  • What's even sadder is people that can't spell 'sissies' in an insult.

  • 4.3 - what a bunch of sissys

  • @googuse Uhm, this was a 6.8, if the earthquake featured in this was what you're referring to. I experienced that earthquake, people panicked and that was mostly the scary part.

  • thank god i live in Chicago. Earthquakes free :)

  • @TheHNIC88 Well you always have to worry about the Madrid fault line. Nobody is ever earthquake free.

  • Man I remember that day like I remember where I was when 9/11 happened. LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND! Was a senior at RHS, coincidentally in my science class on the bottom floor where I was able to really feel the "carpet ride" kind of S-waves studying earthquakes. After the shaking the teacher was like, "THAT is what an earthquake FEELS like."

  • So the powers-that-be will bore a tunnel thru jell-o to replace the 99 viaduct.

  • Hope Tom Hanks and his boathouse are okay ;)

  • I was at school at Wolfely Elm back in 4th grade, the field was waving and a girl at my brother school had a teliscopic fracture in her arm.

  • I like how she says fortunately only one death.

  • @ThePantyDroper Actually thats true believe it or not. There was 1 death. It was a construction worker who died when something really heavy fell on top of him at a club in downtown Seattle where a really good friend of mine worked at, at the time.

  • @Olgalevin84 I just think it's stupid she says "fortunately." To me, 1 death is too many and not fortunate.

  • @Olgalevin84 Were you in seattle when it happened? I live just across the border and we felt it here. I was in high school at the time and our building was quake proof so we only felt a bit of swaying for a few mins. Several people in the class freaked out and thought we were about to get the big one we've been dreading for so long abd panicked, their reaction was kind of funny.

  • @ThePantyDroper I was in Seattle (I live here lol) when this happened. In fact I was heading back to my science class which was on the very first floor of my high school. So I got the real effect of what a S-wave (surface wave) actually feels like from a magnitude quake like that. It was scary I'm not gonna lie, and I'm not stranger to earthquakes here, we feel them every once in a while but they are usually like 2 and 3 pointers.

  • I felt that on vancouver island

  • Is Redmond safer?

  • @HardKore5250 Redmond is like right next to Seattle, so no, not really

  • @quietcrowd redmond is a very wealthy suburb of seattle. it is very safe.

  • @inkman320 ok thanks bro, and btw I was born in bremerton :D>

  • @quietcrowd its all good man im from columbia city haha

  • @inkman320 lmao nice bro! :D>

  • I just got back from Bremerton today, and i always get scared when im there after i watched this.. But I love Seattle, Bremerton, Tacoma, hell I just love Washington!

  • @MattyIce2001 That's because it is such a cool state. Used to live in Everett, WA, loved it.

  • @MattyIce2001 I was born in Bremerton in '95 :D>

  • what happened to icarly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL JK

  • Whats happen- EARTHQUA- OMIGOD!!!!! lol

  • @lunchbox997 I laughed my ass off too!

  • "Hey guys, lets make every major American City on the West Coast over a major fault line or two!"

  • @Abusinator dont forget to have them cry and whine because their house was destroyed by the fault line they built it either

  • i left seattle because i cant stand hippies

  • so that's why the sonics moved to okc

  • ladies and gentlemen...yea, that

  • why not just move the city like they did in spongebob with the giant worm

  • @BL00GUY Lol

  • I felt that shit here in spokane!

  • I was sleeping and thought that is overloaded heavy truck passing by on California Ave and then it shock harder and i ran out the bedroom and opened the front door ready to run out into the street but noticed the power lines danggling around , I thought great get electricuted! So i stood there in the front door under the door frame and it passed . Wow , i survived!

  • i was in the fifth grade

  • Interesting .... the number of MORONS who gave thumbs down on this information provided here !

  • @chiparoo222 is that on the same level as idiot? Look at the World and all the Quakes, your schedule for another one and a Volanco explosion.

  • I was in the quake...

  • 1:27 just because there was a quake it doesn't immediately allow you to dig down IEDs.

  • ". . . it could happen tomorrow, it may not happen for 1,000 years . . . " What he's basically saying is that he doesn't know what he's talking about, ha ha.

  • @RandellScandal01 Yea , you scheduled for one this week.

  • WHOA! I didnt know it was that bad!!!!!!

  • I was 3!!! lol but at the time i was in daycare, and i was the first to get under the table!! LOL

  • This...is worrisome.

  • Wait... benefits for living in Seattle? I didn't know that existed.

  • @XavierBefree Yea, you ve got the best busing system in us, EVEN THOUGH YOU TAXS ARE GOING THROUGH THE ROOF, THATS WHY I LEFT.

  • I Was There.

  • I was there. I had just interviewed as a ghost writer. And got in my car. I drove around watching it all happen. The radio put me on hold. Too bad.

  • I know how hard Seattle would be effected...it would hurt! :\

  • Minute 0:31 - 0:35

Pay attention to what these people did. They stood the in the doorway which is one of the strongest part of a room.

  • I can see Bush Hotel hahaha

  • @mikeohoh7 kk whatever you say idc i wasnt born there but i live 3 hours away from there and yeah i actually see hippies walking around but yeahh

  • @mikeohoh7 no not really;)

  • good vid!!!

  • ITT: Jelly people who are in denial that Washington is the best state.

  • The story about 0:30 is that the mayor of Seattle was going to hold a press conference about the Mardi Gras riots the day before. The earthquake hit minutes before the conference. The voice you hear is a reporter saying "Get us on the air now! Now!". He was broadcasting live as the earthquake was still happening, when others were ducking under desks.

  • I remember riding that quake while I was in bed!! LOL! And I was in Sea-Tac, Washington, 25 miles away!

  • I <3 seattle.

  • I was 10 when this happened and in 5th grade, I still remember my teacher yelling "get under the desks! get under the desks!" even though we were all already under the desks.

  • @fuzzy7277 i was in the 1st grade (just turned seven) when this happened...since we were all so little, I remember half of the class burst out crying when this happened. i'm pretty sure my teacher had a huuge headache after all of this was over, because of all the crying first graders.

  • 7°?? chile 8.8 , chile rules !

  • @MrFIMCC lol i hope that we never break your record.

  • @MrFIMCC i hope you get hit by another 8.8

Chile rules mf

  • @MrFIMCC If you were a true patriot to Chile you would be fighting the idealism of Globalization which destroys the sovereignty of your country. I am not your enemy but you assume the American public is your enemy and ignore the true power structure.

  • @MrFIMCC Fine I mean U.S Citizens not Americans, but we are the only country in the Americas that have America in the actual name of our country therefore we call ourselves Americans. Argentina, Peru, Chile, yes they are in South America, you are South Americans, but our countries name is United States of America, and that is why we are known as Americans.

  • @MrFIMCC your just mister angry and i think you just need to go sit down in that corner over there and calm down little boy.

  • @MrFIMCC you just proved your maturity level and i will leave it at that and dare not feed that angry hateful soul of yours.

  • @mikeohoh7, you know, Los Angeles has WAY more homeless than Seattle.

  • @mikeohoh7 We are pleased that you are not a resident... please avoid visiting too.

  • fuck hipsters

  • better than rednecks dont you think?

  • Mayor McGinn is doing far more damage than an earthquake, hopefully our city will survive

  • Fuck off Google, no one wants to see your Obnoxious Ads!!!!

  • The whole West Coast is susceptible. The Portland area seems particularly susceptible, since earthquake awareness is alive, but authorities there don't seem that adamant about it, and there is so much unreinforced masonry...Seattle has the same problem with bricks but they seem to be preparing actively.

  • i was there when this happened i was at childrens hospital

  • lol Stupid Bitch reporter "Fortunately"... "Only one death attributed to the quake" only? what the hell? Fortunately? Fuck National Geographic. One death is just as bad you stupid cunt. Why did they tell her to say that. Only one life huh? How about I cap you in the skull and it'd be okay, because fortunately it's just one dumb fucker. Heartless bitch

  • @Shakeitupyes Oh YES, well said, very well said friend. 1 human life means as much as any human life. 1 million or only 1. The same. Life

  • @KlausPettersson232 sorry for my language, it just upset me.

  • @Shakeitupyes Dude, your misogynistic bigotry is fucked up. Jesus, what she's saying is considering it was an earthquake the loss of life could have been much worse (Obviously). Relax, you bigoted fool.

  • @Jackstowne but what you need to realize, you heartless bastard, is that it could have been a lot better. Anything could have been a lot worse. the twin tower attack could have been worse, it could have been the entire NY city so why not say "Only a little more than 1000 lives were lost" as if it's no big deal, no they made a HUGE deal out of it. It should be a big deal regardless of how many lives were lost.

  • @Shakeitupyes try sayin that shit against the people who where in japan today, ya new yolk jack ass.

  • @judesama11 what the fuck is your problem bitch? I'm saying all life is important. Go to hell

  • @judesama11 hahaha, i knew that would piss you off. sorry bout that bro, just jokin around.

  • Los Angeles too

  • @youztuber5000 Bully!

  • Aren't people from other countries supposed to post something along the lines of "Seattle's earthquake in 2001 is just another example of how shitty America's economy has gotten?" :-)

  • I'D USE TOYOTA TECHNOLOGY TO REMOVE THESE FUCKING ADVERTISEMENTS!

  • @HarWeeba Toyota Technology? Isn't that an oxymoron?

  • I wish Microsoft HQ had been destroyed (but nobody hurt)

  • @vanhouten64 Microsoft HQ is built using the "buoyant float" technology. It will get destroyed only when planet earth blows up. :)

  • Tectonic plates my friend

  • was this felt in vancouver? i was still in seattle at the time but it was so scary to think i thought it was fun

now quakes are my biggest fear

  • @NLSLproductions it was felt all the way to prosser which is about 45 minutes from oregon

  • sorry, but in the next 100 years, the west coast of wasington is supposed to get the most severe type of earth quake.... from a subduction zone. The ground will have so much pressure it will bust with so much force it will be at least an 8.0

  • I live in WA and i hate seattle.. that place is a circus sideshow

  • @thehuntman47 stay in your rural cow fucking county with your redneck republicans then

  • @salvadory Id rather fuck a cow than fuck another dude like you do. tie your wool scarf in a noose and hang yourself with it you queer

  • @thehuntman47 gee ill make sure i tell my hot wife about your cow fucking and your obsession with socalled gay people- cmon give up cows- wear one of these scarfs you refer to and tag some man ass- dont worry - my wife and i and my kids are openminded - we will accept you for who you are!

  • @salvadory i live in mossyrock

  • @salvadory What does this have to do with Earthquakes? Oh wait, "gay people cause tectonic changes", right?

  • @shmuli9 what are you talking about- i was arguing with a guy who said i must be gay since i live in seattle and that seattle deserves an earthquake because were all gay here- after calling me gay for three posts i merely stated my maritial and family status because the guy was being a jerk- personally my wife and i are friends with gay people and i think youre misreading my post

  • @salvadory Yes, I DID apparently misread it - sorry! :-) (I'm so used to reading such bizarre posts - about gay men causing earthquakes and menstruating women souring milk by looking at it - I prejudge posts.)

  • @shmuli9 no worries ive done it myself- on a few posts when i mention im from seattle no matter what the subject i get the "ohh seattle' you must be gay" shows how uneducated and bigoted some people on here are!

  • @salvadory How bizarre! :-) (A whole CITY of gay people? ) I've heard similar things like "oh, you're Italian? Then you must know Joe Piapi in Lancaster Pennsylvania!" (I've never even BEEN to Lancaster.)

  • @shmuli9 yes were all gay millionaire ultra liberal tree huggers who work at microsoft and boeing

  • @salvadory And drive Volvos when we aren't ecologically commuting to work on our recumbent bikes! :-)

  • @salvadory Hey! It's everyones favorite liberal faggot! Salvadory!

  • omg God Is So Powerful!!

  • Ladies and gentlemen here are the steps to take incase of a quake....

Big fucking steps out the door.

  • I was just a fetus when this happened

  • Was there. I watched telephone poles blow back and forth like a tree branch in the wind. Kinda cool really.

  • I remember when this happened, I was 20 at the time and it was all over the news down here in So Cal. I used to have family in Seattle, but they were lame so they moved away.

  • Sweet baby Jesus...

  • I was in fourth grade when this happened. I thought it was fun, but the girl underneath the table next to me was crying lol. I got to go home early, so it was a pretty cool day all in all.

  • @006969123

Shut the hell up u spittin lies rep seattle yeah yeah 206

  • We can only hope the big one comes soon and destroys Seattle. Seattle is the armpit of the United States.

  • @006969123 more like the brains. bill gates was born and raised here hahahaha

  • @006969123 So move.....

  • @006969123 Have you been to LA?

wait, scratch that.. Have you been to Detroit?

LA is the butthole of America, while Detroit is the slimy diseased and abused smelly worn out vagina of America. I thought Seattle was pretty cool.

  • @006969123 yeah the armpit with some of the most important military ports and bases- home of aircraft cariers- boeing- microsoft and the tech and computer industry- and the highest college degree population in the us- some armpit!

  • @salvadory

Highest college degree population of idiots who went to colleges in Washington state.. LOL colleges here are an absolute joke.

  • @006969123 actually the UW is considered one of the best colleges in the united states outside the normal ivy league schools

  • @006969123 yeah and Bill Gates will die and then see how you survive you little troll faggot.

  • @006969123 You are actually a terrorist, saying you want people to die.... I bet you wouldn't say that in public you little troll coward.

  • 8th grade i remember this it was a crazy.

  • @Ladiestreat where u calculate this info?

  • HAHAHAHA love the dudes face at the end of the video. other dude in backround "LETS GO" dude in chair umm.... ok lol

  • Gotta love the upbeat music... WTF

  • Why are cities that are awesome like Seattle and SF very susceptible to earthquakes =[

  • @amaru2500 location location location

  • @amaru2500 sf and seattle are crap

  • @amaru2500

I've been asking the same question for years - it is so unfair that many beautiful places on the west coast and northwest are prone to earthquakes. Most unattractive places like desert with no trees or ocean seem to be the safe place geographically.
