SAW EM' WITH DIO AND MEGADETH IN EARLY 87' IN DALLAS REUNION------MANY BONG HITS AGO-----BOUGHT A HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING SHIRT-----MIA IN 93----COOL SHIRT TOO!
When Criss died Savatage were over for me. They reached their peak with Caffrey. 2 Guitars make these songs killer. When he solos its too hollow - though he is powerful
Classic bad ass Savatage footage! Thanks for posting this man! I'd love to see and have this entire show. Listen to how ahead of their time Savatage was in '86! Heavy, thunderous, mystical and tight with the time changes. So underrated. Criss wailed the f*ck out of that guitar and matched his brothers vocals so killer man. Thanks again for posting this footage. Way cool stuff to see!
I SAW SAVATAGE LIVE TWICE AROUND THIS SAME TIME IN A SMALL BAR IT WAS THE BEST LET ME TELL YOU!!!!! CHRIS WAS RIPPING UP HIS LIGHTNING BOLT STRAT IT WAS AWESOME TO SEE THEM LIVE SO CLOSE UP JON WAS GREAT TOO THE WHOLE BAND. GOOD TIMES. WHEN THRASH RULED...... RIP CHRIS AND GOD BLESS.
back in the 80's I use to play Dungeon & Dragons i was playing a game when i came upon an island and it was an island of one siren needles to say I some how had slayed the beast and survived. but at the time that i was playing the game and was fighting for my life this song was palying
Savatage is one of my two favorite bands ever. They were the only band I could make sound good in my first car without blowing the speakers.
I know a band that covered this song... It's funny how the sirens' song still freaks people out when they hear it for the first time. Oooh woah ohhh.. Woah ohh...
well maybe it is possibly some Cable access TV, not PBS. but that is what is was listed as when I got it around 20 years ago, there is also Avatar footage of them playing outside , or very early savatage that is killer...
Criss Oliva was incredible...how in the hell did he get that tone? He had the absolute thickest tone I have ever heard. I would give anything to be able to achieve that tone!!!!
Thanks ,I am from the Tampa bay area and listened to Avatar/ Savatage in the early days. Its brings back memories to see an early take of that powerful song.
Is this PBS TV, as in the Dallas/Fort Worth based tv station?

For a live-version, this was incredibly good ! The sound-quality is as good as the album-version and the vocals are BETTER live than on the lp !!!!
So, how did this wind-up on PBS ??? I guess it was a documentary on Rock/Metal music, I'm not sure, I was only 6 years old at the time !
