  • THIS QUASIMODO LOOKS LIKE MUAMAR!

  • I'm reading the book!

  • @CutandPrintFilms is it good?

  • @abc12319525 Yeah its pretty good!

  • I am related to the actor that lays the hunch back

    Lon Chaney

  • So much of the text exposition seems unnecessary when you watch this now, as Chaney showed the character from the inside out with his nuanced acting. His great sense of dynamics, moving from gentleness to anger to confusion to resignation to defiance with flick-knife quickness, powers the film by his force alone.

  • THE best version by far!

  • Chaney was brilliant. He gve Quasimodo a soul and a heart. It was more than the makeup, it was magnificent acting. A classic for the ages!

  • Talking about Lon Chaney's death around the time 'talkies' were being made I heard that Todd Browning was planning on casting Chaney in 'Freaks'. He would have been spectacular in that film, which is already a masterpiece in its own right.

Notre Dame is a great movie too. An astounding combination of his acrobatic skills and incredible makeup.

  • looks better in sepia.

  • i have the original on a DVD, you can get it if you buy the set with the "50 HORROR movie", you can also get METROPOLIS and other classics in black and white, adn color, but they dont have Nosferatu in the set :(

  • I actually found a $1 DVD with both "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" & "Nosferatu". Great transfers too.

  • do you have the original film?

  • vitor hugo didnt like the american title(the hunchback of notre dame) because it makes u think quisimodo is the main charactor.

  • Victor* sry

  • I have the Ultimate Edition of this on DVD, but the intro and title-card sequence is different from this, curious?

  • Love you Quasimodo! Loved Chaney for 10 years. He puts so much feeling into his creatures &disabled people, talented to the best.

  • Love this movie.

    Long live Lon Chaney!

  • too bad Lon Chaney died so early, he was only 47, which was in 1930, like beginning of the sound era.

  • it is unfortunate. he could have done great wonders with sound cinema. he only did one sound movie. its odd that he died away with the silent age.

  • exactly, 47 is such a premature age to die at.

  • @DrNoYes9

Nah he may have done good, but he was made for soundless movies. He died with his era.

  • This is my favourite silent movie of all time. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • I have been lucky enough to see this movie in person - Lon Chaney is the best - it rips my heart out at the end... to provoke that emotion without sound (this is a SILENT movie with an orchestration set to it) is a true feat of genius!

  • This is the best version. After the 1996 animated Disney version

  • thans :D

  • Thank you lots for uploading! I dunno how else to say it, but I really appreciate it! xxx

  • ur very welcome
