  • I am in awe of this song. Our priest at Santa Clara de Asis here in Yorba Linda, Fr, Mike always sings this song.

  • @packfan1999 I sing with him every Sunday at my church. I don't know if he records anymore but I do know that there are many stores that carry his CDs. Hope this helped(:

  • I heard this for the first time at church today and thought it was so beautiful that I looked it up when I got home! I'm discerning my vocation to the religious life and the lyrics really struck a chord in me. Thank you for posting it. Peace and blessings!

  • @impasse0124 I will pray for you! I am sort of discerning the priesthood. I am 16 now but I knew I wanted to be something religious since I was 8. I am now awaiting Easter to be baptized. My plans for life is get a bachelors degree in college then I will decide if priesthood is what I am being called to.

  • Golly, this is so much better than all the junk I normally listen to!

  • this is the best version I have heard: full of emotion. Beautiful :)

  • Robert Kochis has such a beautiful voice!! Does anyone know if he is still recording?

  • Such a peaceful song.

  • Thanks for putting this up! I've been looking for this song because I want to start practicing it --- My confirmation class is going to sing this when we confirm in May! XD I'm falling in love with song already! XD

  • Pople should be listening to this. Not Lady Gaga's junk or something. The Devil is starting to challenge us in our days, we must fight back and preserve this beautiful planet for our great grandchildren. And i'm 14 years old.

  • Hello all, I have an opinion question. For all the Catholics/Christians out there, do you think this would be a good hymn to be sung during a Catholic wedding? I'm just thinking through some hymns and this one has always been a favorite for me. Thank you to anybody who "likes" this or leaves a comment :)

  • @ClarinetFreak007 Perfect song for a Catholic wedding!

  • Wow - awesome song and even awesome-er ( ;-D ) version. And thanks, Graham, for your wonderful message and generousity. Question: who is the singer on this track? Amazing! And did you guys put the video together, or was that December (or someone else)?? Very cool ~ and thanks again everyone for sharing. God bless everyone!!

  • Played this song at my friend's little sister's funeral. She was five. I miss her :(

  • Where can I buy a copy of this version of the song? All I can find online are ones with choirs singing it...

  • @liveastobemissed I got it off of iTunes--since YouTube won't let me put links in comments, I put the link up above in the Descriptions. Let me know if the link doesn't work for you. :)

  • I am moved to tears by this hymn. Lovely rendition

  • We heard this hymn for the first time at the Baccalaureate Mass on Friday for our daughter's graduation from St. Joseph's University. What an inspiritional message for the graduates as they make their way into the world. My wife and I were so moved that we are suggesting this to our pastor and contemporary choir.

  • I'm in tears now, this is just what I want to hear when I am ready to worship....thank you

  • My husband and I were in the Caledonian Hotel in Ullapool last October. This song was being played ( In the bar ) by a dj.. I new it was the Melody Kelvingrove.. But the words were new to me.. Back home in Texas. I heard it again by the Bell Ringers Choir in our Church Easter Sunday. "The Summons".. This song has been stuck in my head since Last October I only new about 2 lines. I have had so much courage and solace frome the few lines I new. I now have a Copy . Thank You.

  • MR. KOCHIS!!! Oh my gosh i sing with Robert Kochis every Sunday!! ((:

  • I first heard this profound hymn while presiding at a Mass for college students. It utterly floored me. John Bell's text rings of grace from beginning to end. Thank you for this fine, prayerful rendition.

  • Dear December, thanks for this. We're continually amazed that folk find the song valuable. Keep on keeping on, g

  • @grahammaule There is a church in a very deprived area of Glasgow which has the tune for the first line embroidered on their piano cover. The minister never knew because she can't read music, but whoever made the cover put that message in it.

  • hi december, as one of the authors of this (and for my sins, copyright administrator of WGRG stuff), can I say we're flattered at your uploading of our song. But could I ask that you add the following details to your main comment? many thanks, graham:

Words: John L. Bell & Graham Maule, copyright © 1987 Wild Goose Resource Group/ WGRG, Iona Community, Glasgow G2 3DH, Scotland. Melody: 'Kelvingrove', Scots traditional. Reproduced by permission. Websites: wgrg.co.uk & holycity-glasgow.co.uk

  • @grahammaule

Just updated the information section with the details--and thank you for allowing me to keep this on YouTube :) This song has given me so much solace and courage in times of trouble, and I wanted to share this with others who may also be troubled.

  • @grahammaule I would love to buy a CD of you and John Bell singing the Summons.

Is this possible instead of downloading from the internet.

this is just beautiful, makes me want to run to church

  • This song would always bring me to tears when I heard it because I was going thru a really difficult period of my life. It will always be one of my favorites :)

Thanks for sharing this with us!
