence all over the place! Love it!!

  • what is song name from 1:33 I love it so much but I don't know that song :( I want know :)

  • I like the way 'proper' bass players have those bendy thumbs. :o)

  • 1:26....my kinda thang

  • awesome tone and looks, bla bla....but, those pearl inlays look amazing!

  • What are you playing around the 2:00 mark?

  • @carriersignal I really want to know too! It sounds so familiar yet I can't figure it out if it's original or his improv. Anyways, the best line in this video hands down.

  • @mouthmw This has been played by other bassist on this site. The guy above did not originally write it. If you want to hear a really good version of it listen to "Fernando Lamadrid 62 Roadworn jazz" around the one minute mark. I thought it was either a Victor Wooten or a Mark King solo but i'll be dammed if I can find it anywhere. I'm pretty sure I've known who wrote it at some point in time which is odd. No one at Lamadrid's posting has cared to comment on it either.

  • @carriersignal I think you've solved the mystery of where I heard it before! Yes I've seen Fernando Lamadrid 62 Roadworn Jazz several times, and just recently because I had a huge GAS for a fiesta red RW Jazz! So I guess I heard it there first.

  • Looks more like a 66' Jazz Bass reissue.

Are your sure its a 70s?

    Thanks, great playing!

  • @Capitallog

hey, sure it is a reissue... look at the frets they aren't plane, no holes at the bottom of the strings for the finger guard, no holes for the inox cache with the inverted F of Fender, the turtle plate should be in 4 or 5 parts. And finally, in the description for the pickups, Pickups: Vintage Jazz Bass Single Coils (Mid and Bridge) (if it was and old and original description, the word vintage wouldn't have been used... it's because it's recent reissued bass.

  • @kemar1973 Fender never reissued a 70's Jazz Bass with a matching colored headstock. Its an original

  • it would be more badass if u didnt shake the camera like ur having a siezure

  • pitty all fender jazz basses look amazing and then fender have the nerve to put plasic nobs on, seriously these things can be a couple of grand, why cant the put the effort to put on metal chrome nobs it would smarten them up even more

  • Amazinggggg!!!!!!!=))))))

  • stop slapping. I bet you're not in a band, and if you are, you most likely will never use what you just put in this video in a real song. You slap-happy bassists give the bass a bad image

  • PERFECT

  • The sound is absolutely amazing.

  • oh my god i found the guy who plays the song from sienfeld

  • i got the squire remake and itlooks and sounds soo sexey

  • Excellent tone!! Awesome video!! Thank you!!

  • i would kill for it

  • @curak147 I did.

  • @FiestyMclovin is there a good a acoustics in jail ? or did you play without amp ? :D

  • I like it coz i have the same :D

  • I have my own jazz bass. greatest bass ever made.

  • hey im about to buy a standard jazz bass.....i was thinking of buying with a maple neck but i really love ur sound. would a maple or rosewood neck matter wen trying to achieve this and of course wat type of amp are u using?

  • loving that sweet sweet fender jazz bass sound!

  • TEEN TOWN

  • i would like this so much more if the camera stopped moving

  • isn´t that a badass bridge, not a vintage bridge ---

  • Comment removed

  • เสียงดีมาก

  • Очень здорово звучит бас!

  • I THINK ITS MADE IN AMERICE BUT IM NOT SURE, COULD YOU VERIFY HURRR DERRRP

  • bel suono

  • Nothing pisses me off more than what the dude holding the camera did at 0:34 and 1:00. Do not fuck with my bass while Im playing it

  • molto carino questo jazz

  • THE SOUND!

  • Have just decided this is my dream bass ... one day i will have her !!

  • I love this tone!may i ask a question?what about your jazz bass'type?

  • are the american made fender basses better MUCH better than the mexican made ones?

  • @TechSmack

    Significantly different, worlds apart...

The 'vintage' basses even feel different from the 'normal' USA models, and then the 70's ones.... OH MAN!!!!! lol

  • @BJtheBassist i decided to get the american standard :-D

  • Hey really fantastic sound man!!! what did you pay for this great Bass???

  • Nice Bass! Me Want!

  • im more of a p guy, but this has sweet tone and looks super clean

  • This is an awesome bass, I own one of the same model in sonic blue, mine is number 43 out of 1000. Sounds and feels just wonderful.

  • @kiks290halmballe

    Lucky guy !...

  • You could do a better review instead of just a fucking slap

  • where did you find this particular bass. i want to get one, but all they have is ones in sunburst and black

  • COOL BASS. WHITE RULES

  • Sweet sound and playing. Beautiful.

  • 'BURP'.....gUUUrgle gurglegurgle gurgle 'tWANGUhh' POP POP

  • that bass just got ruined........in a bad way....sorry pal

  • smooooood

  • This sounds so incredible!!

  • This bass deserves a better player, give it to me!

  • @scubadope What a douche. The internet makes everyone think they're the best (insert activity here). Post up or shut up, dude.

  • 1:29 - 2:17 Amazing music. What is it? Please reply

  • where do you bought this bass ??? i want a olimpic white with tortoise pickguard and i dont find in the internet!!

  • sweet dude...

  • Nice I could very clearly hear the difference. An Ash and usual Alder body gives different clarity and punches all together. Great bass there.

  • thats a nice bass , like the matching headstock

  • PLAY SEINFELD!!!!!!!!

  • Vale! para la música de eitbkultura!

  • This is actually sexy. I crave your tone.

  • muito loco mano!! vc toca d+

  • HOLY SHIT! my friend has a fender bass made in the seventies.

  • @megakiller999 ....cool?

  • great tone and great skills

  • what pickups are in there?

  • I just made the same bass, it's a Mexican body with a big block inlay Japanese neck, you see the Bottom E string is sitting in too far from the binding edge... However, beuatiful, nice job and great playing, stop your making me jealous, not really excellent riffs..

  • this is a MIM one..

  • @narbengewebe No it isn't, MIM 70s jazzes don't come in white.

  • what's the name of the song you play at 3.20 plsss

  • @novoselic001 sounds like one of SMV's songs

  • what amp is that?

  • Wicked sounding bass mate!

  • Nice bass player............keep it going

  • Muito Bom! Timbre Fantástico!

  • After watching this, i feel there's no doubt the key to getting that slap/miller tone is using a 70's J bass as opposed to 60's. Strings, bridge, pickups and all that jive don't seem to change the core sound all THAT much. It's the pickup positioning that makes all the difference!

  • BANDA SONORA PARA ANTENA 3 TV

  • Fender doesn't make this one anymore; it's the Fender Hot Rod Jazz Bass, best I can tell, check eBay or something. Sounds amazing!

  • Is this a model '70 original, or an original modern replica made by fender with all the specs as the '70 model came out? Thanks!

  • There is nothing like a jazz bass,it's excellent for playing rock, too.

  • Where can I buy this Bass?Is it Japan-market only?

  • can I buy the bass

  • i want one too!!!!

  • i want this bass... think that's my next one :)

  • I have an american made 75 Re issue in candy apple red!!

  • nice fuckin bass, i got a jbass, but its doesnt nearly match to the awsomeness of yours.

  • Dude i'm pretty sure that's Japan made.

No way to find a Badass Bass II on an American Jazz Bass.

    But great bass indeed !!

    Also great playing.

  • yeah there is, you put one on

  • @Bassstringz You take wrong the 1970 modele as badass and this modele is Us not Japan made.!... Fender make 1000 of this modele i have model 657 not bad !!! the neck of this fender jazz bass is so small and very nice to play with !...

  • love that classic tone

  • How the hell do you get that tone?

I've tried many things already, I'll try puttin 70's vintage pickups.

  • @RLHubner

try out DR lo-rider strings. they sound very similar to what i'm hearing in this video. they are a bit pricey, but worth the investment.

  • Right now I have the Marcus Miller Fat Beams.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try the lo-riders.

  • hey, no problem man.

  • Tone is incredible

  • thx

  • @MrLukasj

we are playing heavy metal in my band but i really like to slap and i hear the t-bird isnt tht good 4 that

  • HOLD STILL YOUR FUCKIN CAMERA

  • @mrpretzels2

Lol! Who's holding it? Muhammed Ali?

  • i am thinking about getting this bass but my dad thinks i shud get a epiphone thunderbird. Should I get this one?

  • get the thunderbird XD

  • I had a tbird before I had a Jazz. A Thunderbird is nice, and has it's own cool tone qualities. A Jazz, however feels much better to play to me. It also has a brighter tone. it depends on what you play, and how big your hands are. :)

  • Ciao intanto scusa il disturbo ma ho necessità di chiederti una cosa .... sto cercando disperatamente un jazz bass come questo, identico in tutto e per tutto .... potresti darmi indicazioni utili .... sia usato che nuovo!!!

    Grazie mille e mille complimenti!!!

    Angelo

  • 2:00 Black Hole Sun ? :)

  • cool thank for sharing !

  • Very nice. The Skills are there. I want a Fender Jazz bass. As said above, you would make any bass guitar sound nice. It's mainly the player who makes the sound. But, having said that, the instrument helps. Thank you for posting that video. If you have some more, please share.

  • wow i love this sound

  • what amp? man that tone... was a killer!

  • yes this is why i luv bass and i play it for these tones not the crap tones ppl get out picking it like sum times sum pickers sound gud but majority it sounds crap plus this guy is

    BEYOND GODLIKE

  • unbelievable tone my friend....

  • I was thinking of getting this bass, but now I just quit playing bass. Thanks bro. You just did to me on bass, what the Beatles did to popular music. I'm getting back into woodworking.

  • OK, I HAVE to know... Which Special Run Fender is this? I played a ton over the weekend including that Mexican 70's and theyall sucked. They were all sorta like the real thing but not like this!

  • my God.....

  • Great sounding axe. But to be honest, in your hands almost every bass must sound great.

  • thats the most beautiful bass i've ever seen

  • yeh ditto

  • Hey great video. Uhm, I'm kinda debating over what kind of Fender Standard bass should I get? (Made in Japan/Mexico) I like to play Rock, Pop Rock, a little screamo, alternative, emo, punk, but also religious kind rock(for church) Should i get a Fender Jazz or Percisio? And what strings do you recommend? thanks :)

  • fender precision American standard with stock strings

  • very nice sound

  • some fine playing, and i dont usually go for slap

  • That's the sound of Ash.

  • how big is the diff. in sound between the various woods, cos i cant tell usually =/

  • In Fender Alder is Brighter and Ash has a more bassy sound.

  • Comment removed

  • awesome tone

  • I love Jazz Bass's sound!

  • These are great sounding Jazzes! I have one of these FSR, mine is a lake placid blue one.

  • firstly this is a beautifull bass! love the jaco riffs.

second, tone is all opinion based, you cannot say that one set up is definitavly better than another, you just cant. are you telling me that marcus miller has a piss weak tone? or that jaco had a bad tone?

get real people! it is down to the individual

  • go the P/J tone, totally kills the J/J tone! this is not an opinion , its a fact. To use an "opinion" as an excuse is weak and primitive!

  • that is the most beautiful bass ive ever seen in my life.

  • Fail.

  • quella non puo essere la tua mano.....si capisce-.-'

  • i am dissapointed that Fender does not make their newer 70's model in a lefthanded version!

  • awesome sound!! Congratulations!

  • You can get the best quality tone from the split P pickup, and i see no reason of having a J/J configuration when its so weak and useless, the P/J is a way to go.

  • The P/J Precision Bass can match the J/J tone while at the same time still sound strong and powerful with the rich mid-range driving tone. If i was to compare the J/J more specifically the J neck pickup, its like a small fly, and you can not make a bear out of a fly, but you can make a fly out of a bear, and the bear being the split single coil wired in series on the precision Bass.

  • its a nice Bass, but you have to admit that a very similar USA made 1980s model 4 string P/J Fender Precision Bass sounds better than a similar USA made Fender Jazz Bass.... by the way who needs a weak sounding headache making single coil in the neck position, you really need a split P in the neck and the J in the bridge..... J/J is always an inferior configuration and a P/J the ultimate. My 1988 P/J USA P Bass totally destroys my 1968.

  • nice playin man

  • ive got a 03 fender jazz bass all black

even though its made in mexico its bad ass

  • mostly all of fender guitars are made in mexico even if they say made in america; unless you get a fender custom, so dont waste your money just to have the american name

  • I hope that you are aware of the comment you made is accusing fender for doing highly illegal marketing. That's like saying that the Fender is really a squier but with a Fender name on it. Don't say stuff like that 'cause it ain't true.
